Busy place. It is a small town cafe. Nothing special about the decor. Chairs are okay and the tables were clean. The building looks a little small and the parking lot is very big, but inside is bigger than it looks. My buddies and I took a motorcycle ride to Mineral Wells on a nice Sunday morning. I was looking for a good breakfast spot and saw some great reviews. I was pleasantly surprised to only wait 10 minutes for a table of six at 10 am on a Sunday. This staff is so friendly too! This is a good ole fashioned diner that was willing to serve breakfast, lunch or even dinner if we wanted. The food was good! Loved the biscuits and the bacon was on the thicker side too! Had a nice breakfast with my sister and niece today. The food was tasty as always. I had the garden omelet with the breakfast potatoes and a side of grits. Unfortunately, the grits left a bit to be desired. My niece, no matter the meal, always gets the fried pickles and they didn't disappoint. The service was wonderful and entertaining as always. This place is nice and understated. A great place to go when you want to grab a bite and just have a nice visit. We'll be back. read more

The ambiance is an old and worn out diner from many years past. The owner and wit staff are super friendly and kind. The food is ok. Homemade feel but not prepared in the best way possible. Lots of grease and oils. They don't serve real butter . Prices are most reasonable and plates are full. So you really feel like you get a good portion for your money. A Texan American traditional cafe , hearty breakfasts and lunches. The parking lot was crowded when I arrived, I wasn't sure if I'd have a seat! I was seated immediately, ordered coffee and a #6 breakfast; two pancakes, bacon, and a scrambled egg. My order was perfect though the cakes were fluffier than I prefer, they were tasty indeed. Went on local recommendation, as we were in MW for the day. Service was great, food was average. Hubby's sausage patties were hockey pucks- almost burned. Eggs were ordered as over medium-well and were runny. Omelet was a large portion and cooked well. Hash browns and French toast were tasty. Delicious! I had a wonderful waffle topped with strawberry and fresh whip cream. This was not from a can. Exactly what I needed for breakfast. Jimmy's Cafe in Mineral Wells, TX is a real gem.  This is what they talk about when they refer to the "Heartland of America".  This is the kind of place that morning TV shows send reporters to in order to interview the average American.  This is real food for real people.  There are no "Very Berry Crepes" here, or anything with whipped cream or powdered sugar.  This is definitely the place to be for breakfast in Mineral Wells.  The place was packed with people waiting for a seat at 10 am on a Friday morning.  The atmosphere is friendly, clean and efficient. Actually a hole in the wall but must be a local favorite because the place was packed. Older restaurant (what you would expect from a small town diner. Don't let the looks discourage you! The service was great and the food in my opinion was better than some of your local chains. I ordered the Hamburger Steak breakfast and the patty was so tasty! The reviews were great. We came in with our family of 4 and the service was absolutely terrible. I have never been treated this way in any restaurant. Our waitress was apparently the owner's daughter or relative. She actually yelled at my husband for asking about our meal after several tables who came in after us were already eating. She was extremely abrasive and rude. Jimmy the owner wouldn't say anything against his daughter. We didn't even get to try the food. I couldn't eat after the awful service. Stopped in after checking out the (closed down) Baker Hotel and was very pleased with everything. I love that they serve coffee in random mismatched mugs, the waitresses call you "baby" & "sweetie", and our food was brought out in record time. I had the chicken & waffles it was very good. Maybe a teeny bit too much batter on the chicken but no biggie, still great. Husband had the number 6 combo and ate every single bite. I put this place on my list due to amount of excellent and very good reviews, but it's nothing to rave about. Could have ordered lunch but opted for breakfast. Ordered two over medium eggs with sausage patties, hash browns, biscuits and gravy. Everything but the biscuits & gravy was average at best. Coffee was terrible, very bitter. One egg was overcooked. Hash browns were skimpy in portion and dry. Was there for five minutes before anyone greeted me, and I was sitting at the counter! Overall, my visit was very disappointing read more

My family and I tried Jimmy's for the first time this morning, The pancakes tasted like biscuits , my grandsons bacon omelette looked good until he saw the black burnt beyond recognition crumbs of I guess you could call it bacon ? Everyone else's food was good . Everyone has an off day . However? When you ask for a refill on coffee and the waitress has two separate pots filling people's cups one fresh , one old , and she gives me the bottom burnt coffee, and uses the other pot for everyone else's ? Let's just say , I don't believe in coincidence ? Our waitress Michelle was excellent, the older lady filled my cup with coffee grounds, 2 out of 5 meals almost uneatable . The sweet tea was fresh and delicious. I gave Michelle 70.00 for a 53.00 tab let her keep the change . Doubtful that I will ever go back to Jimmy's Cafe' Unless they make it known they have a new much Better Cook . My review of restaurant's is tough. I managed them over 32 years so I tend to be critical. The parking lot is rough. Watch your step. However if you want fast service. Great value for your food $$$'s. Really good home style food and waitresses that just make you feel good while your there. Then this is the place for you. No one acknowledged us at the door - we stood there waiting. There was a long strand of hair floating in my boyfriends water. Chipped coffee mug- could've sliced my lip wide open and my boyfriend also had a chipped cup and the mug was still stained from the customer before... was it even thoroughly washed? This is a health concern. The Menu is confusing and clunky (needs spacing) The hash browns were not brown at all. Undercooked.... Mushy... wet (everyone at the table agreed) Pancakes were incredibly dry. The moisture has left the building. I didn't get eggs but my friend said friend says eggs shouldn't be crunchy. read more

Wow! As a local, I love to go with friends to eat breakfast and it never fails to be delicious and not overly pricey at all. I lived in Mineral Wells for about 15 years. I live about 2 1/2 hours away now & when I come to visit family I come here for breakfast every time. The CFS is absolutely amazing! They cook their bacon to perfection & the staff is always friendly. The pricing is very reasonable. They have a dish called the "kitchen sink" & it's great! It's an off the menu item though. It starts with 4 biscuits topped with your choice of bacon or sausage. They put hash browns smothered in gravy & on top. It's amazeballs. Lots of places serve a good breakfast, and Jimmys is one of those places. Start with super friendly service and a good variety on the menu. She tried to talk me into French toast but I had my heart(stomach) set on a Belgian waffle. Throw in the usual eggs and sausage, a delicious, perfect waffle, and the biscuits and gravy my wife didn't want, and I was a full and happy camper.
