This restaurant had probably the best food on our UK trip. We ate here while on our narrowboat…read morejourney along the nearby Llongollen canal. Items that really stand out are the naan bread (freshly made and a hit with our picky carbo-holic younger son), and the chicken tikka masala which had a light red coconut sauce - different than I've seen in other restaurants. But really everything that we ordered was very tasty.

Lazeez is an excellent Indian restaurant in Hanley. When you…read morefirst walk in, make sure you have a look at the photographs on the right which are of some of the celebrities that have eaten there. The restaurant is split between two floors and is well decorated and clean. The food is excellent and the service is very good. If you want a quiet meal then I would go earlier on as sometimes it can get quite busy and noisey with groups wanting some food after the pubs have closed. Prices are about average at around £8-9 for a main course.

Lazeez is an Indian restaurant situated in Hanley town centre. It is quite modern and the food is…read morepretty good although the curries can sometimes be a little greasy. They do pretty much the type of food you would expect to find in an Indian restaurant balti, vindaloo, madras, naan bread, rice etc. The prices are about average and what you would expect from this type of restaurant. The biggest problem with Lazeez is the toilets which always seem dirty. You can also find that later on in the evening, especially at weekends, the restaurant becomes full of very drunk people so probably not recommended as a family dinner destination. Lazeez is generally a pretty good Indian restaurant, although not the best I have been to.

Craving a curry halfway through my week in Newcastle, I decided to give takeaway from Aneesa a go…read more Easy to miss (it's up a flight of stairs on a side street), Aneesa's upscale decor would make dining in pleasant...but I was on a tight schedule. I hadn't had a good vindaloo in years, so went with lamb tikka in vindaloo and a piece of naan. Combined with some complementary pappadum and chutney, it was a bargain at just under £12. The vindaloo was certainly spicy, but not overwhelming (if I was going for real pain..they have phaal on the menu). While the naan was a bit plain, it did a fantastic job of soaking up the curry.

I discovered this place walking to the cinema from the multi-story car park next door. The smell…read morewas too tempting to ignore. The 1st floor restaurant is located at the top of a stairwell off the road. The location and décor is unremarkable, and I was horrified to learn that Aneesa is unlicensed, so I couldn't order a beer to accompany my curry! Having said this, I do like the idea of taking your own drinks.. you've just got to be prepared (by reading reviews). The food however, is amazing as are the prices. The service is notable for its excellence also. My wife ordered a dish that was a little too hot for her. The waiter was quick to spot this and offered to replace it with another dish. They also replenished the 'lost' rice, free of charge! If you love curry, pay this place a visit.

The staff is efficient, professional and friendly. The food is well presented and the quality is consonantly good. The cost of meals is average. Out of the three Indian restaurants on Brook Street this one is the best with Chester tandoori a very close second. The restaurant offers a discount to residents of the Mill Hotel what is only 2 minutes walk away. In general; Cleanliness 8/10 Quality of food 8/10 Cost 8/10 Staff 9/10

The environment is charming and discreet. In my point of view they overload the few staff they have. Maybe is because they are always so busy I was there during the races and it was so busy and the waitress was so helpful and dedicated that we actually forgot about how busy it was. I go there once and a while and I surely recommend. The effort of the staff to satisfy the customers even in an adversity that was beyond their power caused an impression on us. Well done! You must check it out.

Couldn't of changed much since then right?

This place should be on Yelp, so I added it proudly…read more Fantastic Indian serving almost exclusively the Thalii plate, featuring a range of interesting dishes, all at the healthy end of the scale. The food is absolutely great, no oil-soaked dishes, just gently spiced curries with a bit of a kick. The staff are outstandingly polite an attentive and know everything about the food. The chef also came out to give a bit of a run down to people, which was a nice touch. Highly recommended, from a Londoner who has had a lot of London curries!

We ordered a delivery and the driver delivered it to our neighbours house…read more Mistakes do happen yes but when calling the manager he was on the defensive and extremely unapologetic and what he said was very rude. He made out that we was not genuine and just wanted a freebie. In fact this is not the case at all. From the attitude of the manager and his lack of customer service we actually decided we didn't want the food. So have just left it outside as the manager didn't want to offer any resolution he just wanted the food back which is fine. We also could see through the bag that the Pepsi can that had been sent was completely damaged on the top of the can. They clearly do not care.

I, along with 14 other people, recently visited Zak's Balti. It was chosen due to the affordability…read moreand the fact that it had enough room to accommodate everyone at one table. We should have known better...the fact that only one other table was occupied despite the large floor area on a Saturday should have sent warning signals! Our order was taken relatively promptly. However it then took 40 minutes for the popadoms to be provided. Having finished our starter, we then waited an hour for the main courses. By this time people are getting irritable as we are now the only people in the restaurant and we have already asked the helpful (yet clueless) waiters how much longer. Eventually some of the mains arrive. We then wait ages for rice. Then a little longer for more mains. Cold mains get sent back. Wrong mains get sent back (After the waiter tried arguing that she had ordered what had been brought). Naans start to arrive. Finally the rest of the rices arrive just as people are finishing. The actual food was ok. A few people said theirs was lovely, most said ok. In fact the general consensus was that they were so hungry that they would have eaten anything! Then it was time to order the Bill and as the waiters were clearly avoiding our table (despite us now being the only party) this took a predictably long time. As a pacifier the popadoms were complimentary, but this does not make up for the bland food and appalling service. Since this visit we have found other dissatisfied customers, one story of waiting an hour for food and then walking out...the waiters didn't even argue that they hadn't paid for their drinks!

For anyone that reads a bad review on this business; they must be mistaking it for somewhere else, why would you not want to wait for food surely this shows how fresh it is and freshly prepared and zaks balti delivers fresh tasty food every time. If they can deliver the service we had tonight and there was 11 of us, imagine how the service would be to a small group. Well done guys you should be proud! See you soon x
