    Strawberries!
    Amy M.

This is a super cute family farm that has a surprisingly sophisticated strawberry self-pick service. They have several huge fields, so you can wear a mask and physical distance while enjoying the fresh air, sunshine, and beautiful fresh strawberries. It was $14 for a gallon. It's cash only and I recommend checking the hours and availability on their website before heading over. I just checked the website and they're closed for the season, so I'm glad I got to go while they were still open! I went at the end of April - FYI for next year :)

    Kid friendly.

Great spot! Friendly. Peaceful in the later evening in May when it's not too hot. Strawberries-a-plenty.

Lots of fun. Recommend it. Just avoid hours when hot because there is no shade. I also did not see water anywhere to wash up?

Great place. Easy to pick, wide rows, clean. Strawberries are good this year, and $1.50 a pound. Off Erwin and Sinai Rd.

So there's not really too much to do other than sit on some rocking chairs & eat some ice cream (which we did enjoy doing.) I didn't even realize that there was a trail out there until after we had already left and I'm seeing other people's reviews so they may need to put up signs for that in the store area. I feel like the inside is really just ice cream, coffee, and a small little nursery area. Not sure if the drive out there was really worth it for the 15 to 20 minutes we spent out there. The banana ice cream was really awesome though and all of the employees there were very helpful and nice. Definitely a place that you go to when there's an actual event unfortunately we just missed the fall wreath making event Seems like people bring their kids out there to run around the outdoor area. Not sure if the prices of the ice cream or the plants was necessarily great, but it's a smaller owned business I'm sure so it tracks

They make homemade icecream and sorbet year round. Also they serve coffees and lattes. There is some picnic tables around to enjoy coffee and icecream with a beautiful view of the farm. I tried the coffee leche icecream and the strawberry and green apple cider sorbet. There all great flavors.

Yes, the…read moreprices are a smidge high and yes they don't have everything you need, but still, it's always a wonderful stop to grab some essentials, and things you never know you needed. Like a fox candle! Ha! I love seeing how they have new vegetables and produce every now and then. Back in the day before the pandemic (and maybe they still have this?), they'd have nights where there was a select menu and you could have a weeknight meal for an affordable price. Kind of like Cafeteria food. They gave you coins to pay for it, and the turn out was always so robust. It was a really nice way to get the community together and also try dishes that you probably hadn't had in a while, or even ever. I remember those events, being the talk of the town. My friends would mark on their calendars that it was a "no-cook night" and to meet them there. Fun times. I've been meaning to sign up for their owners program, that is on my to-do list. By donating a certain amount to the co-op, you become a founding member and help support the co-op. It's a sweet way to be involved and invest in the Durham community. I also love the parking situation at the co-op, you are never fighting for a place to park, and the parking spots are not razor thin. At the front of the store, there is a grassy area with picnic benches, and I find it so inviting. People are having lunch dates there, sharing snacks, and just enjoying the weather. I will say though, the co-op is one of those places that I have to remember to go to. Now that I'm writing out all that I love about it, I will continue to keep it on my mind.

The main market is open from 8-12 pm on Saturdays (and seasonally on Wednesdays), go early to avoid some of the lines! The 2 bread stalls will ALWAYS have a long line (go to their store fronts to avoid the lines). There are some small material items you can buy as well (cups, clothes, jewelry, art, soap, baskets), but the majority of this market is food. My favorite stops to make would be Celebrity Dairy for their goat cheese spreads (AMAZING on crackers, get the "Party Mix"!!!!!), and Melina's ravioli (delicious homemade ravioli and pasta sauces). Note #1: Separate parking lot for customers! (Market is ON the Foster Street, which will be closed during the market.) Note #2: NO DOGS allowed!!! TIP: BRING A BAG!!!! NO bags with any purchases, so bring your own!! (Or buy one there.)
