Came in on a Saturday for a late lunch/early dinner. Mostly regulars at the bar and in a booth. Bartenders did great recommending options and bringing drinks. We both went with sweet tea and 2 piece fish & chips. Fish was out in a flash, scalding hot with coleslaw. Starting with coleslaw, this isn't some artsy slaw with high brow ingredients. This is good ol' mayo slaw served cold, crunchy, and slightly sweet. Salt was needed on fish and chips. I didn't mind since it's easier to add salt than it is to take it off. Chips were surprising good for what looked like frozen pre-cut fries. On the whole, a nice find in the square. read more

Was open on New Years Day until 4pm 2026. The bar top was full but the dining room only had a few tables occupied. We had a late lunch and Nick saved our experience as the other server/bartender was less attentive and a bit obnoxious. The food as always was fresh and delicious. We shared the chorizo bites, our favorite. I enjoyed the bangers and mash, hub enjoyed the Sheppard pie and my bro-in-law tried the bang bang chicken tenders. The bangers were awesome. read more

Located on the main square of downtown McKinney is this Irish pub. We entered and could see that all of the booths and tables downstairs were filled, so we followed the music upstairs. There was a live band playing easy listening, folksy music from the late 60s and 70s like Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and Elton John's Daniel. The band members were probably in their heyday during those years. The crowd bellied up to the bar was much younger but spanned the ages of 20 somethings all the way into the 50s. It was crowded, but a barrel table with two high chairs opened up, so we nabbed them. A waitress came by to clear the table of the plates from the previous party and told us we would have to go to the bar to order. I went to the bar and tried to get the bartender's attention without success. I then went to the end of the bar where two waitresses were hanging out and asked if they could take my order. They sent me to the other end of the bar where there was a cashier station, and then they promptly went back to gossiping instead of working. I was put off by this and turned the task over to my husband. He found a different waitress near the cashier and was able to order drinks and food in no time. While he was doing that, a completely different waitress actually stopped by our table and asked for my order. I told her my husband was at the bar ordering. She gave me a look of death, threw up her hands in anger, and backed a way without hearing my protest that another waitress had directed us to the bar. The staff there obviously need to communicate with one another and get on the same page. This was a frustrating experience and really made me not want to stay, and I definitely don't want to return. The fish and chips were actually quite good. The two pieces of cod were huge, fluffy and tender with a delicious, light, crispy beer batter fry enveloping the outside of each piece. I wish we had come here earlier or at a time when the service had been better. I doubt we will return to this bar. It was a mixed bag of good, bad, and mediocre experiences. If you live in McKinney, you might not have much of a choice. There seems to be quite a few other late night spots to check out. read more

Yes I've only given it 3 stars - yes I liked the place - yes I will go back - yes i will recommend it to others. However the food quality and taste was disappointing. Very pleased to say that it felt more like an authentic Irish pub than an American version of what someone thinks an Irish pub should look like. The selection of beers from the UK and Ireland is amazing! My favorite beer when in Ireland is Guinness and a true test of any pub this side of the pond is how their Guinness compares. Happy to report that their Guinness is a solid 8/10 on my taste scale As for the food - we ordered a few wide range of items and apart from the corned beef and cabbage spring rolls - nothing stood out as being stellar. The full Irish fry up was okay but the black pudding was powdery and inedible - the beans tasted okay but they were not traditional Heinz - and no offering of any HP (brown) sauce. The fish in the fish and chips was covered in a batter that was too bready and heavy and there were no mushy peas. The scotch eggs did not have enough pork sausage around the egg. Just a few simple menu tweaks and this pub could be the perfect spot for a homesick person from the motherland read more

The place was POPPING on a Wednesday night. From 7-9 pm there was a large Irish music group playing, and it made the entire restaurant feel alive. At one point someone ordered a round of drinks on the house, so the mood was great. The food and service was also exceptional. Let's face it, Texas in summer is no joke. If you find yourself expiring from a heat stroke, take a break from browsing and stop in yo cool off. That's just what we did. Sat upstairs in comfy chairs next to the fireplace- aka the spot under the AC vent with a fan directly overhead. The dim pub lighting was also a rest for wearing sun-scorched eyes. Enjoyed some water, a refreshing Irish cider, and an Elvis Juice IPA. We also split an appetizer of Reuben egg rolls. They were yummy. I enjoyed mine as they were but my husband could have drunk the sauce. Although our bartender was busy, he made us feel welcomed rather than rushed. We decided to out for lunch and a drink on Saturday and ended up at the Celt...NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! top floor was full of soccer fans and they were quite amusing. my wife decided to try Steak and Mushroom Pie, I had Chicken Tenders. when the food came out I smelled a thick, dark beer, it was the gravy for the pie...I had to try it and it was AMAZING!!! almost like a thick French Onion Soup..it was so good I asked for a side of gravy for my chicken strips...they went well together, different at first but awesome to the end. read more
