Wow! This place is a complete rip off. $140 Oil change and tire rotation?! Scheduled online, for a Friday just an oil change and tire rotation on my '17 Camry. At 110K miles I've had one every 5K miles.I've paid an average of $40-$60 over its lifetime but.. never $140. There was no quote online or in person I was ever given, I was in no way expecting $140. I told them this at the counter, and they said they quoted other shops around and they're all there. Ok.. uh no. Regardless I'll never be back. If I could give less than one star then I would... do NOT come to this place. I read the reviews to try and find a reliable, reasonably priced auto body that I could continue to go to. Had an issue with my AC, was told the entire system needed to be replaced and that it would cost a total of $1200. Paid the $1200 and moved on. Couple weeks later, AC does not work. Dropped it back off at the shop, told them they must've missed something and came back saying the compressor needed replaced which would be an addition $2,100. Mind you, both services were promised in a quick manner and both services took over a week. I had to call every day to get any sort of update. Called a family friend to see how much the part that they are replacing was and came to be around $300-400. With labor included, it should've not been more than $800-900. Not $2,100. This place is an absolute scam and they are out to get your money. They are inconsiderate of your time (had to rent a car because it took way longer than promised) and did not even fix the car properly the first time after the first $1,200. I repeat, do NOT go. I am a young woman and obviously they took advantage of that. My mistake for trusting people but I hope you do not make the same mistake. Save yourself. read more

I have a 2010 Mazda and when things stop working it can be nerve wrecking to think about how much it'll cost to fix knowing it's an older vehicle. This auto shop was able to get me in right away, ran full diagnostics, identified the issue, and had my car all good to go by the end of the day! AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS. THESE PEOPLE CAN NOT BE TRUSTED. Taking my car to Tom and Jerry's Auto was the WORST financial and automotive mistake I have ever made. I lost $3200 and was left with what is essentially a totaled vehicle. I took my car in for car an engine repair and within 24 days I had a CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. They offered a 2 year / 24,000 mile warranty which they did not honor, they did not take responsibility for their actions, I was mislead, and they did not offer any feasible solutions for the misdiagnosis and shoddy repair work that they did. When I brought my car back they did not give me a reason for the engine failure but insisted it was not their fault. I took my car off their lot because I was afraid of whatever stunt they would pull next. I was also promised a call from the mechanic who oversaw my repair and I haven't heard from them in over a month. I can not stress this enough - these people can not be trusted. They have caused me a great deal of distress and financial burden. They offered no solutions and blew me off. Save yourself the hassle. Do not go here. read more

I can't say enough good things about Tom and Jerry's! I was trying to get the most life out of my 2011 Jeep and had taken it to a couple shops before them and it seem to constantly need work done. I took it to Tom & Jereys and they fixed it and it had driven better than ever before. Then I brought it back to them a second time, when I heard a noise while driving it. Turns out it was just a wheel that was loose and they fixed it no cost. Any other shop could've taken advantage and told me there were major issues with it. I highly recommend Tom and Jereys. Since moving to Columbus in mid-2017, I hadn't taken my car to an actual garage, preferring to just get my regular oil changes at the usual drive-thru chains. But with an aging car that is starting to get leaks and other wear and tear, I knew it was high time to finally get an inspection. Fortunately, Yelp recommended Tom & Jerry's, and after taking it in and getting some substantial service done, I couldn't be happier with my experience. One of the great things about T&J's is that they text you a link to your inspection report, which lists urgent, not-so-urgent, and recommended items to address...and pictures of all of the problem areas. I was actually quite relieved that my car's main leak was from cracked transmission lines and not an actual failing transmission. Even if I didn't have some basic mechanical knowledge, it would have been obvious from the pictures that the lines needed to be replaced. Likewise, images of battery life, ride quality, and other factors all helped me opt to fix the more urgent service items. When talking to the technician over the phone, he never tried to sell me on the less urgent items (such as a loose sway bar), and the prices quoted were very reasonable. Ultimately, I spent $1200 on four tires, a new battery, a replaced passenger mirror (labor only -- I'd brought in the part), an oil change, the inspection itself, and the replacement transmission lines. It would be an exaggeration to say my car feels new, but there's something to be said for the peace of mind that it's been thoroughly inspected, and the key issues have been addressed. Given that I was dreading having to potentially shop for a new car, I'm especially glad for T&J's service. One minor negative that is nonetheless worth mentioning is that they don't have much of a waiting area, and there aren't any decent places to sit for awhile nearby (the Starbucks, five blocks away, is drive-thru only!). After wandering around the area for awhile, I wound up just getting a Lyft home. Not a big deal at all, but just be prepared to drop off your car and have a pick-up option ready. read more

