Update to her response **…read more 1) i did not leave a review because I left the country immediately after my stay and did not see it until the period was up. 2) the Airbnb history shows she is actually lying because she initiated like 5 messages in a row and I only responded in hopes it would have her stop messing me 3) literally none of those supplies were there as I stayed there, so again, she is lying. Additionally, I'm not sure why as a host you wouldn't tell me where those items are *if* they were even there 4) sure she's hosted for plenty of years but if you dig through her reviews you can see a decent amount of negative reviews through her business and Airbnb - which I regretfully wish I looked through after the fact. Don't stay with joy through Airbnb, and if this is how she operates through Airbnb, I wouldn't work with her for her other business either. I had a short stay with joy and she left an incredibly inaccurate review because she was too lazy to do any work and basically have the guest ensure the property was ready for their next guest. I have had multiple stays with my pets and have never had an issue. Prior to the stay, joy had a few critical pet policy rules that were NOT visible until after the stay was paid and confirmed. After I was able to see them, I immediately attempted to cancel, but she wouldn't allow me to and would not give me a refund. My pets are professionally trained but they are large. Joy mentioned I used her white towels to clean mud of the dogs, which is correct. Their backyard was muddy (because of the rain) and to respect their house I cleaned their paws. What she did not mention, was those white towels were under her kitchen sink, which anyone would reasonably assume they are to be used for cleaning. They were even left in the washing machine prior to departure, but of course joy did not provide any detergent. What she also forgot to mention was that she had no other cleaning rags, towels, or napkins. I did not even use the towels that were in her bathroom. Additionally, she did not have any cleaning supplies besides a (low performing) vacuum. Before my departure, I vacuumed the house as best as the vacuum could. My pets were professionally groomed 2 days before they arrived to her house, and we stayed with 2 other guests who do not own pets. If the house smelled like dogs, they would have mentioned it. While I understand it is a nuisance to have pet hair (even though all of my dogs are short haired dogs who don't shed much), it is not my responsibility for her lack of planning and checking in a guest a few hours after a pet stay. It is a reasonable assumption to make that pet hair will remain after a pet stay., and if she had provided any cleaning material, even though she had an excessive cleaning and pet fee, their house would have been cleaned more appropriately of fur. This review inaccurately describes my stay, highlights the hosts planning capabilities, and ruins my ability for my well behaved dogs to attend future trips with me. Every Airbnb I have stayed at, I have cleaned more than required for a host that charges a cleaning fee. To charge a cleaning and pet fee and to blame me for pet hair, while attempting to clean their home with no equipment, even though they annoyingly contacted me excessively, meaning multiple times a day during my stay is absurd and if this highlights how she conducts business, I wouldn't work with her if you read this

What's with the high Yelp reviews?…read more The Guest House Raleigh is not a "Bed & Breakfast", it's more like a shared AirBnB. There's no host to welcome you into their home. I had to search for the door code in a text after we arrived. I felt the entire check in process was cold and impersonal. Once you're inside, then you'll see the beauty in the details for Guest House Raleigh. The open kitchen is welcoming. You can't cook or use the oven but it sure looks nice. This is from their website: *The kitchen is not available for cooking or food storage. The proprietor must be a tea lover, there are 10 tea choices with assorted honeys. I started driving from Miami, I want coffee and I want it strong. Tea is not on my wish list. I used the Keurig in the kitchen but I hate those things. The coffee tastes weird and its a lot of microplastics. Not a fan. Once we closed the door behind us, the room was like being in a spa. Light woods, comfortable bedding and good shower products made the entire stay feel like more upscale. Someone wrote they had linen sheets, Its October and linen season is over. Overall, it was a nice room and I enjoyed the shower. (Once I figured out how to use the hot water) I texted my brother in law in the morning. Come to the kitchen, they're making Brioche French Toast! He was up like Hong Kong Phooey screaming: Where's the syrup! When he saw me eating a cup of yogurt with the gluten free-vegan-unsweetened granola? His face dropped. Sadness. *Proprietor - If I'm not going to meet or see you, then make me feel the hospitality! Bake a pound cake for breakfast, offer cups of waffles with a waffle maker, something other than yogurt and a banana. I mean, can we agree on Hard Boiled eggs? Raleigh isn't my final stop, I need to drive another few hundred miles. Street Parking is something I must point out. There is no private parking lot for The Guest House Raleigh. *There is free street parking on Bloodworth Street with a 2-hr limit weekdays 8am-5pm, and unlimited after hours and weekends. We left before 8am, just keep in mind if you want to sleep late, you'll need to feed the parking meter. The town is doing road construction on Bloodworth Street, they are making their way up to The Guest House Raleigh. The question is, would I stay here again? I enjoy both the Bed & "Breakfast" when I travel, tough call.

Really well appointed, with lots of well-thought-out small details. Great location, responsive…read morestaff, good amenities.
