I expected the usual offerings of greasy grub, sinful and satisfying, that would make me stuffed and sleepy, with a side of sickly. I was very much mistaken and incredibly impressed, as what we received was restaurant quality and absolutely delicious. We both went for the Thai red curry (mine with veg and his with chicken), with sides of rice and noodles for sharing. We also threw in a bottle of fizzy juice (an absolute must with a takeaway), which brought our order to £20.50 (including delivery) and entitled us to free prawn crackers and a little extra, chosen by the chef. I was chuffed with the chef's choice as he added in a portion of crispy seaweed, which I've never tried before but was so tasty and reminded me of kale chips. The Thai red curry was wonderful, with coconut milk and just enough of a kick, and we were both stuffed and satisfied, without the feeling of gluttonous guilt you would ordinarily associate with a takeaway. The staff are always friendly, the food is fresh and the menu is pretty much what you'd expect, but with a wide choice of take away options in the area, there's a reason that this place has lasted over the years and that's because what it lacks in glamour it makes up in other ways. I have noticed on our visit that they have started doing a few meal packages recently, which appear to be aimed at the local market and in line with other local take always, not to my tastes, but I don't like to judge. They deal with big parties profesionally with no reduction on meal quality. and no reduction in service if your not part of the big crowd. people say, its a bit cheesy 80's looking inside, "(so locals say, don't stop them going there though) but i like it, and eat there as often as i can. Even the waiting area for takeaway. is a pleasure to sit in. Its been the top place in rutherglen for chinese food for many years, i hope it holds its crown for many more.
