Watch out! On 5/6/26, I went to this mechanic shop, because my Kia Forte 2017 Odom: 1366000, was…read moresluggish, couldn't accelerate and misfired. Which was common for the make/model/year. I took it there, with a FULL TRUST with honest local mechanic shop. Oh mannnnn, I was 100% WRONG!!!!! The females receptionists were nice, but the mechanic himself, either he's a quack, didn't know what he's doing or straight up liar. He said I need to replace my engine and quoted me $6k, and charged me $125 for a BOGUS! diagnostics. I was extremely stressed out by what's said, checked out online further, found out it could be the Head Valve Gasket, Spark Plugs and Ignition Coils issue. I find a person to replaced the gasket and the spark plugs. I studied further and decided to replace the Ignition Coils MYSELF! That's right! Less than $400, later, my car runs top of the line. Check engine light was off, and no more issue. My suggestion, either check yourself online, don't trust the mechanic shops. Also I wasted $125 for a FALSE DIAGNOSTIC. This is not a slander or defamation, because it's true. My friend who's a highly decorated vet was also there, accompanied me as the witness.

Because of that, I'm ABSOLUTELY weary of mechanics because I've been done dirty of ones who don't have the same integrity as my dad. Lots of unnecessary up-selling and repairs unnecessary for a rebuilt salvage title vehicle and TONS of scare tactics to make more money (very common with single women trying to get car repairs) That being said: my experience at Auto Emporium was a breath of fresh air after a ton of bad experiences. I had a general idea what was wrong with my car (difficulty starting/misfiring/stalling). They took detailed notes in what I could provide about the problem and instead of wasting time digging around, they reached back out to me for additional rounds of questions TO REALLY pinpoint what the root problem was. Too many mechanics are too stubborn to reach back out for questions of the owners which can help diagnose problems sooner - it's a huge time waster!! So having their staff with a running list of questions had my car fixed SAME DAY. That timeframe was absolutely insane to me. I love that they also took the time out to itemize EVERYTHING that came up on the inspection and while that did have a price tag, I now have a to-do list of the next repairs coming up so I can save up for them. It's relieving having answers for things that could be problems later. Additionally, since like-items were itemized I could pick and choose the repairs that absolutely needed to be done for this visit. One of my concerns was the hours of operation, but they have a great little lockbox system for car/key dropoffs. So don't let that deter you from using their services! All my in person/text/phone interactions were all great! My car is starting and running beautifully again after them flushing out my transmission system same day (which is a huge relief because I was trying to organize rides for 3am work shifts) That being said, if my dad is still out of commission for the other identified issues, I would totally come back and have them do the repairs.

I have 4 used cars that need basic maintenance and occasionally more serious repairs. After spending $7k in repairs on 3 different vehicles (in the last 60 days) I asked for a one time discount. The best they could offer me was $60 - less than 1% of the $7k I spent at Auto Emporium. Two of my vehicles still need about $2k in repairs, but I am not comfortable going back to Auto Emporium since it seems like they weren't interested in developing a long term relationship with me.

A little while back my brake fluid warning light came on in my Scion Tc. Only I didn't realize it…read morebecause the little red "brake" light that serves as the indicator for the brake fluid also serves as the indicator for the parking brake. Not intuitive, Scion. After driving around with the light on for a month or so, it finally annoyed me enough to read the manual. Low brake fluid is apparently kind of a big deal. And not in a good way. With a road trip to DC only 4 days away and some mountainous terrain in front of me, my brake situation had to be remedied quickly. And that's where Imports Plus came up big. I called Brad on Monday and he fit me in first thing the next morning, even though it was obvious that they were pretty busy. When I got to the shop, the guys took the time to take me into the garage and show me the wear on my brakes and rotors. Despite the necessity of the fix (which I knew before going in), they weren't pushy at all. Understanding my budget, they told me what I should have done immediately (rear brakes - worn all the way down), and what I could wait on (front brakes - a couple months left). They made a call while I was in the office to get the necessary parts and were able to finish the job by the time I got off work (actually, by noon). Speaking of which, they even made special arrangements for me to pick up the car because I wasn't able to get over to the shop until after their normal closing time. All in all, I had a great experience with Imports Plus, and I recommend them to anyone looking for a shop in the Grandview area. They did all the little things that you'd expect from a mechanic, but so often you don't get. My car required necessary work and I was in a rush to get it done. They could have taken advantage of my situation, but they didn't. Repair shops get a bad rap, but in my experience Imports Plus genuinely cares about getting the job done right and putting customer service at the fore.
