We were in for lunch and the best seats at the window were bathed in sunshine which was amazing. I'd visited these premises before when it was Velvet Elvis/Criterion and like how they've knocked through the wall to make it a larger space. The decor is great - modern, exposed brick, classy but still with a bit of personality. And they kept the "Keep Partick Weird" wall which is excellent. I got three small dishes for lunch: asparagus with hollandaise (£5.50), three cheese croquettes (£5.50), pan-fried king scallops (£8). The place was really quiet and the food arrived quickly. The asparagus had a lot of hollandaise on it but was lovely, and the scallops were absolute heaven. I didn't love the croquettes though as I thought they were a little bland (especially as they have three kinds of cheese in them). I wasn't drinking but really need to come back for the beers as their list is very long and delicious sounding. This is super cool bar and can't wait to come back for another visit.

Which wasn't too bad. The food was AMAZING! Get the Beer Soup, which is served in a bread bowl, it's honestly brilliant. Butternut squash risotto was heavenly and cheese croquettes were tasty too, small portion of croquettes though, but quite Largs portions of everything else! Risotto is small plate sized and this is about what you can pay twice the price for in other restaurants as a main! Great atmosphere and would definitely visit again, the desserts look very yummy!

The Lismore is a damn fine place…read more I could end the review there, and it would be accurate. It wouldn't be very long, or interesting, but you get the point. It's one of the more unique looking pubs in the West End, if not the whole of Glasgow, with it's wood and stained glass windows. It's an effect that really does make you stop and draw breath the first time you step through the doors into the well appointed bar area. The range of whisky and whiskey available is almost on a par with the mighty Pot Still, and the ales on tap are cold, crisp and obviously well maintained. I will argue forth with anyone that the best pint of Deuchars in Glasgow can be found on these fine premises. The punters always seem to be up for a wee natter at the bar, and the staff are pleasant and helpful at all times. It's a wee gem on the Dumbarton Road, just roon the corner from the Kelvin Hall subway station and worth a visit

This is my favourite pub in my hood. The bartenders are great and always remember me...LOL not…read moresure that is a good or a bad thing ;) This is a traditional Scottish pub with lots of wood, rows of liquor, stained glass windows, and well, just look at the name. Lois Mor always has a good mix of patrons, and a friendly bunch at that I have spied more than a few handsome gentleman in here sipping whiskey. Speaking of whiskey, they have quite the collection! You can go reasonable, expensive, exotic ...whatever, they have options, HUNDREDS of options! This venue also has music once in a while, and usually quite talented bands as well. But be aware, it can get packed when there is live music. The bar is quite narrow, so expect tight quarters when it is busy. Generally though, there is plenty of seating and quiet nooks too converse with company. Or you can prop up at the bar, if you are feeling more sociable. There is a reason the Lios Mor has been published more than a few times on various 'Best pubs in Glasgow' lists!

Mouths won't go hungry as local businesses set up stalls and seats outside. Burgers, pizza, chips, cakes and pastries: there's lots to fill you up whilst you're entertained by the parade. Outside Hillhead Bookclub is the over 18s area which is a good escape from the pushy prams. You just need to make sure you get a good spot or you might not get to see a lot!

Did anyone make their way to Glasgow Mela last weekend? Cause I thought it was FAB! Lucky enough…read morethat the weather was on our side last weekend too. The festival had so many things and I'm glad that it was free too seeing as it was in Kelvingrove Park! The atmosphere of family, children and friends of different cultures (many Indian folk, locals and a bunch of other random nationalities including myself :D) came by to chill out at the park. Whether it was to play with outdoor installations or at the fun fair, or listen to music with a pint under the sun, or watch silly performances by street artists (and magicians) or even dance along with the amazing traditional performers (and also Irish line dancers) the day was just great! My partner and I explored everything! We were down at the smaller stage listening to Indian music with toddlers dancing everywhere. And then we watched as a parade of what seemed to be circus performers walked by. We slept on the grass while having Pimm's cocktails and listening to some dj sets. And then watched the amazing performers by so many tradition local clubs! If you haven't been before, you should really consider going in the next years to come :) Update: also, went to Chop Pop's exhibition of her Love Letters to Glasgow in the Hillhead Library and it was wonderful! Her artwork is amazing and meticulous! She's also a friendly wee lady and I love her. Check out her facebook if you didn't manage to catch her!

