A friend and I were driving to Charlotte for a concert last night and stopped at Steve's Market &…read moreSmokehouse for our dinner. My buddy had been here before and insisted we eat there. It was a great suggestion as my food was very good. We ate on the Smokehouse side (there is a deli side as well that share the space and a unique speciality market as well). I ordered their "2-Meat and 2-Sides" meal, and chose the smoked Prime Beef brisket and pulled pork with scalloped potatoes and baked beans. Many other meats were available. The portions were good but the price was rather high but to be expected for this kind of restaurant. It was all excellent. The brisket was smoked and cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. It was not too fatty. The pulled pork was great too as were both my sides. It came with three hush puppies about the size of golf balls or slightly larger. There was plenty of seating despite it being very busy. They have a selection of adult beverages and several unique hard liquor drinks that looked interesting but I just had water. I'll eat here again. I would have liked to have explored the market area further but we did not have time.

This is my go-to nearly every Friday for lunch. My usual is the Italiano with jalapeños, but I'm…read morealso smitten with the Spicy Black Forest Ham (pro tip, go with cheddar over the pepper-jack cheese) and only lightly toasted... the pickle is such a nice touch. Four bucks extra gets you chips and a drink for a combo (pro tip, the drink can be one of the bottles from the coolers as well) While you're waiting for that beautiful sandwich, browse the butchery for some prime meat cuts, the coolers are stuffed with local NC cheeses, smoked meats, prepared items like pimiento cheese, feta, hoop cheese, dips, eggs, etc... The back end of the store has a wide selection of craft beers, wines, hot sauces, frozen meats, and frozen appetizers. There's often specials from the butchery that will give you deals on chicken wings, legs, thighs, and some beef cuts. You owe it to yourself to stop in, grab a sandwich, chill, and treat yourself to a piece of cheesecake for dessert.

Food and Drink: Mannnnn it has been over a decade since I had last this place and it brought back…read moreso many memories of my time in Mebane!! For dinner, I had the Johnson Club, onion rings, and sweet tea. The club was and still is one of the best club sandwiches I've ever had. The amount of protein is plentiful, and the addition of the egg puts this over the top. The restaurant is a bakery so the bread used for the sub is soft and fresh. The onion rings were hot, had the perfect amount of crisp and they were not soggy like other places I've been to. Overall, I left with nostalgia and I am definitely looking forward to coming back! Customer Service: Upon arrival, the waitresses welcomed me in and invited me to sit anywhere. I was promptly tended to and my waitress was soooooo friendly!!! It's the southern charm and politeness I miss the most about North Carolina and neighboring areas. Already knowing the sandwich I wanted, I took her advice between the fries and onion rings and she didn't steer me wrong! I appreciate her work ethic and making sure that everyone in the dining room had what they needed and helping a few others (some first timers!) decide on what they wanted. Ambiance: This place is casual, and intimate in a way. It's not a huge space but it's big enough for multiple groups to enjoy lunch or small families to have a sit-in dinner. I highly recommend this place as a stop on any commute between Charlotte and the Research Triangle Area.

One negative, otherwise great pizza, seating, restrooms etc…read more Everything is self-serve, when at cash register giving order and paying with card it asked for custom tip, 18%, and higher! This is a serve yourself, clear the table like a McDonalds. Requesting a tip upfront before receiving pizza and being self serving restaurant I found this over and above. Someone brings pizza to table when cooked. Otherwise it's on you. I spoke with the cashier about this and he said it was the owners thing. Seems like money grabbing to me to pay the bills. I think this will chill more customers than is worth it. Maybe not, maybe just me‍