So far so good. I called, told the man my issue and he was very understanding and didn't make me feel stupid at all... Which is what normally happens. Already impressed. Taking my car there now. I will post another review after it's fixed! Edit. Well, they tried to rip me off. A couple of months ago, I got new tires on my car at a place called tire barn in Indiana. The man there told me I needed a new rack on my car. I put it off. Then once my car started shaking after it was pulled out of the snow by AAA, I thought it would finally be a good time to get my car fixed. Which brings me to the day I took my car to Tom & Jerry's. When I called, I told the guy that I know I have a bad rack on my car (him and the other guy thought this was funny, which was annoying. Haha she said she has a bad rack.... No), and I think it was damaged even more from being pulled out of the snow by AAA. I Drop my car off and wait for a call. Man calls me back maybe an hour later. Tells me the only thing wrong with it was there was snow and ice stuck by the wheel and that's what was making it shake really bad if I went over 50 MPH. But he says nothing about going ahead and fixing my bad rack, which is why I came there in the first place (and because my car was shaking really bad down the highway.) He said he drove it on the highway before. Then he knocked off the snow and ice that was stuck. Then drove it on the highway again, and the shaking stopped. I forget his reasoning as to why he didn't fix the rack or look at it, I think it had to do with snow being on my car. I don't know. So cool, it's not shaking anymore, I guess I'll just get my rack fixed in the spring or summer when there's not snow all over my car. Whatever. So then, he tells me it's $46 and some change. Um almost $50 for you to waste my gas and knock off snow? I said exactly that to him once I got to the shop. His response... "Well I took time to work on it" Well, I'm not an idiot. I told him labor should only be about $30, IF THAT. He said okay, and did a little typing and clicking on his computer, then said it was only $23 and some change. I told him I'd be back when it got warmer to take car of my rack, but once I got home, I kept thinking about it and it made me pretty mad that this guy thought he could take advantage of a girl. Half of me never wants to go back there and give them my business again, but the other half says do it, because they know I'm not one to mess with. I also would like an apology from the owner. I feel 100% disrespected. I wouldn't recommend this place if you don't know anything about cars and feel like you'd be oblivious if someone tried to rip you off. Tom & Jerry's auto is a large repair shop, 6 bays of lifts, tools & noise. Tom is the owner and father, Jerry Schwan is the son and major-league character who runs the office. Communication isn't their strong suit but they replaced the a/c compressor in my little honda for hundred$ less than a certain well-known dealership in Northwest Columbus wanted, and they did it on time and with a smile. Warranty is good nationwide thanks to NAPA. I even got a ride from Jerry in person. Leave yourself an extra minute to hear the man's stories, he has plenty LOL. read more

I've been unfortunate enough to need some major auto repair services twice in the past year, and luckily a friend told me about Tom and Jerry's. Tom and Jerry's is a little shop in Grandview owned by a father and son team. Jerry (the father, I think) knows the meaning of real old-fashioned customer service. The first time I stopped in, I had a '92 Lumina, "Big Blue," with not much life left in it. The car was randomly stalling when I was driving at various speeds. I know very little about cars, but I knew that even this was a weird circumstance and was scared both for my safety and for the repair price tag. I had some mediocre experiences with the Firestone downtown and decided I wanted to go somewhere small and local, where I thought I might be treated like a car owner rather than a woman who could be ripped off by mechanics. Enter Tom and Jerry's. The shop is indeed small and I almost drove past it the first time. The cars in the lot are of varying degrees of broken down, which made me feel better about bringing in my clunker. I spoke with Jerry personally, and it felt a lot like having an uncle taking over the project. He promised that he would drive the car around until experiencing the problem, and that he wouldn't stop until he figured out the culprit. I was impressed with his determination. We finally figured out the problem and I braced myself for the estimated costs, upwards of $800. I was pleasantly surprised when my total was in the ballpark of $250 because I said "yes" to using used parts if possible. The problem and repair were broken down to me in terms I could understand--what a concept! Jerry also gave me rides to and from the repair shop. Such service! The car kept rolling along just fine for a few more months, only stopping because of an accident that totaled the car. In the moments after the collision, people were asking me where I would like to have the car towed to. Without a garage or driveway at my apartment, I was at a loss. Then I remembered Tom and Jerry's was just around the corner. Jerry and his team took care of everything. Although Big Blue had reached the end, I knew she was in good hands. I can't say I'm looking forward to any future repairs on my new car, but I know that when I have an inevitable problem, I'll be going back to Tom and Jerry's. read more

I called them early on Monday morning because I suspected that a rock had flown up into the inside parts of my car (yea, i know - it sounds very bizarre...BUT I WAS TOTALLY RIGHT.) Jeff picked up the phone, amicable as always, and told me to bring my car by as soon as I wanted and they'd take a look. Within the next 45 minutes they had found the rock (they couldn't believe it either!) and i was on my merry way, free of charge! WOW. needless to say, this made my day. While I've been fortunate to have bought all of my cars new, I haven't had the fortunate of finding a honest mechanic as they age. I usually walk away from a shop, where I've gone for just an oil change and tire rotation, with recommendations for repairs that "need to be taken care of ASAP." Until I brought my car to Tom and Jerry's today. Jeff said that after taking my 7-year old car out for a drive and looking over it, they had only a minor recommendation. I appreciate the time he took to listen to me and ask questions to get a better understanding of the issues I've been having with the car. A close friend and her husband recommended the shop but because of all my bad mechanic experiences, I made the appointment only after reading all of the YELP reviews. I have pretty high expectations so there were a couple of things I would change about the services. But I've seen and experienced MUCH WORSE. I was having issues with my muffler- drove through a deep puddle in a rainstorm and after that it was making a roaring noise for days and smelled like gasoline constantly. I took it to TJ's and they told me that a part under my car had rusted through and they could order me a new one and weld it onto my car in the next few days. I was unsure if I wanted to go the "quick-fix" route, and one of the mechanics took me back to the lift that my car was sitting in and showed me exactly what the issue was so that I could see and understand it better. Awesome! They got me in a few days later and made the repair in about an hour. Second time I took my car in was for a new ball joint. I was told by my dealership that it was loose and they quoted me $550, so I took it to TJ's for a second opinion and they told me it was indeed loose but quoted me $220. Third time I took my car to TJ's, I was involved in my first fender-bender and was wondering what the body damage to my car was likely to cost me/ if anything under the hood was damaged. Kevin spent 30 minutes picking out broken pieces of my headlight from under the hood and smoothed out the dent in my bumper FOR FREE because I was a repeat customer.
