Stopped by for a quick grab and go. Had a roast beef on rye and it was outstanding. Perfect meat to bread to veggies ratio. Bread was soft and the perfect thickness- not too much but it held all the inside without tearing. Pickle spear was a crunchy dill and was very good as well. The hostess was delightful- very helpful and friendly. I was stuffed with the sandwich but the carrot cake looked phenomenal so in an hour or so I will indulge. I took a taste and it is remarkable! Fresh food just about 1 1/2 miles off I-95. Small cafe with all the favorite sandwich choices. My husband raved about his Classic sandwich and side of potato salad. I had the BLT My only disappointment was the side of macaroni salad was not what I expected. Their version is made with tri colored spiral pasta, no Mayo. I didn't try it so I can't comment on the flavor. I certainly did not leave hungry. Posted on the white board are the two soup choices for that day. Another sign shows us the two dessert choices for the day. I got the huge chocolate chip cookie for the ride, and can say it was soft and yummy. Staff is so friendly, food came quickly, place is clean. Coke products ( yay!) So if you are tired of eating the same old fast food burger and fries, I suggest you take an extra couple three minutes off the Interstate and enjoy a sit down lunch at the Lunch Box. read more

Exterior They're located in a older strip mall a few doors down from Pizza Hut. Parking is plentiful but today they were painting the parking lot so several spaces were unavailable. Interior Bright (entire front 'wall' is nothing but windows) with a few wooden chairs and tables. There's no dedicated area for takeaway and the one person mans the phones, dine-in orders and takeaway / carryout orders. More on this later. Food I ordered the Ultimate. It's very much like Publix's Ultimate in that it comes with turkey, ham and roast beef. The sandwich comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheddar cheese, mayo and yellow mustard. I substituted Swiss instead of cheddar and spicy brown mustard instead of yellow mustard. And requested extra tomato, no onion. The price includes your choice of sea salt or bbq chips or any of their other sides. You can also choose from white, wheat, croissant, wraps, ciabatta or a hoagie roll. I really enjoyed my sandwich. When I lifted my bag it was heavy and I knew I was gonna be in for a treat. It had a good portion of meat and lots of lettuce and tomato. I ate a little under a half of my sandwich and will have the rest for lunch tomorrow. No stars deducted for any of this but: The only thing I didn't love is the fact that I requested no pickle spear because ever since my first pregnancy, the smell of pickles actually makes me dry-heave and they forgot and gave me the pickle spear anyway. And the bottom of my container had pickle brine all over it as well. Also - it was a little messy because they opted to put the shredded lettuce on TOP of the tomato so every time I tried to take a bite, my lettuce was falling off and the bread was sliding all over the place. But once I got home I just re-arranged it so that the tomato slices were on top to anchor and weigh the shredded lettuce. I'm not sure because it seems like it's a bit of uncommon knowledge but there's typically a reason why sandwich toppings are layered a certain way. Sometimes, its a taste thing and it has to do with how our taste buds are positioned on our tongue and other times its practicality. For instance, I will never understand why some people put burger toppings underneath the hot burger patty. It cooks the lettuce! But I digress ... back to my review: Customer Service This is actually my third attempt to dine here. The first time - the line was so long I gave up. We were all clustered around the register as one person sloooooowly, indecisively placed their order. The person taking orders is friendly and patient and really enjoys chatting with the regulars so the ordering process can be a bit slow. The second time, there were only a handful of people in line, but one person was placing a huge order and since, once again, I had to be back at the house to meet with a contractor in 30 minutes, I left because I didn't think they'd have time to make my sandwich. Today, I called twice before I got through (busy signal) then I was put on hold while the associate took two sandwich orders. And I started calling early - as soon as they opened. (They are only open weekdays from 11am - 3pm. The associate who placed me on hold took two orders before I disconnected. I waited twenty minutes and called back. The third time I called was the charm and I was finally able to place my order. Lol. So, in other words, be patient and tenacious - they're worth it. Price / Value I think the food is priced well. The ingredients tasted fresh and the sandwich was hearty and the produce was excellent. I also LOVE the fact that the pricing is straightforward and upfront. Surprisingly there's no insane upcharge if you decide you want grapes or pasta salad instead of chips as your side. Overall I will definitely be back. I'd love to try their soups. Today they had tomato basil, chicken noodle (in the cooler) and New England Clam Chowder. If I lived in the area, this would be a regular spot for sure. If they had a more streamlined ordering process (or if I wasn't operating on the whims and the the beck and call of numerous repair people and contractors) this would easily be a 5 star review. read more

Not sure why it took me so long to get lunch here but I'm so glad I did. Sooooooo glad. The restaurant is located in a shopping center but, not hard to spot. Large windows advertise the business so it stands out. Lots of parking is always available. The business is super clean and has a deli feel. The employees (and I assume owners) were very attentive. The weekly specials were on a large white board, visible as soon as you enter. I got a menu and my husband went for the Friday special. I chose the half sandwich and side. Everything was priced decently and the specials are a good value, with a side and drink. My Reuben and potato salad were amazing. My husband's sandwich had a fabulous pesto mayo. We also got chocolate cake to share that was locally made and perfect. Everyone in town raves about The Lunch Box and I'm now officially a fan. We will definitely be back. read more

We were enroute to southern florida after spending the night in Dunn, NC and we needed to stop for gas and grab some lunch. The options by the gas station looked dismal so of course I went on Yelp to see what local gems were nearby. The Lunch Box popped up with many 5 star reviews, and here comes another! From the outside it doesn't look like much but don't let that deter you. The place has several cute tables to sit down at. There is no table service but Jill , the owner, was happy to take our order! We ordered The Ultimate sandwich on rye bread and a bowl of their tomato basil soup. Her husband Rich brought out the food , super fast, to our table. Even added the extra plate and spoons so we could share. These portions are hearty and the food was delicious! This sandwich was plenty for two people to share as was the bowl of soup! They even have desserts and of course we bought a huge slice of coconut cake for later! I highly recommend The Lunch Box , if you're local or as a quick meal entroute to Florida or north. The lunch box is the place where locals go for a deli lunch. It is a good value and certainly better for you healthwise than the choices right off the highway. And it's only a few minutes drive from 95.
