Oh come on guys!!!!…read more Amazing coffee for 99p, free wifi, chilled out music, roaring fire and trendy chic looking patrons (why do i like girls in thick rimmed glasses?). Many bars just don't know how to 'do' the day time crowd when not in a 'it's 12pm... beer o'clock! kinda area. The Belle though, knows what it's doing. This place has the perfect vibe for a coffee house and pretty much pulls it off without even really trying. In fact, if you hid the bar in this joint it would pretty much look, feel and smell (smell? really? shut up inner voice...) like a coffee joint. I love this place..it's my bestest friend and it's pure good.

It's a cosy pub on Great Western Road with an awesome fireplace - it's worth a visit for that alone. I popped in on a Monday afternoon as I needed to get some work done and Papercup was just too busy. Thankfully, The Belle was nice and quiet, and I was able have my pot of tea and work away. They apparently have free wifi which I didn't try on this occasion (I mostly just tether from my own phone), the staff are friendly and the music was perfectly fine. I'd rate this is a pretty decent working spot so I'm sure I'll be back soon!

Or maye just because I don't drink in Partick all that often. However, when I heard that Hackney All Stars were doing a burger pop up here with free burgers through January I thought it might be time to give it a shot (call me fickle, if you must). I was pleasently surprised. The interior is very comfy in the traditional pub sense and food is served towards the back. There's a good, well-stocked bar and friendly staff available. We visited on a Monday evening and it was a bit quiet but that's really not shocking for a Monday in January. I wouldn't be surprised to see it much mroe full at the weekend. The burgers were pretty good (my partner was particularly impressed with the chips) so I'd keep an eye out for other Hackney All Stars pop ups. I'm not sure how long they're staying at Storm Queen but clearly there's a kitchen there, so I expect they probably serve food most days anyway.

Friendly, local howf, where everybody talks to each other and dance the day away. Great measures of spirits, as 35ml. Next time, we will have a meal. Good location to stop on your way back from Kelvingrove's Art Gallery and Museum. We walked from the museum to the pub without any problems. It's nice on the inside. There are some tables and the bar is at the center with a nice display of alcohol both on tap and on the walls. Beer: there was large selection of beer and liquor to choose from. I was looking for a good stout and the bartender, Andrew gave me some really good recommendations. I settled on the Overtone Milk that he recommended and it did not disappoint. It was smooth, full bodied, and flavorful. Nice chocolate flavor with a hint of smokiness to it. My husband got the Drygate IPA and it was crisp and hoppy. Service: I always look for good conversation, attentiveness, kindness, and whether or not the server and or bartender was knowledgeable about what they're serving. Our bartender Andrew was all of the above. He was so welcoming, and my husband and I enjoyed the great conversation With him. He knew a lot about the selection of beers and whiskey, where it came from, and who it came from, so that was wonderful! Thank you Andrew for a great experience. We hope we can stop by again while we're still in Glasgow.

As rough as a badgers arse and just as welcoming.......is what i would have said about this place…read morebefore my inaugural visit on Saturday. OK so the Victoria is so much of a 'old man' pub that it quite frankly re defines the 'old man' pub category and blows the other contenders to crown out the water. -Cheap drink......check -Old men...check -Smaller lounge (for the old man clique).....check -Sticky carpets, tables, barmaids....check -Barmaid with scandalously low cut top...check...ing her out. So aye.....not the classiest joint in the world, but ideal for a drinkathon with the male chaps, that won't end up breaking the bank!

As it turns out, Lori, herself, isn't overwhelmingly loopy, certainly notcompared to much of the clientele. Victoria's is a Partick bar alright, in good and bad senses. Traditional if a tad rough, I can't say it's a place I will be back to but equally, it has a certain good time vibe when Lori does her stuff and I suppose you could do worse in this area. With a tendency to attract a raucous crowd at weekends, Victoria's is a different place through the week, pigeonholed very much in the old man section, in terms of atmosphere and, sometimes, smell.

