The Cafe has an excellent breakfast! The are one of the few places that cook my scrambled eggs perfectly. Grits are creamy and tasty, bacon crispy but not over cooked, biscuits golden and perfect, pancakes fluffy. Service is excellent and prices reasonable. I'm going back for their steak night. Food is great, especially the steaks and fried shrimp. Services is seriously slacking, very disorganized. Had to wave down a waitress to get an order in to the kitchen, then no drinks and once again had to leave table to get drinks. Food came, no tarter for shrimp or butter for potato. , I had asked server for tarter but was forgotten once again. No refills on drinks and had to get get my own trays for left overs. We went here for breakfast and got the pancake, bacon and two breakfast sammies. Service was excellent. Staff was so friendly and sweet with our toddlers. Food was simple but fresh and delicious. I have to mention that the bacon looked like run of the mill bacon but the flavor was so smoky and tasty - I don't know what magic they are working back there. I do think the egg sandwich needs a cheese on there to hold it all together but I'm sure they'd add it for you. Would definitely go back. read more

Well. It is a small town cafe. Family run, from what I could gather from conversation. Service was friendly enough. We sat next to the. At window so I could keep an eye on my trailer, which was loaded with lumber. I got a egg sandwich and she got the omelet. My fried egg sandwich , well , too simply made? I expected more than what I got, it almost seemed as if I stole a little kid's snack. Her omelet was thick and looked really good, that is, until you cut into it and find a bladder full of nothing but cheese and more cheese. So much cheese my goatee grew before we left. The pied piper would of used this that fateful night. I'm not a local here, so the chances that I would stop back in here is pretty slim. As a guest, I've been in the kitchen, the floors are slippery with grease or cooking oil, I've watched the cook not wash hands after handling raw meat then handling other foods and breads, I believe if thew health department woould make a suprise visit they would shut them down till proper food handling procedures were posted and understood. Put a camera in the kitchen and you'll discover how the cook and others handle your food. I don't see any real safety guidlines being followed on food preperations, one cook can't speak english. read more

My husband and I just got through eating breakfast here. We opted for the buffet which was a huge mistake. The food was stone cold. Nothing was seasoned at all. When asked if everything was ok, I actually told her the food was cold. She said she could see steam but didn't go test the food for temperature. She just wanted our money. I had the Pancake Platter, and I can't rave about it enough. This is a small town cafe. It has great cooks, service, and food. Been going here a while. Open Monday through Friday for breakfast and lunch. They close around 2pm but open at 7 am. If you need something all you have to do is say something. Don't hold back when you need something. They will take care of you. Bring a tip because for the service you receive the quality of food the family friendly atmosphere you are going to regret not leaving one. The buffet is great. The schedule for the buffet is set. Only issues I have is it is not open more. I wish they had a dinner or as we like to say in the South sum supper. Breakfast, I suggest the red gravy on your biscuits cost a little extra but make what can't be improved on even better. Lunch, I suggest to not rock the boat dine in and get the buffet. I was meeting a friend today in Kentwood and neither of us knew where to eat. I hopped on Google and found "The Cafe". It wasn't the cutest looking restaurant from the outside, but the food and the service more than made up for it on the inside. As luck would have it thursday is buffet day! The stuffed peppers were probably the best I've ever eaten. The redbeans and rice, the vegetables, and the mac-n-cheese were also delicious. My favorite thing about The Cafe was the service. These are some good ole southern folks. THEY know how to cook, and how to make you feel right at home. I can't wait to go back. I really want to try some of the local favorites from the menu.
