If you're looking for one of the best patios on Possum Kingdom Lake, Hemingway's Possum Kingdom is the place. The lake views are beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxing, and it's a great spot to enjoy a meal and a drink. We sampled several items from the menu. The burger was good, but not $18 good. The chicken wrap was solid but didn't particularly stand out. The real highlights were the catfish, which was cooked perfectly, and the pizza, which was absolutely exceptional and easily the best thing we ordered. Our server was clearly handling a lot of tables, but she remained friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Between the delicious food, tasty drinks, and fantastic patio overlooking the lake, we had a great experience. We'll definitely be back, and next time we're planning to try some of the more upscale dinner options on the menu. read more

Overall food was good. Atmosphere was amazing Drinks were subpar. They do not serve the ball ice with their old fashions. I also ordered a paloma, but not sure what I ended up with. Was more the color of margarita, could not taste grapefruit at all. Didn't drink it all... read more

Bre was an amazing waitress. She was attentive, kind, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. She was especially wonderful with our baby, Truett, which made our night so much easier and more enjoyable. You can tell she truly cares about her guests. I love this place year around. Love when it is cold and sit by the fire. Love to pull up in my boat with the family and get great service and food. Loved being recognized even though it is a been a while. read more

Great little restaurant on the lake. They were packed, so service was a little slow, but not terrible. Food was 4/5. Only real complaint i have is the backs of the booths were straight up and down - not the most comfortable. A lot of the tables were also those high bar tables, the ones where your feet don't reach the ground. I hate sitting at those. Luckily we got a regular height table. As we were ordering, I asked the waitress whether she recommended the catfish or the chicken fried steak. She said, "the catfish is good, but i'd recommend the fried chicken breast over the CFS." I got the catfish - if the CFS can't beat a piece of white meat chicken... Anyway, it was worth the drive. Will be back. read more

It's always so good. Probably the most popular place on the lake. Great service, great drinks, great views and great place to hang. We love Hemingways! read more

We had a reservation and were seated quickly. The service, however, was quite bad. Our food took 45 minutes to come, and it was very underwhelming. Of all 4 dishes ordered, all had jarred sauce of some kind over pre frozen shrimp or fish. Pizza was the best thing we had by far. Wouldn't recommend. read more

My husband surprised me with a getaway for my birthday this weekend to PK. We decided to eat at Hemmingways for brunch as the reviews were good. Food was okay, not impressed with the small portions. Our bill for brunch was $49 For two plates and a drink. My husband tipped $20 for a total of $69 and to my surprise my credit card was charged for a total of $118. We don't appreciate getting taken advantage of by anyone. We are hard-working individuals and tipped generously. Of course they are closed today. The manager will be hearing from us as soon as they open. Yes, my bank has already received the dispute and as soon as I get the receipt showing our total not matching the fraudulent extra charge of $50, we will move forward. Even if the food is good, I will not condone this type of behavior from anyone. We do not appreciate being stolen from. The worst part is that we decided to go back that evening to celebrate my birthday with a nice dinner and again we paid over $200. I was going back through my charges as soon as we came home and thank God I did, our evening charge was fine at $230 but being overcharged by $50 the first time we were there earlier that day is disrespectful and disappointing. If we would've known that, we would've never gone back and given repeat business for dinner just as we will never go back there again. Do better Hemmingways. read more

I had the sweet chili Shrimp as an appetizer, followed by the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl, capped off with the Coconut Meringue Pie. Excellent. Try the Pomegranate Cosmo or two to top off the night. read more

Service was ok, he looked to be about 16 and lost. No silverware, only brought drink menus. Bartender was vaping behind bar while order tickets awaited. Ordered mozzarella stick and cocktails. Cocktails were decent. Cheese sticks were cold and fishy and we didn't eat them. Told waiter, he said my bad and walked off. Charged full amount on ticket.. Won't return read more

Overpriced for the quality of food you get. Ambiance was great but service was average at best.

