The drinks were a little sweet for our liking, but they tasted of good quality and most of the mixers were house made for what we ordered. The food was mid but good for the area. The smoked ribs were quite tender but lacked any bark. The smoke was there but a side thought at best. These were cooked and had smoke around, but not cooked by the smoke. Better than Dickey's. The sides were fine. My wife ordered the grilled chicken and enjoyed it. Pretty solid. We might be back if we are in the area but wouldn't travel for it by any means. Our first time at this location, and it did not disappoint. We had two servers and they were both great, and communicated when they would be coming around since our area was fairly full. It is a very busy place. The food was so good. We both had steaks, a salad, and poblano cheese grits. Each item was great. The steaks were full of flavor and the grits were great with the steak. If you are unsure like I was get the grits. Being gluten free means no bread or croutons but we didn't miss a thing. I've eaten here many times and I have never had an issue or gotten sick. It is a little hard because they don't have a dessert that could be gluten free. It's an old time country place. While on business in Mineral Wells this place was recommended for use to try out. We started with the Queso w/Brisket and that was a solid choice. Although the queso could have been a little hotter. Our party of four each chose something different. I opted for the Chopped Brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad. It was okay but nothing I thought was fantastic. Those others chose the sliced Brisket, Burger, & the last chose Ribs. The only one who disliked was the Rib order. I believe it was the BBQ sauce that turned him off. The service was really good with frequent checks to refill iced tea and check on the food, as well as petition for extra items to be ordered, particularly dessert. The barbecue sauce was just kind of " meh"but the beef was tender and well cooked. Being located next to the highway and apparently very popular, it was nice to see if some spacing between the tables so that it didn't appear supercrowded in terms of the ambience. I order my steak medium well I told the server absolutely no blood a little pink is fine but no blood . My husband ordered his rare it was rare so rare it was still cold not to mention it was like chewing bubble gum.So hard to chew my husband was getting choked trying to eat it . My sons ordered chicken fried chicken and the other ordered the chicken fried chicken sandwich. Both were very pleased with their food. Our waitress Skye was attentive and helpful and super sweet.
