UPDATE - We can never find Dairy Mart open. I don't know what happened to them, but they seem to always be closed any time we drive past. Does anyone know what's going on with them? It has honestly been two years or more since we have seen them open for business. We live a half-hour away, so we certainly never make the drive to Mineral Wells to eat here because it is such a gamble. read more

I know your town has its own version of this burger joint. It opened in the 1950's or 1960's. It hasn't been painted since then. Seriously, it hasn't been painted since then. The burgers are greasy, or juicy, your call. But it's the good kind of greasy that runs down your arms as your mouth is going "damn that's a good burger"! The fries are that perfect crispy and the onion rings are SO GOOD! I got the House Burger. I kind of smashed it before the picture. Oops! Sweet chili sauce, bacon, fried egg, onion ring, pepper jack cheese, and juicy, juicy meat for $6.89. That's a $14 burger at Red Robin! The picnic tables were...you guessed it...6 feet apart. LOL The tables had construction workers, us out of towners, A couple of suits, and workers from the store across the street. Everybody knows where the good burgers are! Returning home from Possum Kingdom, for perhaps the last time in a long time, I decided to try a chili dog with mustard and onions, small tots and a large DP. The young woman at the counter greeted me with how tired she was and how little sleep she had. I ordered a cheeseburger basket and tea. They were out of tea, I asked her if they were fixing to make some and she replied no we don't even have any teabags. The owner is supposed to go to Walmart and get some today. So I ordered a different drinks. No big deal. There were two vacant tables, so I sat down at one. It was dirty it had gravy all over it. I asked if I could have a rag and I would clean off the table and the young man in the back said he would do it but the counter girl came back out with a rag and a squirt bottle. She made an attempt to clean the table and proceeded to walk off. I asked her if she could squirt some of the cleaner on it and clean it because it still had globs of gravy on it. She argued with me that it was clean that it was stuff that just wouldn't come off, but I insisted that she squirt it and clean it again and lo and behold it all came up. I felt like that was a pretty simple request to have a clean table to eat at. My food arrived and the hamburger was really good. My fries were cold so I went to the front and asked if I could speak to either the manager or the owner, whomever was there. he stuck his head out and said he would be right with me, so I sat back down and ate my burger. The owners son never came back out of the kitchen. I like the food but the three times I have been there since moving back to Mineral Wells the service has been very poor to say the least. read more

I was traveling through town for work and so happy I found this place. Very authentic Drive In(n) with outstanding food and reasonable prices. You can sit inside, drive through or walk up to an outside window. A few outdoor seats as well. The burgers are absolutely delicious. This is not the typical 1/4 patty you find in most fast food places. They seemed to be hand-formed and were well seasoned and very generous portions (probably 1/3 pound). The fries were to die for. I don't know if they lightly batter them or just fry them perfectly, but I've never had fries this good from a fast-food place. If I'm ever near Mineral Wells again I'll be sure and stop inn. read more

Best Burgers in town!!! I don't go often but when I do the service is great and the food is even better. Never fails to have greta burgers, fries, ice cream, tea and much more. Retro type feel in a decent location and reasonably priced. Never too expensive and they always have smiling faces. Not too much indoor dining space but they have a drive-thru and picnic tables outside. Great place to eat anytime! read more

Freakin' awesome breakfast burrito! The hash browns were great too. I love the shredded potato hash brows that are pan-fried. The best!! The breakfast burrito I ordered was stuffed full of egg and strips of bacon! We went through the drive through, but felt like a home cooked awesome breakfast was served to us in styrofoam containers. The coffee was okay. It tasted like instant coffee, but it did the job, so no complaints really. Excellent breakfast, fast service, and CHEAP. read more

Well.... Dairy Mart is a total copycat, wannabe, of my beloved Dairy Queen. Even the sign is almost the same. I believe whoever opened Dairy Mart did it because they just couldn't afford a franchise - but whatever the case may be for as long as I can remember Dairy Mart has been serving excellent food, and ice cream. I dont know if they still have the shaved ice snow cone truck out front, but when I was a kid they did and those snow cones were what made summer - summer. This is a neat little - locally owned, hometown place where you can drive thru, walk up, or dine in, eat out on one of the picnic table, and come away with a full belly. I even love the over the top obsessive Coca Cola decor. read more

Met an old friend here today for lunch. We had Cheeseburgers and onion rings. The food was good. The burgers were cooked well and were of a substantial size. Buns were fresh as were the veggies they put on the burgers. Onion rings were a little greasy, but flavor was top notch. This is one of those places that if you are not paying attention for you will drive right by it as I did twice. When I realized it was on the corner not too bad. the parking lot was not completely full as we got there about 1pm but still lots of folks in the dining room.
