We had a shuttle take us from the Downtown McKinney area to the venue and it was a short-ish ride through ranches and open spaces. Once we arrived, the venue was beautifully laid out. We walked through where the reception would be (an indoor and outdoor concept) and went to where the ceremony was held. The wedding was held in the afternoon at the perfect time where it wasn't too hot and had a nice breeze rolling through the trees. The space where the ceremony was in relation to where the reception was isn't too far of a walk and, although not heel friendly, it wasn't too bad. There are many great spots to take photos at and to also hangout in between the ceremony and reception. The staff working the event was super nice and helpful the whole night. The venue itself was such a beautiful space for such a special life event.

Walk back on the compressed gravel trail to the main building and the reception was on the huge covered porch. There were space heaters mounted up above and put out just the right amount of heat on a coolish but beautiful evening. Great lighting on the patio, room for the double sided buffet line, tables and chairs for the reception attendees and just the right amount of room for the DJ and dance floor. I'm not sure how many guests were in attendance but I would guess around 150 or so. The inside powder room was adorable, complete with a pull chain to flush. Outdoors in the patio were more bathrooms for the cowboys and cowgirls in attendance. The overall vibe was comfortable- rustic and romantic, like you were in a beautiful wooded private space. Close enough to the city, but so fun to drive in and see cows in the field right next to the entry road!

The location in Anna, TX is remote enough to make it feel secluded. Set off a country road, there is plenty of open field parking. From what I could see, there was the main reception building and the outdoor wedding space was across the creek. Upon arrival to the reception area, very nice, top of the line golf carts were waiting to chauffeur guests to the outdoor ceremony area. The ceremony took place outdoors past a small creek where there was a quaint bridge. The seating was set up in neat rows where the centerpiece had a lovely antique chandelier. There was also a mic set up and outdoor speakers so the vows could be easily heard as well as music to bookend the ceremony. Our friends who got married are huge Anglophiles and they chose "London Calling" by The Clash to take their first walk down the aisle as man and wife. Great touch! For the reception, the building has lots of long tables and some round ones. There was also a dance floor space. The only thing I would say here, is I wish there were some noise abatement measures. While there were speakers to amplify the toasts and speeches, the large space was too boomy to hear with clarity. Other than that, the space was very nice. There are also rooms to the sides of the main room for the bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready. The restrooms were also very clean and well maintained. Overall, I thought River Road Venue was a lovely place to attend a wedding and had beautiful grounds. I would definitely love to attend another wedding here again sometime.

As soon as me and my partner walked in we felt welcomed. As part of the LGBT community we have ran into some issues with finding a place to get married in with vendors and venues not even responding to our inquiries it was a refreshing change of pace to feel welcomed. We toured the place and everything was clearly laid out of what was included and what was extra. We completely loved the tour and it is our top choice currently with expectations of putting a deposit down in late July.

We went to a lively wedding last night at this venue…read more First the good, aesthetics were beautiful. Grounds were very photogenic and well kept. Parking was plentiful. They chapel was separate from the reception area. Very comfortable. The backdrop for the ceremony was sweet. After the ceremony, the guests walked over to the reception area on a nice paved walkway. The back lawn had turf instead of real grass so walking around that area was easy. We went into the building for cocktails and appetizers. Here's where I had issues. If you are not going to let guests sit down at the dinner tables, for whatever reason, provide seating elsewhere. There was no seating available in the cocktail area or outside. Have some conversation areas. Have a couple of fire pits for February weddings and events. Weddings have elderly guests. Elderly guests need to sit. One bar. When you have 150 people for a wedding, provide more than one bar. Standing in line is not a pleasant experience. Especially when after you get your drink and appetizer, there is nowhere to sit for an hour or so. Now back to the good. The food. I saw one of the servers had Patriot Pig on her shirt so I'm assuming that is where the BBQ came from. It was The Best wedding food we've experienced. The brisket was moist and fabulous. I asked the server in the buffet line for a piece with some fat and he didn't look at me like I was crazy. The green beans were flavorful. Mac and cheese was homemade as were the mashed potatoes. Desserts, little banana puddings, 5 stars. Little apple pies, 1 star, not done at all. I'm not sure where the naked wedding cake came from but it was delicious! The DJ kept things moving but like always in these large barn style venues, the sound was terrible. The staff was all very kind and helpful. The bartenders remained professional even with a constant line all night. Overall a lovely venue with just a couple of misses. Sorry, not many photos.

