Great place! I come here for breakfast with a friend who is celiacs and she loves the gluten free waffles. They had a pretty interesting take on an omelette where they cook it in the waffle iron. It was actually delicious. read more

The space is not big, but the seats close to the window are quite nice. I ordered merican brunch, which is the first time that I tried waffle dressed with balsamic reduction. read more

Love what the owners, Anne & Cindy, are doing here. I ordered a latte, and it was delicious. The shop is small, but detailed and thoughtful--super cozy. I was served by Anne and she was as kind as anyone you'll find in the area (smart too). Do yourself a favor and go here one morning before your 9am grind. Support some local talent and enjoy some great coffee. read more

Perhaps the best latte in Hamilton, if not southern Ontario. Definitely the best London fog, as they make their own vanilla syrup and the drink is not a sugar bomb as often happens. Menu is limited to dishes made from homemade waffles, however gluten-free options are available. Everything except for the donuts is home-baked. read more

I went in to order coffee and a scone and I was not impressed with having to spend over $8 when it would perhaps cost me $5 at most for more coffee and scone elsewhere. But the pleasant staff and relaxed atmosphere made up for it. I am reluctant to go back, but have heard good things about the food l. read more

Delicious black bean soup, yummy cinnamon scone, and a great latte. Friendly staff, to top it off. Check this place out!

Great food, good service. Sitting area is small and quaint. Very nice. Recomend place for breakfast and lunch!

Can't recommend. The coffee was barely adequate. The whole cafe smelled like bacon, which is not what a cafe is supposed to smell like. That odour gets in everything and that included my clothes just from sitting there for a few minutes to drink a cup of mediocre coffee. Decor is super cute, as is in the neighbourhood! The staff was overly friendly - in the way that you know they're coached. Totally disingenuous. read more

Love this coffee shop. Great coffee, great donuts and great atmosphere. Awesome spot to come hang out and chat with a friend or catch up on some work. read more

OMG where to start? This is without a doubt my new favourite place in the entire world. The environment is so peaceful and positive and it's impossible to be in bad mood when you're here. The restaurant is clean and the decor is perfect. My food was absolutely amazing! I have never had such great tasting food in my life. I had the classic waffles with added whipped cream and fruit and it melted away in my mouth. The peppermint tea is so pure and fresh and makes me feel so ZEN. I will definitely be coming back many more times ! Thanks for the great experience read more

The California brunch is a must!!! Great combination of flavours. Be patient, they take some time to prepare the meals. The coffee is delicious. read more

I had breakfast at cannon coffee today and ordered an egg panini sandwich with bacon and tomato. It was pretty alright. Mostly though, I was impressed they made it gluten-free. The price point was good, and seeing as they had just cleaned their panini machine I was sure it was free from cross contamination. This is a not bad place for celiacs to go if they're looking for a quick bite to eat. Not the type of place for a sit down breakfast, however. read more

Very good waffles! The very slow service and steep prices, however, will make me think twice before returning.

Amazing corner coffee shop. The best vanilla latte I've ever had! I also had a waffle with fruit and whipped cream. It did not disappoint! The atmosphere is light and inviting but can get quite congested. Would definitely visit again for the food. read more

Cannon coffee is a great spot to socialize and have good coffee. And their staff is super friendly and sweet :)

Love the Cannon and everything about it! Great people, amazing coffee and delicious food.

Great place but non vegan pastry options are very sparse. I'd love to see non vegan donuts and pastries.

This place is a hidden waffle heaven great staff n cook great coffee will be back they serve waffles till 4 everyday

While this place is quaint and seems like the ideal community coffee shop, if you frequent this place often, you'll come to find the coffee is good, but usually warm if not cold. The food is good, menu creative. Only two out of the staff are actually friendly, personable and genuine. The rest including the owner seems like they could care less about you or your repeat business. It's extremely loud. To the point, you can forget about a phone conversation or a nice coffee convo date with a friend, unless you like to shout at each other. Oh and let's not leave out the fact that the seating is HORRIBLE. The owner seems to think that one giant bench that runs along the entire side of the wall for every person that sits on it is created equal. If you come relaxed or want to zone in on your work, and you have someone who just plops themselves abruptly on the bench, trust me you will feel it, and along with the racket going on, it's not comfortable and totally disruptive. It's either that or you get front and centre along the window with the sun beaming onto your face. I love the sun, but the seating in front of the window was not thought through. To make matters worse, the outlets are directly alongside the back edge of the bench, accounting for numerous times of bending down onto their dirty floors with both knees to insert my cables only to have me bang my head on the table or actually shock myself. It amazes me they haven't caught on to this considering I've seen so many patrons go through this. Lastly, while the food smells good at times, for the most part, it smells like burnt bacon. Oh but it gets better! Stay at least 20 minutes, and your hair and clothes will smell like it too! I think this place would be great, if the menu didn't emphasize on bacon, it wasn't so loud you leave with a headache, it was a little cheaper and less pretentious and the owner took a little more time to acknowledge the repeat customers who pay into the business and less time socializing and bragging with friends. read more

