This review should have been posted in January! I just realized I never posted. Located at the very end of Mallory St next to the pier. This is a family run restaurant and the service was excellent. There are tables for two and a large table for a group. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated. I had the shrimp salad and it was not what I expected....it was better! Fresh and seasoned well. For dessert I had a pastry and my friend had a brownie. Both were great! I will visit this restaurant again when I am in the area for sure!! read more

Great espresso drinks, cocktails and even have exceptional bottles of wine. They have the best old fashioned I've ever had in Georgia. They use high quality ingredients and their shrimp and grits is also the best I've ever had. They make their own desserts and the cheesecake I had was incredible.Unbelievable price and quality during their 2-5 happy hour. Wonderful people too! We're usually Palm Coast fans for brunch, but since they were closed today, we decided to try somewhere different. We actually stopped at another restaurant first, but the wait was pretty long, so we ended up here instead. We were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait for the patio and only a short wait to sit inside. It was such a nice morning that we chose to eat outside. The staff was so friendly and attentive, and the menu had a great selection of both breakfast and lunch options, along with a really fun drink menu. We ordered matcha lattes, which were delicious, and they were making fresh donuts, so we had to try the peach one. It definitely didn't disappoint! Our waitress told us the pancake was one of her favorite things on the menu and said she was pretty picky about pancakes, so we ordered one for the table to share. She was right. It was thick, fluffy, and really good. For our meals, we had the Crab Cake Benedict, the Pier Connection, and the Chicken Club. All of them came with fresh fruit, which was fresh and delicious. The Crab Cake Benedict was my favorite. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the sauce was very tasty. The Pier Connection was huge. It looked like a three-egg cheese omelet on a croissant, and it was so filling I couldn't finish it. The Chicken Club was good, and my son really enjoyed it, but compared to the other two entrées, it just wasn't as filling. For the price, I think it would make more sense if it came with two sides instead of one. The bill was about what we expected for brunch, so there were no surprises there. The atmosphere is really charming, both inside and on the patio, and after such a great meal, all three of us said we'd definitely come back for brunch, lunch, or even just drinks! read more

We went to King City after church last Sunday. My husband and I thought, why haven't we come here more often after church? Then, we remembered. About 4 months ago we came after church and waited 1 hour for our food to come out, after being seated. This last experience took 1 hr 20mins before my husbands BLT came out. I had to wait 10 more minutes until my blueberry pancakes came out. We thought about leaving and at that point we would be waiting in line somewhere else. The waitress was very nice and kept apologizing, we asked after 45 mins what was the problem, she said look around the tables are all full. The problem is at other restaurants, they are very busy on Sundays, but we never have to wait long for food, once seated. She said the kitchen was small, and a lot of omelets to make. I think you need to do something about your Sunday service, it is not acceptable. I have eaten at your restaurant during the week, there is usually a long wait, but nothing like we have experience on Sundays. My pancakes were delicious, my husbands BLT had soft bacon, he requested crispy, but he ate it anyway. Love your restaurant, but something has to be done with the service. As we left, a table of 5 were leaving and they were talking about the wait time and how ridiculous it was to wait that long for food. read more

