This place was amazing! Classic, low-key, chill vibe. The food was really great, and the service, too. 10/10

I took my time and thought about for a bit before writing this review. I wanted to give a fair, balanced, honest account. So here goes: Exterior Lovely historical home that's been converted into a restaurant. With the pillars and front porch, it definitely gives off a Gone With the Wind / Tara vibe and most visitors will love this. As an AA woman, I admit I often feel a bit conflicted about visiting plantations and restaurants that make it part of their 'theme' as though slavery was a fun time had by all. The Canopy isn't doing that - they just happen to be located in a historical home so I didn't feel odd about spending my money here. Interior Again - lovely exteriors - hardwood floors, bright white walls & lots of the original architecture - like the big grand staircase as you enter. Food Initially, I ventured in for breakfast but didn't see anything that jumped out at me (more on that later). I had the Grilled Cheese on one visit and the Canopy Club on another visit. The Canopy club comes on Wheatberry toast. I thought the sandwich was tasty but I gotta admit I was disappointed because I'd looked at their social media photos and I was expecting a big chunk of ham and a big chunk of turkey (the kind that looks like your granny sliced off a hunk and slapped it on your plate for Thanksgiving). See photos. The bread was good but the strong flavor profile overwhelmed the sandwich. The bread made it hard to taste the meat and cheese. It's genuinely the first time I've experienced this with a sandwich. The Grilled Cheese has apples, turkey and gouda cheese. Gotta love these quirky names when you encounter 'em. Don't even get me started on the 'hand punched' fries. Which I'd never heard of and asked about. Turns out they're hand cut fries, but since they're using a fry cutter and not a knife, they call them hand punched. Um. ok. I don't know any restauranter using a knife to cut 'handcut' fries. Your hand is still using the cutter so I don't think the villagers will get out the pitchforks if you just call 'em handcut. Back to the sandwich. This sandwich was delicious. My only complaint is that it was dripping with butter - which most will love but I like just enough butter to produce the Maillard effect - anything else is just overkill. Price / Value I'd had a few locals warn me that the food was good but expensive. Frankly, I didn't think the food was expensive. Everything is ala carte - but even with that - if I'd ordered the club ($12) with fries ($2) - that would still have been $14 for a sandwich with fries and it's hard to get a hot lunch for under $15 these days. Customer Service Ok. Here's the bad part. It was awful. Just insanely bad. First visit. Server was sitting on the porch. Sat there & watched me park and approach the steps. Jumped up as I hit the top stop, dashed in ahead of me & let the door fall closed in my face. On the same visit, Cheyenne took my order. When I didn't see any breakfast items I liked, she suggested the lunch menu. We discussed sides (she's the one I had the french fry discussion with), asked about beverages (I declined both a side and a beverage). I told her the type of cheese I wanted, asked for extra tomatoes. Asked that they put the bacon on the side. She. Took. My. Order. Told me she couldn't ring me up because the system wouldn't allow it until 11am. Told me 15 minutes to ready. I left to go to post office then returned. When she saw me come back, she ran to the kitchen and had this surreal conversation with another server (the one that let the door close on me earlier). Told other server that she needed her to go 'out there' and take my order because I was asking about a sandwich earlier, but I didn't order it and she didn't think I was coming back. I was standing less than a foot away, separated only by a thin black curtain and she was speaking in this sotto voice / stage whisper - as though the curtain had magical sound- blocking properties. When the other server came out & asked to take my order, I declined and told her I'd already placed my order and that it was a clear that Cheyenne didn't put the order in and I'd try them another day. She just stood there looking at me with a pained expression. No apology. No best wishes on your search for food. Nothing. I think Cheyenne made a decision based on my appearance & my decision not to order a side or beverage & thought I wasn't coming back / couldn't afford the food and deliberately didn't put my order in. I struggled with my decision to go back at all, but I decided one bad apple shouldn't spoil the whole bunch. On my second & third visit (where I actually managed to get food), I called my order in & picked it up so my interaction with the staff, in person, was blessedly limited. Overall Overall, I think they'll do fine but I sincerely hope they manage to find & hire better, more welcoming support staff that can appreciate a diverse clientele of customers. It's 2023 - not 1953.

We we happy to grab brunch at The Canopy a Folk Victorian house in quaint Darien, Georgia. We were welcomed in warmly and it felt cozy eating in the beautifully restored dining room of this charmingly restored home. Delicious southern cuisine, reasonably priced meals and locally sourced it was a hit for us as hungry travelers. I ordered the tasty veggie skillet which was made to order with fried eggs over medium with breakfast potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, spring mix and feta cheese. Veggie skillet came out quickly and I felt a lot of intention was care was in the dish. The kids ordered the chefs breakfast sandwich which was a fluffy homemade biscuit with hash browns, eggs to order, bacon, cheese and sriracha! They certainly dot not skim on their portions as there were packed with yummy layers of goodness. All fresh from the kitchen with care. Great spot, do make a visit if you are in the area as The Canopy is truly a unique experience!

THIS IS WHERE YOU WANT TO EAT LUNCH!!!!! This house from the 1800's is home to a fantastic chef, amazing staff, and the best sandwich I've eaten in YEARS!!!! The Sassy Patty is a country fried steak with caramelized onions, pepper Jack cheese, and a chipotle aioli, but it is so much more. One bite into this was the most amazing flavor. It was a little bit sweet, and the steak was so tender it chewed like ground beef. I wasn't sure where the sweet came from, so I asked for a side of the aioli. Nope. Only hear there. The perfect pairing. I would put it on everything. The sweet came for the caramelized onions, which were perfectly done and bountiful. I also ordered fried pickles, which were very good. I am so amazed at the perfect blending of flavors in the sandwich. If you live within an hour, you have got to come here. You can thank me later!!! :)

Ordered the Pasta Putanesca with braised pork and there was NO pork. I would appreciate beforehand to be informed that they don't have one of the ingredients as this has happened more than once. The ceviche was stale and unseasoned like it had been sitting out for a while. The Oreo cheese cake and the chocolate cake both tasted like they were uncovered in the fridge and had been sitting there for some time as it had a waxy fridge taste. For $12 a dessert I would expect it to at least be fresh. I was also shocked at how small the potato croquettes were as they were served with corn and about the same size as the kernels.

Great brunch. All our food was on point and very tasty. Service was fast and friendly with frequent drink refills. Ambiance was very nice. Portions are sized so you can enjoy your appetizer and main. We had the brown butter shrimp, fry bread, steak skillet, and French toast sandwich. Mimosas are $6.

What a delightful lunch we had! Our server, Bri, was great....she told us she had just had the Korean fried chicken sandwich herself for lunch and that it was yummy....she was right!!!!!! It was awesome, and so were the homemade potato chips!!!!!!

The previous time was an experience I will never forget because I had the best Prime Rib experience of my life. This time however was a complete opposite. First, after the salad; which was nothing to write home about, we sat at least for 30 minutes waiting for our Prime Rib, and was then told by our waiter that our order had been "lost". So now we sat for an additional 15-20 minutes until our Prime Rib's appeared. And let me tell you, it wasn't worth waiting for, whatsoever. I had asked for an end-cut medium rare and what I got was more well done than rare. Anyway, I remembered how it previously had melted in my mouth, this time it was pretty tough, not what I was expecting. So, a very disappointing time was had.
