First of all, they've completely missed the concept of Tapas. These are meal sized plates at meal prices, as opposed to one to three bite snacks. But whatever, it's a pretty rural area and I should probably just be happy at this point that I'm not relegated to fast food. What I ate: Pad Thai - 2 stars Very bland, tasted like something I could whip up at home in about 10 minutes. For $8, I would have preferred about one quarter of the amount of food and 4 times the quality/flavor. It was huge and definitely beyond the realm of a "tapa". Masa Pork Belly Tacos - 2 stars Apparently the "chef" has no clue how to prepare pork belly. I love it crispy, but this was burnt. Also, it just didn't really come together as a dish. It seemed deconstructed. I had to add sriracha, which doesn't say a whole lot about the thought process that went into the compilation of the dish. The wine list was good and the service was very good. This is probably as good as it gets for the area, I'm being a little lenient on the rating. read more

Great wine selection, bar tenders who can mix a great cocktail and a really fresh look, gotta love the great places on market street. The cellar does a lot of things well, they have an impressive selection of wines by the glass and a really great list of cocktails and some awesome desserts. So this is a really nice wine bar and eatery but right off the bat this place had sloooooooow service. Came here on Memorial Day weekend for brunch, which if you know this place they only serve brunch like 2 days a year, with a rather large group of 9 and it took us 2.5 hours to get in and out. Now you may be saying "it must have been pack since that's when the Glass Festival is going on"...well i'm afraid you would be mistake because there couldn't be 2 dozen people in the place excluding staff. The environment was nice, mild sound level, and had a large selection of wine, cocktails, and beer. The brunch selection of French toast was good but slightly over priced for what you get. 3/5 Not sure if I would go back to brunch or food but might return for drinks. read more

This place was amazing! The poutine fries are out of this world! The margarita flatbread was super tasteful. The lamp lollipops are so good I wished I had ordered 10 of them! I had the scallops and my husband had the Kobe steak. They were great but I honestly think this is a place where you load up on small plates and get a variety rather than an entree. A stunning dinner. The fries came with a duck fat dip that melted in your mouth. The fish and chips had delightfully surprising fermented limes in the tartar, and the garam masala chips were fantastic, a delicious creative twist on chips. We ordered a second round of tempura salmon sushi because it was that good. We also had the salt roasted beets and the pot stickers. My parents enjoyed the scallops and the schnitzel. First of all the Main Street area is so charming! I wish we had more time to look around. As soon as you walk in to the restaurant you realize you're in a nice place! Our party of 4 were all vegan and there were lots of options for us. Plus the kitchen even went out of their way to veganize a dessert that was not vegan on the menu. We are locals and visit this restaurant often. We really appreciate that there are several vegetarian/vegan items that are clearly marked on the regular menu. It's nice to have a place where we can all eat together. Yesterday, we had the yummiest lunch. Their tapas menu was bogo and the check was very reasonable for the two of us. I had the Tempeh Rueben Slider Trio made with house ruby kraut, swiss "cheese", with the russian dressing on the side. Wasn't a big fan of the dressing, but then I don't really like regular Russian dressing either. The sliders themselves were very tasty though! We also ordered the Potstickers made with napa cabbage, star anise, ginger, and organic apricots. These were delicious! And, of course, we also ordered the House made hummus du jour which was cilantro lime or something, but was great as usual. Husband had the Lamb lollipops with chevre, fig demi-glace, crispy prosciutto and mint (which he tells me are much tastier than they sound) and Duck-fat French fries. Our waitress was super cool and helpful and seemed really knowledgeable regarding the menu. After a full day of Museum, shopping and site seeing we finish our day with a late dinner at The Cellar. Strolling in just before our 9P reservation we were quickly seated and welcomed by Emmet. The Entree menu although concise was full of interesting choice; the Tapas menu had a diverse selection of everything from Duck Fat Fries to Lamb Lollipops. We began with the Brussels & Walnuts and (3) Lamb Lollipops. Undecided on which wine, I ordered the "Blackbird" a Bourbon cocktail that paired very well with our selected appetizers. The Lollipops were a treat and the Sprouts wonderfully rich and flavorful with figs, walnuts and balsamic reduction. Next we enjoyed the Scallops and the Falafel Salad. The Scallops were perfectly pan seared and served over a bed of spaetzle; wonderful. The Falafel were perfect and well complemented by the mixed greens. After a few moments to rest and relax, we finished with French Press Coffee, Poached Pear and Cellar S'mores. The Coffee was rich, not too bold. The Pear beautifully presented and delicious, but the S'mores was the best closing act. To the table came a platter of Grahams, skewered marshmallows, chocolate ganache with a small table top campfire. Emmet lit the fire, we roasted the marshmallows and assembled the S'mores; what fun. Our evening complete, we could not have had a better end to a beautiful day in Corning. read more

I got the day boat scallops and he got the valentines special which they had to sub the Kobe for the fillet in bc they ran out. (Not great but we had late reservations) the special was a 8oz steak, crab meat, asparagus, mashed potatoes and parsnips. My meal, the scallops, Asian veggie, and rice...was amazing! The hostesses were nice, the servers were nice, the drinks were spot on,the atmosphere was perfect, and the staff dealt with the covid situation perfectly...why did they have to fail with the food? Went here on our second night in Corning. The food was ok, I would recommend the chicken and waffles. If you are a picky eater, it may not be the place for you. The second visit was a little slow but it was much later at night and the place was packed so thats to be expected. I constantly think back to how amazing the foods were prepared, the seared ahi tuna, filet mignon, fried olives, brie and melon... all incredible. I loved this place and will go back again. We ordered several tapas to start, the Brussel sprouts , potstickers and lamb lollipops, things got better and better. The flavors and tastes were amazing. Lamb was cooked to perfection and the potstickers were better than any we had ever had anywhere! We then shared a half order each of the paella and gnocchi, which were outstanding and over the top, respectively! The food was good but nothing exceptional or life changing. I don't know if it was intentional but everything lacked salt. Passing through Corning, I yelped Cellar for dinner. When I arrived at the restaurant, the hostess was too busy clearing tables to seat me, so I sat at the bar. The bartenders wine recommendation was very good. I ordered the Charcuterie plate, fries cooked in duck fat and the raw spring rolls. The spring rolls were very flavorful and had great crunch. The duck fries were under cooked and not crispy. Was that an aioli made from duck fat served with fires? It really didn't have a lot of flavor. I would have preferred a more traditional aioli or even mayo. The charcuterie plate was disappointing, The pork rilletts lacked flavor and the foisgras was over salted. Instead of croutons, the plate came with crackers. There are some good ideas here but execution needs work. Service at the bar was very good. I would definitely try Cellar again because of the interesting menu and the excellent wine selection. read more

This is a GREAT restaurant! As we were heading to upstate New York we stopped in Corning. Looking for a restaurant for dinner, we consulted Yelp and asked "locals" where to eat. The Cellar was recommended and off my wife and I went. The Cellar is primarily a Tapas place and the food is outstanding. We sat at the bar and got to know the bartender Kyle. He provided us a history of the restaurant, recommended a wine and then recommended three Tapas plates: Brussels and Walnuts, Lamb Lollipops and Sweet Potato Gnocchi. WOW---Best dinner we had in a long, long time. Each plate was unique, exciting and our taste buds dinned in culinary delight. Kyle provided excellent service and his recommended wine fit right in with his recommended Tapas.