This place is not for the shy and retiring. Especially popular with groups (note: do not go here…read morefor an intimate date) the idea is that you party and sing while you eat. I'm still not quite sure the two go together but it kind of seems to work and is bustling every night with work nights out or hen parties. As soon as you arrive to what seems like a normal restaurant, out comes the host dressed in a kilt to tell those awaiting that the only rule is that you must have fun, dance on your chairs and sing whenever you feel the urge - and this is exactly what people do. It is slightly surreal when one minute your are tucking into your sweet and sour chicken and the next you are up dancing on your seat (if you don't then you look like a big party pooper). There are lots of little surprises and games which I don't want to spoil for those who have yet to experience this unique little place. It's not for the faint-hearted! As for the food, well, I can't even really remember what I had. The crazy antics, singing and dancing almost made me question if I actually had eaten. Given that it is £28 per head for a three course meal on a Saturday it seems a bit of waste although nobody goes there for a relaxed meal and I guess you are paying for the entertainment value. On a Sunday through to Wednesday however, I believe the same meal is £12 so try and avoid weekends. It's crazily busy before Christmas, even during the week, so be sure to book well in advance. It's definitely an experience.

Oh my goodness, this place is hilarious! It definitely is a bit lairy so if you're not one for karaoke or dancing on tables then give this one a miss but if you're brave enough it's an experience you will never forget! There seems to be a programme here, so I'll let you know how my evening played out; Step 1: We were shown to our table and as it was Christmas time it was decorated with the usual; tinsel, mini tree, bobbles and the like. We were then asked what drinks we liked and we each ordered the usual vodka coke, etc. Step 2: When the drinks arrived the waiters brought with them a cocktail in a glass that was probably around three foot tall, I kid you not. It was nearly taller than me and I had to stand on the chair to drink out of it with the equally massive straw. Step 3: Whilst taking the order for our meal, they brought a huge box of cowboy hats and gave us all one. I wasn't drunk enough by this point so did feel a little odd but everyone was getting into the swing of things so it was all good. Meanwhile two karaoke hosts were belting out Whitney Houston numbers and reminding us to get our requests in. Step 4: Each table was getting called up to sing so we had to get up and give it our all on the dance floor. Step 5: Dinner arrived, but with it they brought party poppers and told us to get on the chairs and dance. I was really hungry by this point and kind of just wanted to eat my meal. Step 6: In between popping party poppers, pulling crackers and moving the seat so other people at the table could get up to do a bit of karaoke I was able to eat my meal, I went for sweet and sour chicken and it was surprisingly good. I just assumed that all the drama was just to put your mind off how bad the food was. But no, no it was delicious! Step 7: As desserts were being brought out one of the waiters was grabbing random people from each table and he took them upstairs. Five minutes later they all re-appeared in fancy dress; Batman, Batwoman, Spiderman... they were all there jumping around on the dance floor singing karaoke some looking more bemused than others. Step 8: Each person in the place (it holds around 100) was then given a can of silly string each and the spraying began! There was silly string everywhere, in my hair, in my half eaten ice-cream (oh well), on the walls, in the huge cocktail glass, just everywhere! Step 9: This is the bit I found strangest of all... All the ladies were told to stand on their chairs and then a couple of waiters came out with a leaf blower and started blowing up everyone's skirts, Thankfully I had tights on but other people didn't, oh dear. I couldn't actually believe this was happening, it was hilarious in an odd peeping tom kind of way. Step 10: All the while people are blaring out karaoke in the background and I was starting to feel more than a little bit tired. Step 11: The last thing we were given was a fortune cookie which was a nice way to end the evening but I felt like I could sleep for a week afterwards! Step 12: The evening was over and I was left puzzled as to what had just happened. To enjoy this place you really need to get into the spirit of it, it is absolutely wild and unlike anything I've ever experienced. For me this place is a kind of been there done that, when you've done it once it's probably enough (well, once is enough for me anyway). I just wonder how long it takes them to clear up afterwards it must take an age! I don't know how the staff do this night after night, they must just thinks "Here we go again..."
