Soft serve ice cream is my absolute FAVORITE !!! We recently moved to Hillsborough and we could not be happier to find this little gem. A small little farm that we are glad to support. Give them a try - you will be so glad that you did.

What a cute hidden gem about 15 minutes from Hillsborough. They have a new soft serve ice cream available every Friday-Sunday. We tried the peach swirled with ginger which was phenomenal. So fresh, and not too sweet with perfectly paired flavor profiles. They also had a farm stand with fresh veggies available for purchase. You can walk around the farm and see the animals. Would be the perfect spot for families with kids who want space to run and explore. Such a beautiful and peaceful space!

Cool little farm selling produce and soft serve ice cream. Tried the vegan vanilla and butter pecan cones. Nice drive out St Mary's in Hillsborough.

Broken Spoke Farm is SO cute. It is the quaintest little stop in the middle of nowhere. They make 2 fresh ice cream flavors every week and you have to try their different flavors. They also have some fresh veggies that you can purchase. You have to walk around the back of the barn area to see the animals. Truly, such a cute experience.

I'd heard about this produce farm from a foodie page and their creative ice cream flavors, so we took a little drive to give it a try. What a lovely setting and the owner couldn't have been nicer! We got a twist cone of fresh homemade blueberry and sweet corn soft serve ice cream. Delicious!!

Broken Spoke is such a treasure on the backroads of Hillsborough. I love looking at the rotating weekend ice cream flavors and trying the ones that catch my eye (which happens quite often) with my mom. The best flavor combo by far is the cantaloupe sorbet and vanilla ice cream. I also love the pumpkin (tastes very spicy and not too sweet). Occasionally, there is a flavor that is not my cup of tea, but I appreciate the fact that they have such bold and unique flavors! You can also pick up ice cream pints and veggies on the honor system throughout the week. There are nice areas to sit or to walk around and see some of the plants.

Great find! Delicious homemade soft serve! Bring the kids, wander around the farm. They even sell vegetable plants - very reasonably priced. Pints are also available for take home. Friendly service, family run, dog friendly and just a great sweet treat!

So there's not really too much to do other than sit on some rocking chairs & eat some ice cream (which we did enjoy doing.) I didn't even realize that there was a trail out there until after we had already left and I'm seeing other people's reviews so they may need to put up signs for that in the store area. I feel like the inside is really just ice cream, coffee, and a small little nursery area. Not sure if the drive out there was really worth it for the 15 to 20 minutes we spent out there. The banana ice cream was really awesome though and all of the employees there were very helpful and nice. Definitely a place that you go to when there's an actual event unfortunately we just missed the fall wreath making event Seems like people bring their kids out there to run around the outdoor area. Not sure if the prices of the ice cream or the plants was necessarily great, but it's a smaller owned business I'm sure so it tracks

Also they serve coffees and lattes. There is some picnic tables around to enjoy coffee and icecream with a beautiful view of the farm. I tried the coffee leche icecream and the strawberry and green apple cider sorbet. There all great flavors.

Their huge swing is amazing and a highlight for kids! The staff is also very kind. We have visited their haunted house (eclectic, great for younger kids) and for their flowers in the spring and both have been empty (which in my mind is good). You can easily picnic and have all the space you want to yourselves Negatives-there isn't a lot going on. If you prefer places with a lot of activities this is not the place for you

When you arrive at the farm, follow the gravel driveway back to the barn as that is where the designated parking is at. Then if you are picking flowers, you check in and are provided a grocery store type basket and a pair of scissors. The basket was great as it was light and had two handles. It was also nice that scissors were provided as I've been forgetful in the past and left them at home before. Or if you had ordered produce you can pick that up under the tent. The website is really easy to navigate and make your purchase. The driveway that you drove up, provides a lovely walk back down to where the flowers are at. There were some animals along the way too! There are signs up in the areas that you are allowed to pick flowers. When you finished finding flowers in the various areas, you walk back up to the barn and the flowers are wrapped and put into a mason jar vase. Also tips are given for caring for the flowers. I really enjoyed my outing to the farm and the reservation system made it so easy to social distance as there were not too many of us there at once. The staff was beyond friendly and made me feel welcomed.