We live in Mineral Wells and there isn't a place that has a good steak. So my husband and I will driver the 45 mins to the lake to Hemmingways for their ribeye! We just moved to this area, and what a gem this place is! The food is incredible as is the service and the views. We went here for lunch on Friday and I had the chicken fried chicken and my wife had the smash burger. Both entrees were magnificent! It was so good we came back that night for dinner and everything was amazing again. The Cajun pasta was out of this world and my top shelf margaritas were as well. They also have a fantastic wine list of quality wines. Great service as well. Incredible place on the lake! Our new watering hole. read more

The steaks were perfectly medium rare! Service left a little to be desired. I'm guessing this restaurant does not serve bread with their meals. I like bread or at least crackers with my salad. We came on a Monday not knowing the patio was closed (we're from Lubbock, TX) since we had my dog with me and my boyfriend but they seated us inside since it was 104° outside and they didn't want my dog to get hot. I am back to give a glowing review of one of the best spots on Possum Kingdom Lake. When I say it is the best spot on Possum Kingdom Lake I am not holding back. The view of the harbor is fantastic, the indoor ambiance and amazing patio are just a few of the many things that make Hemmingway's top notch. With new management of Wendy & Kirk not a single thing is overlooked. They are both the hardest workers, and friendliest faces along with our fantastic server Mikayla. The service is impeccable, the food - gosh where do I start!! Portions are enough for 2 on most all dishes, taste is superb, and presentation is the best. We had the dip trio - couldn't finish it, and we were a party of 4, the chicken fried steak - 10 out of 10, and drinks to die for. I could go on and on but I will leave you with this - we visited twice in one weekend it was that great! Don't miss out on this jewel at PK! read more

Edit: FYI, to the manager or owner or whoever said this didn't happen in May, 2024. This most certainly did happen in May, 2024. It was the night that it appeared that there was a bachelorette party or some sort of celebration with a large group oh young women. We have a credit card receipt to prove it. I also have only given one "one star" review regarding Hemmingway's and it was in May. We really like the food at Hemmingway's. That's why we came back. Your denying that this happened to us last month and the way you have treated us in the past is inappropriate and not professional. We arrived around 7:45-8:00. We were told it would a 30 minute wait for a table. Not a problem. We sat at their bar and had a drink. We got to our table and waited for a while for the waitress to show up. When she finally showed up, we asked for a menu. She said no menus. Use the QR code. My husband ordered a beer and when she finally brought the beer, we ordered our food, shrimp and the baked chicken. She informed me that they had run out of chicken, so I ordered the bake ziti. Nothing too difficult to prepare. She brought my husband's salad. We waited and waited. We asked twice when our food would be ready. She said she would check. She came back after a long wait and apologized and said they were backed up because of so many big parties of people. She said it would be a little while longer. She came back a little while later and said there were two orders ahead of us and showed us a screen shot of the board. She said it would be at least 20 more minutes and she said it with hesitation. Time was then 9:50. We told her that was ridiculous. We asked if we could just order a baked potato. She said she could serve us chips, salsa and guacamole, no baked potato! We said no thanks, just bring us the check for the beer. Also, during all of the time we waited, she never offered to refill my water or ask if my husband would like another drink. I understand that it's a Saturday night. But, to wait almost two hours to eat for a party of two is unacceptable. read more

Great food, service and atmosphere! If you love food on the lake this is the place to visit!

A wonderful atmosphere with absolutely delicious food. Sitting outside provides wonderful views of the lake where you can enjoy live music at night. You couldn't ask for a better location to dine outside and watch the sunset on the lake. Not only is the atmosphere amazing, but the food is delicious. We ate there twice while staying on the lake for a long weekend vacation. The first time we had their pizza and second time the chicken fried steak. We brought home the leftovers and ate them on our 6 hour drive back home......that's how yummy the food was! OMG, I wish they had 10 stars to rate this Resturant.
