Food was terrible. We were so disappointed. Chicken fried was cold, mash potatoes cold, pretzel with cheese looked like cheese has been sitting too long. New server was not trained. A bit of bacon, lettuce, onion and cheese rounded out this burger perfectly. I will be thinking about this burger for a while, and probably should never go back bc it won't live up to this expectation again. The onion rings were on point too--Hand battered. A minor quibble would be they could have been sliced a bit thinner. I didn't love the high top tables and chairs that seemed a bit wobbly. Bathroom was clean (a lighted light switch would be a great improvement since that bathroom is dark.) Service was good and fast.

The real highlights were the catfish, which was cooked perfectly, and the pizza, which was absolutely exceptional and easily the best thing we ordered. Our server was clearly handling a lot of tables, but she remained friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Between the delicious food, tasty drinks, and fantastic patio overlooking the lake, we had a great experience. The place is just an old diner in the town of Strawn. We showed up at 1130. They had nice crowd no wait. Sit down and order. We got a small and a medium chicken fried steak. For the sides fries and mash potatoes with a small salad each. The small steak is prefect size for me. But if you are hungry go for medium or the large. The chicken fried steak is made a little different than most. Not the usual type of breading. We really enjoyed the meal all was very good. The steak was tender and great flavor. Fries cook perfect and great for dipping into my gravy. Mary came around and took the order and she also went to each table and made sure you like the food. Very good service from all the staff. Unfortunately, our food was somewhere between cold and lukewarm. Additionally, my baked potato had been under a warmer so long that the potato was turning brown. The CFS was tasty and large. It just was not great. I prefer the CFS from Antlers in Spring Branch. The ambiance is as small town diner. They did that perfectly. They had a lot of pictures from high school sports.
