No, it's hard to be, they're coffee. You could taste the different notes in the coffee. The owner is one of the sweetest ladies you'll ever meet. This was my go to spot up until not too long ago and that's only because they're not open before my son goes to school.And their clothes before he gets out.And as my son says he needs his coffee. I love the way they got the place set up. I could hang out there all day. Sometimes it can get a little crowded. But what well established place with good food and amazing coffee wouldn't be. Here we go in and you're not sure what you like. As for a sampler They'll bring you different copies. And you can try, I want to go in and do it just to try the different ones to see what I like. There might be something out there that I like even better than what I already get. I hope the owner's there when you go through If you don't know her, you should definitely meet her... Foods always been plentiful and pleasant here. The seating is spunky and looks cool but ends up feeling awkward. The service is professional and kind. This a good spot for a quick lunch or meeting up with someone. They've also opened their doors for Christian and community events which is respectable and wholesome. This use to be one of my favorite spots in town but lately I've been a bit let down. The food and coffee is still pretty solid but the service is just not good. I understand it's a lot of work, but I feel like the past two times I've been there I'm seen as a nuisance to the employees. Great local coffee shop! I stopped here earlier this week when I was in town to visit a customer. Very polite and welcoming staff. A great coffee menu as well. I had the Red Eye: a coffee with a shot of espresso. It was really good and helped get my motor running for my meeting. I really enjoyed the atmosphere as well. It's a pretty happening place. Cute little cafe with lots of books and art. I tend to always get the homemade chicken cranberry pecan salad and their daily soup. It's light and seems healthy (not sure about the mayo) there's also coffee options/ smoothie options and ice cream. You place your order at the counter, they give you a number to place on your table so they have deliver your food; however you must get your own silverware! So not sure why to tip, as if you deliver the food to the table the silverware should accompany it. There's also a water jug next to the silverware where you can get a cup of water. I love the cozy feel In here seems like a spot you could find in Asheville, NC. Wish they had some "warm bowl options, like quinoa with a protein" maybe in the future they will expand their menu. I'm giving it 4 stars because I love how they promote the community and local artist inside the cafe, they are also attached to local community artist gallery. read more

Passing through Columbia, MS and am pleasantly surprised by Second Street Bean. Large, clean and comfortable, with books to read, fast wi-fi, and really fantastic sandwiches (tried the hot roast beef with peach jam and creole-mayo). I have been going here since they opened and they have done nothing but get better every year. They started off as a small coffee shop but have established them self as a must go lunch spot in a town that is not lacking good food. Their daily specials are fantastic every time. The shop is a pleasant surprise in Columbia! The food and coffee are great. They have seasonal bakery options such as cake and brownies. We asked for a salad close to closing time. They made us one using chicken salad that was phenomenal. The prices are typical of a standard coffee shop. We were there a few hours using the WiFi. Second Street Bean has a warm and inviting atmosphere with used books and local art giving you lots of reason to explore and look around. There are comfy chairs & sofas for lounging so you can peaceful enjoy a cappuccino (ask for them to do a design in your cup) and a book. If you're there for food, the hot roast beef with peach jelly and a creole mayo is a personal fave, but the chicken salad on croissant is hard to beat! Either way, this is a great place with great staff in a great location (next to an art gallery and furniture boutique). read more
