What's with the high Yelp reviews?…read more The Guest House Raleigh is not a "Bed & Breakfast", it's more like a shared AirBnB. There's no host to welcome you into their home. I had to search for the door code in a text after we arrived. I felt the entire check in process was cold and impersonal. Once you're inside, then you'll see the beauty in the details for Guest House Raleigh. The open kitchen is welcoming. You can't cook or use the oven but it sure looks nice. This is from their website: *The kitchen is not available for cooking or food storage. The proprietor must be a tea lover, there are 10 tea choices with assorted honeys. I started driving from Miami, I want coffee and I want it strong. Tea is not on my wish list. I used the Keurig in the kitchen but I hate those things. The coffee tastes weird and its a lot of microplastics. Not a fan. Once we closed the door behind us, the room was like being in a spa. Light woods, comfortable bedding and good shower products made the entire stay feel like more upscale. Someone wrote they had linen sheets, Its October and linen season is over. Overall, it was a nice room and I enjoyed the shower. (Once I figured out how to use the hot water) I texted my brother in law in the morning. Come to the kitchen, they're making Brioche French Toast! He was up like Hong Kong Phooey screaming: Where's the syrup! When he saw me eating a cup of yogurt with the gluten free-vegan-unsweetened granola? His face dropped. Sadness. *Proprietor - If I'm not going to meet or see you, then make me feel the hospitality! Bake a pound cake for breakfast, offer cups of waffles with a waffle maker, something other than yogurt and a banana. I mean, can we agree on Hard Boiled eggs? Raleigh isn't my final stop, I need to drive another few hundred miles. Street Parking is something I must point out. There is no private parking lot for The Guest House Raleigh. *There is free street parking on Bloodworth Street with a 2-hr limit weekdays 8am-5pm, and unlimited after hours and weekends. We left before 8am, just keep in mind if you want to sleep late, you'll need to feed the parking meter. The town is doing road construction on Bloodworth Street, they are making their way up to The Guest House Raleigh. The question is, would I stay here again? I enjoy both the Bed & "Breakfast" when I travel, tough call.

They are horrible inflexible and are unwilling to help you. They have zero sympathy or caring for you personal needs or wants. They refuse to give you pictures of what you may purchase, refuse to work with you on pricing, and refuse to work with you on delivery. I used them for a year and was moving and wanted to transfer my lease. Not only did they increase the price of the lease, they moved my delivery date back a week (so i would have NO BED OR FURNITURE FOR A WEEK) just a mere two days before i moved. They also decided to throw on a $100 delivery charge after they told me it would be free. Horrible customer service and ability to talk to and relate to human beings. I recommend paying money to buy furniture and then sell it on craigslist before ever going with this company. HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!

I worked with this company 1 time to assist with housing accommodations for a family of mine that needing housing due to a fire that they had. At first they were helpful and friendly as most companies would be prior to making a sale but then when we signed the lease is when Melanie Rodriguez took over and it became a nightmare! She is rude and very inconsiderate. Temporary Living Company invoiced and charged us fee's for taxes that we were not even aware existed. We were told too bad and that they did not care if we used them again or not. Very sad. They charged double a pet fee for a small little pet when the actual property was charging them half so they made a large fee off that. If your in need of relocation or assistance with Temporary Housing I would suggest you do your homework and look for other resources first. Otherwise you may be charged for things you were not expecting. Good luck!

My fiance and I have been looking for a spectacular venue to get married in May 2013- and in…read moresearching for alternative sites to churches and expensive locations like Fearrington House, Carolina Inn and the like, happened upon the Lodge on Pickards Mountain. In late February 2012, we scheduled a visit and enjoyed it so much we actually came back a 2nd time that same day to take another look. We immediately e-mailed the owners (who shall not be named) and told them we'd like to proceed. We confirmed then that we'd meet in late May to take a final look at the property and presumably, to possibly look at and sign the contract. So, May 2012 rolls around and we're excited and ready to go look at the property. And we couldn't have been more thrilled with it. Actually, our photographer came out to view the property and loved it as well. Yup, we invited and paid for the photographer to come look at the property. Unfortunately, due to personal emergencies, one of the owners couldn't be there, but we met with the second owner and we were shown the new additions to the property. We were ready to sign, and on May 29th, 2012, I asked to see a contract and they said they'd put together a proposal and get it out to me - saying they were excited about the wedding and wanted my experience to be world class. However, they then back-tracked and said the price on their VRBO site (their only site), was not valid. Not only was it not valid, in that they'd raise the rates, but that they wouldn't even tell me the rates until August. I had a couple of issues with this response. One, we had told them since late Feburary (almost four months at that point) that we had been interested. They had known we were looking for a price list. Second, where is the promised proposal? What are your actual charges? Third, how can you not have prices? Any lodge, wedding venue, or even hotel, will have rates for people who like to think ahead and book their wedding (which by now, was well within a year). How were you planning on sending me a proposal without any prices? Fourth, I've never experienced anywhere that hasn't been willing to honor their rates. We still wanted the place, so we nicely asked them to give us some sort of price list, but instead, they gave us this response: "We really do appreciate your interest in the Lodge. We feel it would be best for you to pursue other options at this time." Wow. You've got to be kidding me. We were shocked and disappointed. Not sure how we came from having a date soft-booked, in particular having shown interest in signing a contract - regardless of price, as previously mentioned, to having the people responsible for the venue cancel my reservation without giving any reason for doing so. They had been going through some personal problems that I won't go into for privacy reasons - again, note my non-usage of any sort of names - but for a business, or a wanna-be business, personal problems are that - personal. If you need a time-out, then hire someone to help you (see my previous offer). Even with their personal problems, I hardly pushed at all, following up about once a week and tried to be as unobtrusive as possible. The biggest problem, of course, is that we stopped looking for locations after finding "the perfect one." Their only website showed rates for a 3-day stay or one day event, and that's what we assumed would be the case. They've since increased their prices, and added language about contacting them for weddings and events, but I'd encourage you to not bother contacting them at all. I've added fantastic alternatives on a separate page, and would encourage you to call them instead. I don't know why they abruptly canceled my reservation - but I do know that this is no way to run a business. Either you gain a customer's trust, or you don't. Either you renege on a handshake deal, or you don't. Either you honor the prices you list, or you don't. These business principles are pretty simple. So, that's the story. I want as many people as possible to read this and remember that 1) you've never got an agreement until it's in writing, and 2) be careful dealing with these people because they will cancel your reservation for no reason at all. What I think happened is that they knew other people might be interested, people richer than us and who didn't care about the price, and they just decided to go with them. Greed at least is a better reason than other ones like racism, which I really hope isn't the case. Thanks for nothing, Pickards Mountain. We booked the lodge to house some of our family members for our upcoming wedding and it has thus…read morefar been a great experience. Although our stay doesn't begin yet until the end of the week, all communications with the lodge owner Anne has been superb. Anne has been very responsive and answers emails immediately. We've been planning the wedding from out-of-town so this responsiveness eliminates any potential headache. Since we're planning from out of town, we asked if we could stop by one day while we were in town in order to see the house to decide whether it was a fit for us - Anne was very welcoming for that and made arrangements for us to see it. We will be holding our rehearsal dinner there too and when we asked Anne if she is okay with that she again accommodated that. Anne has found a way to meet all of our requests and it has been a pleasure so far. I'm sure our stay will be wonderful and it'll be nice to have our families stay together before the big day.
