I got to Yelp in Castle Rock today. And it was for this cute cake shop in the heart of Castle Rock downtown. And it's none other than the Cake Company. I had a side hustle job assignment in the very neighborhood mid-afternoon. And I simply didn't want to go there, work, leave and get home; I wanted to discover a business I have never been to. I hence googled bakeries and this cake shop came up. According to a little research, this shop opened its doors in January of 2021 by two sisters who are Colorado natives. This element added more excitement to my quick visit I made today. The Cake Company is adorable. From the exterior signage to the interior decors, everything that decorates the whole space matches the theme of the store. Mostly pink and off-white, they not only sell beautifully crafted cupcakes, pies, rice crispies, cinnamon rolls, to name a few, they also sell some gifts such as wine glasses, t-shirts, journal books, tote bags, mug cups, I mean you name it!! I was at awe standing in front of the showcase that displays all sorts of sweets. When one of the ladies upfront greeted me with a very peppy welcoming tone, she kindly said to take my time. I thus allowed myself to be indecisive for several minutes to take my time (LOL!!) Whereas the pies and cheesecakes to the right looked amazing, they also appeared a bit too big and decadent. Since I only needed one good piece of some delicious something, I opted for a cupcake as they aren't as big as the other sweets. Upon asking the same lady which ones are the most popular, she said it was either Berry Tilly or Better Than Sex. My instinct told me to go with the latter: Better Than Sex. The different lady transacted my purchase. She carefully put my cupcake in a single cupcake box. Just so you know, their boxes are tilt-free so your sweet stuff won't tilt inside it (unless you violently shake the box!) The cupcakes are $6 each. And yet, if you buy 6 or more, each price is reduced to $5.50 up to 11. If you buy 12 or more, each price is reduced to $5.00. 20% discount will be added if you purchase 3 dozens. The shop does sell gluten free ones and yet any of the discounts I mentioned don't appear to apply to them. After the purchase, I looked to the left to discover a little entry way to the store next door. It's Lost Coffee. The customers are free to go in and out between the two shops. This means that you can take your cupcake to the next store and have some coffee or tea to pair with it. This is another store that has this symbiotic relationship with their next-door neighbor business. I always find the concept so intriguing. Businesses help each other. As soon as I got back to my car, I immediately opened the box and started to dig in. And wow....I know this is such an ordinary statement but I will say it: this is/was by far the best cupcake I've ever had. It was perfectly moist in the sponge part with the perfect sweetness. After one bite, it was simply impossible for me to stop eating it although I wanted to save some for later. The cupcake thus disappeared so quickly in a matter of 2-3 minutes. Their cupcakes are phenomenal. There is no way you'll buy cupcakes from other places once you have experienced theirs. I am already pondering as to when I should go back. I adore this place! So cute, great location in Castle Rock downtown, the friendliest staff, and out-of-this-world desserts that really hit the spot when you have a sweet tooth! We are creatures of habit and love grabbing a slice of PB pie. Just thinking about it has my mouth watering! Their pies are whipped and light but still so rich and delicious! If you're a PB lover, I highly recommend. The cupcakes here are decent with good texture, decent sweetness, though the prices lean boutique. I really appreciated the staff's commitment to inclusivity. One of the special needs women in the back came out to say hello while we were browsing. She had a really confident energy, which is amazing to see in a support program like this. It's great when local businesses provide opportunities for everyone to shine, even those who might not typically have front-of-house roles. That kind of courage to put people forward, regardless of their disability, speaks volumes. I am so impressed by this bakery! Everything was fresh and beautifully presented, and the service was very friendly. We tried several different items and really enjoyed each one so much that we forgot to take photos. -NY cheesecake cupcake: this was a vanilla cupcake with a strawberry cheesecake mousse filling, topped with a cheesecake mousse and a cherry pie filling. The texture of the mousse was perfect, too heavy or thick. The flavors worked very well together and it was not too sweet. The graham cracker crust at the bottom of the cupcake was a fun touch as well. -Sprinkle cake scraps: they had a couple cake flavors sold as a container of scraps covered with a layer of frosting. I thought this was a great way to reduce food waste, and you got a lot of cake for the price ($6, same as a cupcake). The cake was very moist, and the white chocolate mousse was delicious. -Banana cream pie slice: this was a delicious variation of a traditional banana cream pie! It had a graham cracker crust, a layer of banana mixed with dark chocolate ganache, topped with a vanilla pastry cream and whipped cream. The different textures of each layer worked perfectly together. Between the slight grit and saltiness from the crust and the addition of chocolate to the banana layer, this dessert was very well-balanced and difficult to put down. Overall, I was so impressed by the quality and presentation of everything! We will definitely return to try more cake flavors and some of their other desserts (the fresh cinnamon rolls sounded amazing). Worth a visit for sure! read more

