I got a bunch of quotes on repairing the bumper on my BMW. I purchased my car used and did not realize that there had been some damage to the bumper until someone backed up a little too far when parking and left a nice, deep license plate indentation in my paint. In a couple days, I realized that there was like a putty that had been used to patch something on the bumper and then repainted. Big, think chunks of putty and paint started falling off.
I got a few quotes. One person told me that I would be better off getting a new bumper because of the complexity of the repair work that would be required and that the paint would not really hold to the putty. Another person hemmed and hawed about the complexity required for remounting with the back up sensors and would not guarantee the paint. And one more with a similar, less than inspiring experience.
Then someone referred me to Stanley. I have to say, you are not going to get the "warm and fuzzies" from him. He is an "it is what it is" kind of guy. And, there is a reason for that... he knows what he is doing and he does it better than anyone. The work was done on time and for less than the other quotes. He also repainted some trim work that had chipped. It looked PERFECT and stayed perfect for over a year -- until I got hit.
And this is how I know that Stanley is the best at what he does.
Unfortunately, for ease, as it would be covered by the other driver's insurance and I live in the city, I took the car to my dealer. Biggest mistake!!!!!! The first time, the paint started "spidering" in less than a week. When I took it in to be repaired - the back looked fine but they drove my car into something and the front bumper was damaged. Put me in a loaner again and repaired the front. One week later that was spidering.
I told them that was it and I was taking it to Stanley for a proper repair. They refused to pay for it.
The lesson - save yourself time... Go to Stanley. He will save you, time, money, and frustration.
I only wish he did interior painting and leather repair to offset the daily dog wear and tear. read more
