The Lemon Tree looks great from the outside - I think it's just been done up. It's a pretty run-of-the mill Chinese though. The food is above average, the prices are below average. The restaurant area seems to be quite big, but we've only ever got takeout. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen anyone sittingin, but then we only go later on at night or in the early evening when there wouldn't be many sit-in diners anyway. It's good but not the best.

Food arrived cold, beef was old. Waste of money and food. The customer service to resolve this problem was appalling. Disgusted.

My go-to order is pancake rolls, chicken and sweetcorn soup, and garlic and honey chicken.

Anybody who knows me knows my favourite type of food is Asian cuisine. I bloody love it, so as soon…read moreas I heard this place had taken over the dumpling inn spot I was very keen to get in and try it ASAP. Trudie M and I dropped in for a spot of lunch today and we were not disappointed. The menu is simple, about 20 rice dish options, a couple of congee ones and a couple of noodle ones. This is a cafe style place, nothing to fancy, but the food had tonnes of taste and the staff were extremely friendly. All the dishes are 7.50 a go, you get a huge bowl of rice and your chosen topping. I had salt & pepper pork loin and it was tremendous. The pricing is also great. We got loads of food and two tsing Tao for just 22 quid. We were really full and left very happy. The food tasted really fresh and actually sort of healthy to. Another great addition to the ever growing Chinese restaurant scene in Glasgow. It has lots of stiff completion already, but for me it is 5 stars of course... But you probably could of guessed that.

I really liked Dumpling Inn so was sad to see it go but I believe the people behind Hong Kong Bite…read moreare the same folks. The restaurant is casual - a good place to pop in for a quick meal, it's nothing fancy though. There was a group of us so they seated us at a round table in the middle which had stools which wasn't totally ideal but as I said, we were just in for a quick meal. The menu is simple - mostly rice dishes with a couple of noodle/congee dishes. I ordered aubergine and pork with rice for £7.50 and was really impressed - a big portion and really filled me up after a day of drinking. Staff were friendly, the vibe was relaxed and the price was very reasonable. Even including a couple of beers I think it was about £12 each. I'll definitely be back.

The service is excellent. The place has recently had an refurbishment though don't expect a Waldorf tea room ambiance.

When Ka Ka Lok appeared next to long standing Chinese / Malaysian restaurant Asia Style with its bright red signage and funky Chinese style cartoon logo I thought to myself, "ooft that's brave opening up next to a Glasgow institution". But, to my delight, this place more than stood up for itself. Although the restaurant is rather big and sparse looking, it was busy and loud enough, with a regular turnover of local Chinese customers to give the place a good vibe. We were warmly greeted on arrival and taken to our table. The waitress promptly gave us two menus to look over, one an 'English' menu and the other a 'Chinese' one. The English menu contained your typical Black Bean / Sichuan / Sweet & Sour type dishes, probably curated for the westerners. Not Fish & Chips and Chicken Pies as I had originally imagined being on an 'English' menu. The Chinese menu was a Hong Kong style fare, with more traditional dishes such as Clay Pot stews, seafood/fish dishes, roasts etc. Needless to say we all ordered from the Chinese menu and the staff were ever so friendly in helping us to make our decisions. In fact the owner was key to helping us have a great meal as he picked out some great dished for us. We opted for a dozen dumplings to nibble on as an appetiser, which were delicious. Then a feast of Clay Pot dishes arrived, including aubergine and salt fish, XO Seafood, an outstanding and tender beef stew, three kind roast containing pork belly / char sui / duck, Singapore style noodles and a giant vat of rice. It has to be said the quality of the food and ingredients was second to none and the portions were hugely generous. Again the owner and his staff made us feel incredibly welcome and they kept checking up on us to make sure we were happy with the food. Although they don't have a drinks license, we were treated to endless supplies of refreshing jasmine tea. Furthermore they have a great tasting Aloe juice, which I think I may now be addicted too. To summarise Ka Ka Lok, weird name, amazing food and cheap as chips!