There's certainly no shortage of bars in Finnieston and whatever your scene you're sure to find it…read morewithout looking too far. This is one that I seem to walk past regularly without ever thinking to go in. As it turns out, that attitude isn't justified. We stopped by on Thursday when we were searching for a pub quiz. The pub quiz here is free, fun and light hearted, with lots of banter between the quiz master and the regulars. We did terribly but also had a pretty excellent time. Interior wise, it's a fairly traditional Scottish pub. No gimmicks here but it's nice and cosy, plenty of seats without feeling crowded and two rooms on either side of a decent-sized bar. You could just as easily imagine people dropping in in the late afternoon for a quiet pint while they read the paper, as opposed to the busy chatty social scene that we saw on Thursday night. It's a Belhaven Bar and they don't have a huge amount beyond Belhaven beers on tap (I noticed Staropramen but not much more). However, the prices are really good for Finnieston and you can get a bottle of wine for £8.99. This place isn't going to win any awards for innovation or for being super stylish but it's a good, standard unpretencious pub. No one's going to expect you to dress up. No one's going to be instgramming their pint and no one's going to bother you if you just want to sit and chill with your pint on a drizzly Glaswegian afternoon.

It's fine for what it is - and what it is? It's a nice little escape from the, shall we say,…read moresomewhat pretentious bars and pubs that inhabit this end of the town. Within walking distance of Kelvingrove Galleries, it's a wee bar that seems very "local" - every time I've been in, I've seen a few of the same faces, sat in the same places... but it doesn't have that "uh oh" feel when you go in. More often than not, I've been in on a night when there's been rugby or football on the television to shout at/watch in horror/enjoy (very rarely the last one when Scotland's involved) and the folk have all been nice and bantery - if that's not a word, it should be. It's a fair mix behind the bar, all the usua; drinks you would expect from a Glasgow pub, and the prices are just about normal. All in all, it's a fine wee place to drop in. Very much a "couple of drinks, and head off" kind of place unless you're in with a group of folk though... and that's not a bad thing.

OK, compared to nearest rival the Liquid Ship, where the closest thing to a square go is a "I had a toasted goats cheese and pinenut crostini not the chicken bolero" querying of the bill, it's rough. But in the grand scheme of things, it's an entirely acceptable venue for a quiet pint. What is perhaps a more accurate description is that, while the Western, Cleopatras, the aforementioned Liquid Ship and the Captain's Rest have all overwhelmingly succumbed to the gentrification of the West End, Wintersgills remains a traditional pub which has changed little over the years. The drink is reasonably priced, the food is plain fare and the football is on TV. Some of the regulars may be a little gruff but they'll certainly not threaten you. Or talk to you either, mind you. What a lot of people fail to realise is that the owners also go to great lengths to put on entertainment for their punters. This can range from psychic nights to live music, and of course the obligatory karaoke night which has eased the pain of those who were left karaoke-less following the demise of the Western Bar's legendary night. My last encounter with Wintersgills came on Hogmanay, when, in the lead up to the bells, a traditional piper appeared playing Auld Lang Syne... ...sporting an Adidas tracksuit. And this is perhaps an apt summing up of the pub as a whole; just because it's a little rough around the edges, doesn't mean it's not doing exactly what's expected of it.

My boyfriend and I were wandering around the city and he remembered that an old colleague (and…read morefootball pal) of his would be having drinks here so we decided to stop in. This place is literally a step out of time. I'm not sure much has changed in this wee pub besides the addition of a ladies toilet (or so I was told by one of the guys we were visiting). because all the fixtures were antique looking. I wasn't the only female in the place, but I was one of the few, indeed. I quite enjoyed the look and feel of the place as I do enjoy what I like to call 'old mans pubs'. I like feeling like I'm a girl who can hang with the guys and no one bats an eye. Aside from my big girly coat and my backpack that day, I think I did a fairly nice job. There was a major Rugby match on TV this evening, so the place was jumpin' with the locals looking to watch the match and enjoy a bevvy or two. It seems as though this place might serve food, as they do have a dining room of sorts just beyond the glitz of the bar area with it's slot machines and big TVs. We only stayed for one drink as we had plans on the rest of the night, but what I did experience of this place, makes me want to go back in the future to experience again. It's really not a bad place.