Worse, they don't split checks for parties larger than 5, they charge an automatic 22% gratuity and a 3% surcharge if you pay via credit card. In other words, they really would prefer if you eat at the other restaurants in town. Crab cake Balls: 3/5. Decent taste and comes with 5 large balls. Spinach salad: 3/5. Everything fresh. A great addition to The Pier Village area of St. Simons Island. Located close to the pier itself which is great for breakfast lunch or dinner. There is ample parking normally but during events or peak times may be challenging. The restaurant decor is nicely appointed with the interior walls being bare brick & ceiling having exposed beams . Roughly 8-9 tables of 4 inside along the wall, 7-8 spots at the counter & 5 tables of 4 outside which has coverage from the sun as well as 6-7 chairs on the side walk area that you can enjoy and adult beverage. During the Winter they have 4 heaters outside nicely spaced to keep you warm on cool evenings. The service was excellent. Sam our waiter/server was attentive and refilled drinks as well as made some recommendations. I had the Black & Blue Wagyu burger w/cucumber salad. The burger was very juicy with burger sauce (mayo, ketchup & mustard combined), tomato, lettuce and bacon. Excellent!! My friend had the Shrimp Po-boy also with cucumber salad. The shrimp were fried and placed into a French roll with Tatar sauce as well as lettuce and tomato. He said the shrimp were hot and were cooked perfectly. The cucumber salad is a cream type salad with ample amount of cucumber slices and dill. If you live on or are visiting St. Simons Island, this is an excellent spot to try. Extraordinary Mediocre. The appearance and ambience are nice. The restaurant looks like a nice little upscale place to have a meal. Unfortunately, the service, food, and cost were all a big letdown. Service was exceptionally slow, despite the place being relatively dead on a Saturday morning. The food was disappointing. The presentation and quality were lacking and the taste rather bland. For the price, I would have expected much better all the way around. Bottom line, it's a very mediocre restaurant charging excessive prices for what you're getting because it's a "beach" town that preys on tourists' wallets. If you're cool with that, great. We stumbled upon this adorable bistro after watching the sunset in St. Simons. We sat outside since we had dogs with us and the staff were so friendly and attentive. They have a full bar, coffee bar, and looks like they serve mostly brunch but offer dinner Thursday-Saturday. We came for dinner and it was fabulous. They served complimentary made in house rolls to start. We ordered the catch of the day & crab cakes. Honestly - THE BEST crab cakes I've ever had. We also splurged and got dessert which was also made fresh in house. I came for brunch, stayed for the disappointment. I ordered the crab cake benedict and instead I got what can only be described as a hard-boiled egg cosplay. The "poached" eggs were so fully cooked there wasn't a single drop of runny yolk, Just a firm hard boiled egg sitting on a crab cake wondering how it got here. To make it better? It had a subtle but undeniable burnt essence like someone whispered "charcoal" over the plate before sending it out. The hollandaise sauce tasted like it lost the will to live halfway through being made.And after waiting 38 minutes for this? Pain. Emotional damage. Everything I have had here has been good. They lose a star because they have limited hours already and we arrived at 12:40, they close at 2:00, we were told they are behind and not seating anymore. I come out to the island making sure I was not close to closing and still cannot get served, basically you are telling customers not to come because we never know when you are open. Some of the best food on the island! Chris and Kat have something absolutely wonderful going on here. Owned by the same family as Sandcastle (Kat's family). We loved the warm peach pepper jam over cream cheese with crustini as an appetizer and then savored wonderful fish specialties...stuffed flounder with crab meat served on fettuccine, red snapper with basmati rice and asparagus, and shrimp and grits with a divine bacon gravy. The mixed drinks were perfect and the company we met and chatted with were an added bonus. read more

Do not eat at King City Kitchen. The following are my personal observations. I ordered the breakfast plate which had eggs, meat, and my choice of grits. The eggs were of a rubber consistency and appeared to be made from some type of artificial egg product. The eggs were too consistent. I choice sausage for my protein. I received one patty the size of a 50 cent piece. the grits were an artificial cheese grit. I asked the server if they had grits without cheese. The answer was no indicating to me that the grits were a prepared commodity from their food purveyor. The grits were so watery they could have been eaten through a straw. It is a shame this place has opened in the same location as the old Sand Castle. The legacy has been destroyed by the King City Kitchen. I will never grace the door of the King City Kitchen. This place is owned by a non southerner based on the poor quality of the food! This place is a waste of time. Better to go to McDonald's and order a egg and sausage burrito!!! read more

Food was good and service was good, but they add 22% gratuity to the bill without the customer having any input. We were a party of 2 people and I would have also provided a generous tip (20%). They also do not charge for a CC use. While the $ would have come out about the same, I don't like the business choosing this for me without me having any input.
