Box is clear but no warning about why the ages are required or that kids will be turned away if the limit has been reached
    Ben P.

My family really loves this place so I leave this review with regret. On Friday my 7 year old kid had the day off so she asked if she could go to Cafe Meow as a special outing. Of course we said yes: we love the mission of Cafe Meow and who doesnt like hanging out with kitties! I went online to make a reservation and saw that there were two options available: one for ages 11+, and another for 7-10. I thought, weird, maybe its for a kids discount? The box for 7-10 was greyed out, but I could still select 2 for general admission, and the price was the same either way so I assumed there was a bug in the website. I clicked all the disclaimers, paid, and showed up for my reservation. When we arrived to check in however the staff informed us that there were already the maximum number of children for that time slot, and my child would not be allowed to enter. They then told us they couldnt offer a refund and instead told us to email their business email. When I went back to look at the website I did see that the policy regarding how many kids were allowed at a time was stated on the site. Unfortunately it is buried in a long list, no highlights, no differentiation from other items like "No running" or "Use inside voices". Same with the disclaimers: yes, I take the blame for not reading them carefully. I did not argue when they turned away my child: I shouldve read before clicking. When I emailed the business email for a refund, however, they refused to offer a refund, even though there are no warnings on the confirmation page that say admission will be refused if there are too many kids. Again, I assumed the only reason I couldn't pick "Kids" as an option was because of a website error, and I also assumed that the reason for the two options was for a kids discount. Since the price was the same I did not think twice about just selecting 2 General Admission tickets. Obviously I know better now. I dont take any issue with the staff turning us away. The kitties need to have a max number of kids. But to not offer a refund for an honest mistake is very disappointing and will make me reconsider ever returning to this location. PS I get that a refund means a loss of $20 for the business since someone else couldn't enter. But right after we were turned away a couple showed up wanting to purchase entry at the door and they were turned away as well, even though we had just cleared two spots. This is a problem. Customers clear their days to come to your location. We are making sacrifices too to patronize your business. I think the staff on site should be empowered to provide onsite customer service instead of directing customers to an email.

Holy cats! How have I never been here living in such close proximity? Let it be clear, I am not a cat person, but Cafe Meow makes me want to be (even though I am allergic). I really like the entire concept here and the parking situation is easy. Due to my allergies, I usually can't spend a lot of time in places like these, however, Cafe Meow keeps the cats 100% separated from the cafe allowing me to enjoy the space, games, peaceful atmosphere and coffee. There is natural lighting inside thanks to the front big windows and adequate working space. As a remote employee, I look forward to bringing my laptop here one day and getting into the zone. For the cat lovers, you can setup a time to visit and play with the cats online. Every cat here is up for adoption. In addition, there is the cutest gift shop section including totes, mugs, stickers, coloring books, cat collars, pens, soaps and more. My visit today was extremely special as I witnessed an artist drawing the most magical photo of cats which eventually got hung up on the wall. This artist gives a portion of the profits to the rescue that the animals come from. Note: there is no food but they do have little nibbles of sweets and chips. Thank you, Cafe Meow!

The place is so cute! There's a separate room where the cats are at! You can order your drink and watch the kitties through the windows as you wait. I ordered "The cafe meow" coffee with oatmilk! It was so good! But I should've ordered it iced! anyways. You can reserve a spot to go in with the kittens. I just saw them through the windows since my husband is allergic.

A fun hour with the family! We made a reservation for 6 people at 11am on a Saturday for $15/person. It's a great concept- the cafe hosts about 30 foster kittens and there are always people who want to play with cats. The cats are pretty friendly! Just make sure to adhere to the rules and approach them cautiously. Coffee prices are about the same as what you'd see in other coffee shops. It would be nice if the coffee prices were a bit lower since people are already paying $15/person to be there, but I think it all goes towards a good cause anyways.

I'm going to channel my inner Maria Von Trapp and say that "these are a few of my favorite things..." Cats and coffee . This place is great! For $15 you get to hangout with several cats (which are up for adoption) for 1hr. When you walk into the coffee shop, you check in, place you coffee or tea order, listen to the rules and go to the cat area, then the server bring your order into the cat area for you to enjoy! The beverage have cute feline theme names.

This place was delightful! Not sure why not all 5-star reviews, but people hate over the most Karen-esque level issues lol. Anyways I showed up on a weekday evening. About 6 people in the cafe area and 6 in cat room. I was surprised by all the cat-a-riffic swag! I definitely bought cat magnet, cat sticker, rainbow cat toy, and am tempted to buy wall art haha. I got a lavender latte and it was delightful. The door is wheelchair accessible and has an automated button - one does not see that often, so yay!! Variety of seating. Cozy chairs by a table, regular cafe chairs and table, counters, and long table with benches. I didn't do the cat thing b/c my budget won't allow me to spend $10.50 since I bought a ton of goodies and also have cats at home. But the kitties seem happy and folks in that room seem happy!! I'd totally come back.

This is England, he was already adopted, otherwise I would have taken him home with me! A super sweetheart.

What a wonderful place to come and experience the cats. I am so grateful places like this exist after I lost my beloved cat Reeba 2.5 months ago. Coming to enjoy the cats and their friendliness really helped smooth my soul and allowed me to share my love with these spiritual animals. I love that they are available for adoption and the staff were not only extremely knowledgeable about the process, but also brewed me a delicious cup of coffee to boot! Be prepared to buy a slot of time to visit the cats. If it's busy you might not be able to get into the cat room. It's extremely reasonably priced by the hour to be with the cats and I would gladly be back again with my husband to enjoy the cat company again.

