    Dim sum spread

Love it! It's funny because we came at 3 pm and no one was there, but we were kindly greeted and set up with menus. They have all day dim sum available - heck yes! We mostly ordered prawn dumplings, but they also have ones with pork. Tried egg buns and oh my goodness - so so good. They also have shaolong bao!! Amazing, but they were called something else. Anyway they are dumplings that have soup inside, I always recommend them. Fried rice was simple, yet amazingly good. I lived in Taiwan for 2 years and even though they serve Cantonese style here, this place felt like home. They have tvs with Chinese news and some pretty extravagant decorations. If you like Traditional Chinese food, come here.

After a heavy night of drinking, there is nothing better than going into this place, ordering a 'medium box', and telling the person behind the counter to "fill her up!" This basically consists of a polystrene box being filled to the brim with ribs, prawn toast, noodles, chips, curry sauce, sweet and sour chicken, and anything else that looks mildly tasty to drunken eyes. Disgusting? Yes. But tasty? Yes.

    Duck and Char Siu rice.

Perhaps I am slightly biased...but this is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Glasgow. I know that my parents ate here before I was born and it's the usual restaurant that my family gatherings of the foodie variety are held in. I went recently and the quality of the food had improved. I am wondering if they have a new chef. The food was noticeably tastier and less greasy. We ordered the 2 roast and rice (crispy roast duck & char siu). The duck was crisp with that tasty fatty bit along with the meat. The duck is on the bone and is not always cut right. The char siu was glazed and sweet tasting. The rice even tasted amazing and I kept filling up my bowl. The pak choi with the dish was crisp, not soft like most I've tried. We added 3 dim sum dishes, the prawn dumpling har gaw, the char siu buns and wor teep (more mystery dumpling meat!). All of these were tasting good and I liked that the filling remained in the dumpling casing. We drank pots of tea that they will gladly refill as much as you like. It's cheap as chips and tastes good. Drink it for good health, as my mum would say. Finally we received chilled cuts of an orange for free. Chinese love to end a meal with fruit! Throughout dinner we listened to traditional Chinese music. It changed to club music and Nicki Minaj after we'd finished! Very strange. It was almost 11pm when this happened!!

The taste is familiar with the morning tea I had in Chinese , the price is a little bit high, but in UK , it is higher cost effective. Only the tea and beef stomach are not very well

Tried four times, phone and email to book a table, no confirmation and staff too busy to talk to me.

The staff are reasonably polite, but the food are top-rated. Their dim-sum are the best and would recommend.

I bloody love it, so as soon…read moreas I heard this place had taken over the dumpling inn spot I was very keen to get in and try it ASAP. Trudie M and I dropped in for a spot of lunch today and we were not disappointed. The menu is simple, about 20 rice dish options, a couple of congee ones and a couple of noodle ones. This is a cafe style place, nothing to fancy, but the food had tonnes of taste and the staff were extremely friendly. All the dishes are 7.50 a go, you get a huge bowl of rice and your chosen topping. I had salt & pepper pork loin and it was tremendous. The pricing is also great. We got loads of food and two tsing Tao for just 22 quid. We were really full and left very happy. The food tasted really fresh and actually sort of healthy to. Another great addition to the ever growing Chinese restaurant scene in Glasgow. It has lots of stiff completion already, but for me it is 5 stars of course... But you probably could of guessed that.

The restaurant is casual - a good place to pop in for a quick meal, it's nothing fancy though. There was a group of us so they seated us at a round table in the middle which had stools which wasn't totally ideal but as I said, we were just in for a quick meal. The menu is simple - mostly rice dishes with a couple of noodle/congee dishes. I ordered aubergine and pork with rice for £7.50 and was really impressed - a big portion and really filled me up after a day of drinking. Staff were friendly, the vibe was relaxed and the price was very reasonable. Even including a couple of beers I think it was about £12 each. I'll definitely be back.

When Ka Ka Lok appeared next to long standing Chinese / Malaysian restaurant Asia Style with its bright red signage and funky Chinese style cartoon logo I thought to myself, "ooft that's brave opening up next to a Glasgow institution". But, to my delight, this place more than stood up for itself. Although the restaurant is rather big and sparse looking, it was busy and loud enough, with a regular turnover of local Chinese customers to give the place a good vibe. We were warmly greeted on arrival and taken to our table. The waitress promptly gave us two menus to look over, one an 'English' menu and the other a 'Chinese' one. The English menu contained your typical Black Bean / Sichuan / Sweet & Sour type dishes, probably curated for the westerners. Not Fish & Chips and Chicken Pies as I had originally imagined being on an 'English' menu. The Chinese menu was a Hong Kong style fare, with more traditional dishes such as Clay Pot stews, seafood/fish dishes, roasts etc. Needless to say we all ordered from the Chinese menu and the staff were ever so friendly in helping us to make our decisions. In fact the owner was key to helping us have a great meal as he picked out some great dished for us. We opted for a dozen dumplings to nibble on as an appetiser, which were delicious. Then a feast of Clay Pot dishes arrived, including aubergine and salt fish, XO Seafood, an outstanding and tender beef stew, three kind roast containing pork belly / char sui / duck, Singapore style noodles and a giant vat of rice. It has to be said the quality of the food and ingredients was second to none and the portions were hugely generous. Again the owner and his staff made us feel incredibly welcome and they kept checking up on us to make sure we were happy with the food. Although they don't have a drinks license, we were treated to endless supplies of refreshing jasmine tea. Furthermore they have a great tasting Aloe juice, which I think I may now be addicted too. To summarise Ka Ka Lok, weird name, amazing food and cheap as chips!