The building is 150 years old with original wood, windows, and flooring. The chapel itself needs little to nothing to have a beautiful ceremony. I would recommend you ONLY rent out only this portion of the venue. If you choose to rent out the entire place for the day please continue to read. Lets begin with the parking, very limited and there are no designated signs where the parking is. It is a grassy field on the southwest side of the chapel. The outside (yard) has great twinkling lights and a firepit (you need to provide your own wood.) You are able to use outside vendors, DJ, and photographers. If you rent a dance floor you must use the one Judy (manages the place) states. With that being said, the floor installers came the day of the wedding and placed the floor down in the area under the lights. Judy did not like it there and had them pull it up and move it over. It was then uneven with many ridges sticking up. We felt the guests would trip and the structural engineer stated it was a hazard too, but Judy wanted it there. Judy is the person we did all our communication and contract with. She made it appear that we would have free range to set up as we saw fit and there would be onsite help. This was absolutely not the case. I will bullet the following things you need to be aware of if you choose to use Ever After Chapel. $3000 for chapel and back yard, plus $150 for rehearsal for 1.5 hours Inside Room(IR) for cake/food/etc, lights worked on only 1/2 of the room. Bride room, no lights, no air AC was not on or did not work IR was very dirty, live and dead bugs present IR no running water IR you are unable to move tables or any furniture. This made thing VERY difficult IR bartenders/caters NOT allowed There are a couple of other items to consider when using this venue. Tables and chairs for reception are very dated and many were held together with gray tape; they need to be replaced. There is no assistance with set up or breakdown. Website states "You make the choices, and we take care of all the details," "Our wedding packages eliminate the stress of putting together your special day and eliminate the added expense of an outside wedding coordinator," Not true. Judy was onsite the entire time and was very intrusive and made setting up very difficult at times. Examples to follow: During rehearsal she wanted everyone to remove their shoes Had the dance floor removed to a less level area Wanted/tried to have the wedding party come in the chapel in the order she suggested Sat in the room, monitoring the IR, made us feel very uncomfortable. Should have been on site if she felt it necessary, but in an office or somewhere, not with wedding guests. Gave our photo booth installer a very difficult time about NOT wanting to move 2 chairs that were not needed in the area of the booth. At the time of the reception, stated why we didn't get security since booze would be on site. This was NEVER mentioned verbally or on the contract. Structural engineer was called out twice. He was at the wedding with his dog. Judy provided some good suggestions to where the DJ should set up, as well as where the guest book should be. Overall, I wish I would have known several of the bullets prior to selecting this venue. The Chapel is quaint and I'd recommend that portion ONLY, if you are willing to pay $1500.

Amazing things about this place 1. Daughter wanted all the wedding party to stay on site and basically have a love and Party fest.. Many many bedrooms accomodated EVERYONE and we had a lot in the wedding party! 2. The man cave/ BUNK HOUSE - pool ping pong and bunk beds.. we had several guests that were just a tad to party happy, so we escorted them to the bunkhouse.. The groomsmen played card games and had a wonderful time there.. Its a bunkhous that is just a few yards away from the mail house.. 3. The main house.. DROP dead gorgeous and we had 50 people for the rehersal dinner! Big cozy fireplace and an intimate gathering made everyone toast and tell wonderful stories about the bride and groom.. 4.OMG they have beautiful working hunting doggies! I am not a hunter, but they included a hunt for the groomsmen and their man friends..I enjoyed watching the dogs work..What a beautiful afternoon..and the hunters came home with a LOT of QUAIL! 5. NEW wedding Chapel was just completed and is just so so beautiful.. We had 130 guest and it was plenty of room for dancing and all the tables food and buffet set up! 6. The staff... although I was dubious at first as I only saw one sweetheart of a lady.. She was amazing and was so very accommodating! I just loved her..She was very special and so caring..She is truly a treasure! 7. The nature- not much decor needed here.. this place is on a lot of acreage and the chapel faces sunset.. so the natural beauty is peaceful and just lovely.. All I can say is this place is wonderful and offers so much for the dollar.. Our older guests were comfy sitting by the fire in the main house and drinking wine ,while the young kept the party going on late into the night. My daughter described it as a dream wedding! I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS! This shouild tell you how wonderfull this place is!!