If you're a crazy cat lady like me, The Cafe Meow is a must! I finally made a visit one Saturday using a coupon I got from the Uptown quarterly. I went with two friends who didn't have a coupon but they bought a deal of Groupon to get a cat lounge hour for two. When we first arrived there was already a group in the cat lounge so we had to wait about an hour. For some reason, one of the workers was extremely rude to my friends and told them in a very non-friendly tone that they were supposed to call ahead to make a reservation to use the Groupon. Which I can understand that they prefer people to call ahead but I don't understand why it was necessary for them to be rude when we were just going to wait an hour anyways and we were more than okay with that... ? Anyways that was a bad start to the whole experience. We then ordered some coffee and walked around Uptown to kill time. The cafe part is really cute and there's plenty of space there for waiting. They also have a fantastic retail section to get gifts for your favorite cat people! When it came time to go into the cat lounge, I was impressed by how organized it was with letting the group know of all the rules and regulations and what to expect. They do a great job with processes to keep the cats and guests safe. Inside the cat lounge most of the kitties were pretty tired out and just sleeping. There were a few who were awake and feeling active. They were all very sweet and overall I fell in love with a few! The Cafe Meow has an EXCELLENT adoption rate so this would be the first place I would go if I were looking to adopt! I can see myself going here again if I ever am in desperate cat time need or with a group who wants to go. But other than that I haven't been back since the first time.

Came back for another round of kitty heaven. They still have yummy treats, great drinks, and this batch of adoptable cats is even more friendly than last time. We'll be back again!

Visiting from Hawaii! We were so stoked to find The Cafe Meow in Minnesota! My fiance had been missing our furr babies at home since he's been here in MN for work. This is exactly what he needed. The young lady who worked that day was extremely sweet, welcoming, and helpful. I'm so thankful she was such a sweet person because I needed this for my next stop at the Lowry which ended awfully. So thank you Cafe Meow for sending me off in a great mood. We ordered some drinks and hung out with some cool cats. Hehe cool cats... I did get rejected by 2 cats but that's ok. I was loved by a cute sleepy Siamese. This cat cafe is absolutely adorable. I loved the interior with all the perches and furniture laid out for the babies! They were so at ease in this setting. If I lived here, I probably would've gone home with 3 or so cats lol instead, I went home with some toys and an epic tote! I recommend all cat lovers far and near to come check out this Cafe Meow. This place will give you a good start to your day. It is just puuuuurrrfect! And get some toys on your way out! Your babies will looove them! Just a little info for people unfamiliar with cats... Cats will come to you on their own. They each have their own personality so don't be sad if one doesn't want to play or be pet. Also, absolutely do not pick them up. If they want to be held, you'll know when they jump on your lap and cuddle up to you. It's a trust thing. So be patient and understanding please. You'll be happy you did when you become chosen.

Great place to relax and chill with some felines. Phil sure took a shine to me and if I could I'd invite him to come live with me full time. All the cat and human staff there were great. The hour in the cat lounge went by so fast thanks to the feline representatives who made sure the humans visiting them felt welcome.

I came back the next day and got a banh mi that was HUGE and delicious. The "House" is about ten bucks and that is a great deal for such a large, stuffed sandwich. They cut it in half and you can absolutely consider splitting it with someone or making two meals of it. Tons of Asian flavors on fresh-baked baguette bread. Absolutely outstanding. I brought home some treats from the pastry display, including an above average vanilla eclair and some macarons, one of which is super big! It's like hamburger sized, look at my picture. All of it really good. The service is very pleasant and upbeat, and it's a cute, homey space. I love this bakery!

The pandan dessert had really good pandan flavor, but the inside was a little too sweet and rich for me. I split it up into a few dessert meals. The owner was really nice and gave a free French bread, which I also liked. It wasn't too thick and it had a nice crisp to the outside. Contrary, coming into the intimate home shop in Saint Paul hit different. As a Saint Paul girly, I absolutely adore small businesses. Marc Heu has a great location across from the co-op on Dale. Due to the pastry lineup altering so frequently, there are no signs detailing the pastry product so there is definitely interaction with staff members to ensure you are getting what you want. The staff is attentive, dressed in uniform and ready to take orders with a note pad upon arrival. Fortunately both days I have went, there were no lines but I also understand lines are common here which is something to be aware of. Inside there are small circular tables to enjoy your pastry and or coffee in. I would not recommend bringing a laptop as this is a tiny shop with an emphasis on eating, mingling and departing. Other reviews will dink stars because they will say the pricing is high however, I think, the pricing is reasonable giving the high quality of baking effort and the quality of service provided. In addition, this is not a spot to come 24/7, rather, special moments such as a birthday, holiday or celebration. With that, I feel like the price is justified. Line or not - the pasty variety is outstanding! My husband and I had a donut with a spiced icing and some other filling and every bite we kept saying yum or oh my gosh this is so good. Inspired from France, you will 100% feel transported as the shop itself resembles France from the interior and obviously the baking follows suit. The display case is the center of attention when you walk in. I highly recommend stopping when in Saint Paul or purchasing at a coffee shop should you happen to see the line of Marc Heu. There are a few other stores in the area, otherwise, Grand Avenue is right up the road should you want to make a day of supporting local. Saint Paul is so lucky to have a slice of France in our city. Thank you!