This place is great. Small place with very friendly people. The latte was really worth the trip as it was delicious. I tried their waffle sandwich which truthfully seemed a bit out there for me, but it was great. I would come back for both the coffee and the people. I watched one of the staff run across the street in cold weather to bring coffee and food to people working at a store across the street. Going out of the way for others was encouraging to see. read more

Great little corner breakfast spot with delicious food and great coffee. Perfect for a Sunday morning or brunch. small but cozy. Would def recommend it! read more

Perfect coffee, perfect food, and nice and friendly people. The waffle was really crispy not like the squishy ones we usually get in the city. Menus were very vegetarian-friendly. We were tourists hanging around in the suburbs between Toronto and Niagara Falls. We didn't expect to see such a great coffee shop in a small Canadian town. The staffs chatted with us and gave some advice on our itinerary. Definitely one of the most cherished moment in our trip. read more

This place serves amazing waffle sandwiches. I had the 'Merican sandwich and it was so darn delicious. My wife and son had the classic waffle with chocolate drizzle and they loved it. They have a variety of Dawson's sauces that you try on your waffle. Loved our brunch here. We will surely be back when we are in Hamilton next time. read more

Had the Canadian Brunch waffle alongside my fiancé and we both loved it! It included poached eggs and bacon on an apple waffle. I enjoyed the combination of the sweet and savory tastes of the waffle. I also tried their pumpkin chai latte. Fantastic overall. read more

The Cannon is a great, comfortable place to enjoy a French press coffee, a well made latte, or a delicious waffle at any time of day. Smack on the corner there are huge windows facing clear down Cannon St to the east, and a wide view of the Ottawa St locale, making it the perfect place to people watch and forget about the hustle and bustle of everything else for a short while. While the drinks and atmosphere are great on their own, it has always been the fabulous staff that makes every trip of mine to The Cannon a memorable one! read more

Went for the second time yesterday, to start off our wander around the Ottawa Street antique shops. Cannon Coffee is a lovely spot, with a warm front window featuring a communal table and very good food and treats. Hand-poured coffee and a very spicy Mexican chocolate cookie was excellent fuel for the afternoon. On our previous visit in early February, we had breakfast waffles topped with perfectly poached eggs. My only quibble is that the waffles could be slightly crisper. Otherwise, we will return again! read more

Such a great place! The staff are warm and the food is tasty. Only complaint that it gets pretty packed in there so planning a sit down is sometimes not possible. read more

Yummy breakfast waffles!! There's not really table service which is confusing at first. It's a bit pricey but on occasion I quite enjoy it. Muffins, scones, donuts and coffee too! read more

Went here on a whim on our way from the Falls to Toronto, INCREDIBLE food and service. I cannot remember the last time I had a waffle, their gluten free options are wonderful! read more

Best coffee shop in Hamilton. Friendly staff. Great food and drink. Always fresh. Try their muffins. They are amazing.

Best caps in the city. Hands down. I need to find more excuses to drive from Ancaster to Ottawa st just to have one.

My favourite cafe in Ontario. The waffle sandwiches are delectable and you can get your waffles vegan if you like! Their coffee is divine. I've opted for the pour-over every time I go because it's just been so delicious! Lightly roasted and skillfully brewed coffee means I can taste every flavour that is supposed to be there (and as someone who isn't a coffee expert, I always get really excited when I can pick out what the coffee actually tastes like). The baristas are crazy friendly and will actually sit down with regulars to chat when it's not too busy. The atmosphere is warm and bright. Prices are east-Hamilton cheap. Someone else said it and was spot on -- The Cannon is the cafe that Ottawa St. deserves. Keep it coming! read more

If you live anywhere near The Cannon, you should definitely visit. It's the perfect place to stop for a break from your antique shopping on Ottawa St...I've done it many times! I'm all about high quality beverages...I sell top quality loose leaf tea, so I expect my coffee to be similarly high quality! I've always been REALLY happy with my food and beverages here! Their waffles are incredible, and I need to mention that they usually have some gluten free snacks and desserts available! Also, the location is super cute and I always have great, cheerful service. read more

My daughter and I took a walk and found our way here. Nice little coffee shop with limited seating. We both got the 'merican waffle sandwich. I had an Americano to drink and my daughter had an iced tea. We had to wait a fair bit for our sandwich but the wait was worth it. Both bitter and sweet almost a perfect combination. We will return. read more