I came here once before, but didn't get a chance to take pictures. And I still forgot to take pictures of my cupcakes, but the customer service was great. I went after getting my coffee from next-door, which is super convenient and very cute little walk-through area. The gluten-free cupcakes are delicious and you can't even tell the difference between the full gluten and not gluten-free versions! They are not crumbly or dry. They're very moist, fluffy and flavorful. I love coming here for a treat yourself or girls day. And taking a stroll in the rest of area. Amazing cakes! When we're in downtown we usually have a coffee next door and grab a couple of their top notch cupcakes however the best cake is their Key Lime Pie. Probably the best one I've had. I passed by this place while attending a walking tour of downtown Castle Rock. After the tour ended I decided to stop by and check them out. I've always loved gourmet cakes and cupcakes. They have a marvelous display of cupcakes! I ended up ordering, Better Than Sex, Pumpkin Spice, Irish Cream, and Chocolate Dipped Strawberry. Cupcakes tasted phenomenal! Cake was moist and not dried out at all. I do not like when stores sell dried out cake or cupcakes. It just ruins it for me. All the cupcake flavors blended well. I offered one to a friend of mine who really enjoyed it! He was impressed too. The staff member who took my order was barely paying attention as I ordered and paid. I recommend better attentiveness to patrons. Notwithstanding this observation I will definitely return here. I'm so glad they're a little pricey because I would be ordering cupcakes every week or weekend! Keep up the good work! As another reviewer wrote, this place can be "dangerous for your waistline." Agreed! Also, place is clean and no public restrooms, of course. Also, there is no place to sit down and enjoy your cupcakes so it's to go only. I had the Irish Cream cupcake with my coffee this morning and it was delicious! Great combo! I had my cake delivered, since my son is special needs and I couldn't go pick it up in person. This business is extremely unprofessional, when I emailed my disappointment in the cake they just said "Sorry, we understand if you don't work with us again" wth? No credit/ no refund/ they offered no compensation. My special needs child cried all weekend for his cake, and his birthday was ruined. They put no effort into making his cake, just a plain cake with cake toppers, and then had the audacity to charge $150 for it. I could of purchased a $20 cake from Walmart and put cake toppers on it. Found this place by accident after grabbing a coffee at Lost Coffee shop. With fresh pies and crazy good cupcakes, even though I'm not a sweet tooth, it's worth the experience. This place is seriously dangerous for your waistline! Honestly, one of the best cupcake I have ever had. I tried a German chocolate cake one but they have tons of traditional as well as unique options. Its in downtown Castle rock so plenty of parking near the shop (they have a parking lot as well as street parking). We were greeted up front by a friendly associate who came out from the production Bakery in the back and helped us make our difficult gourmet cupcake selections out of their amazing display case. So i stopped going but luckily this little gem opened up. Don't use The Cake Company! Order two pies on December 6 to be picked up on Dec. 24 at 3:00pm. Confirmation confirmed the date and time. On the 24th we left home at 1:30pm to pick up a few things for Christmas Eve dinner and pick up the pies on our way home. We arrive at the shop at 2:45pm and they are closed. Sign in the window indicated they closed early. We get home and there is a voice mail delivered at 1:45pm that we should pick up the pies before 2:00pm because they are closing early. So, no pies for dinner. I called on Dec. 27 and was told they had called to notify us of the early closing so they did their due diligence and it was my fault for not getting the pies. The girl with short hair that works the cash register has been nothing but rude each time we go in, we took a friend in yesterday during the Octoberfest , my friend bought some stuff and she came out of the store and said well that lady was rude, not friendly and got annoyed when she asked for a bag.
