Yuck. Sorry, but this Holiday Inn needs to step it up BIG time: it all starts with the family that…read moreruns this place (rude, self ingratiating, unhelpful).. This place gets you with kind women who check you in for your stay - it's downhill from there: no athletic rooms, zero substantial breakfast (even though I was told there was), no cream or milk for coffee, Internet that was non-existent and totally substandard help from the guy at the front desk 'Ahmedi'.. each time I came down into the lobby the pal was either stuffing HIS JOWL with guest snack food or making coffee for himself in the middle of the entrance! Beds were made well, but the sheets were wrinkled and did not look like they were fresh! Room was narrow and dark. The family that ran the hotel reminded me of a crime-operation type staff. Manager eating his own breakfast in the morning. The other guy parked his own car under the overpass in front in the shade while OLD Veterans, with rollers and in wheelchairs were now forced to circumvent said parked vehicles: this is NOT PROPER AND VERY RUDE BY HOTEL STAFF. Hotel staff: PARK YOUR CAR IN THE LOT!!!!! Internet was non-usable, even after figuring out how and which password is used! The TV channel fell out to a black screen at the tiniest rain shower in this area. Invest in a strong router - I MEAN IT. Internet has to work at Holiday Inn, or visitors will go some place else for their holiday. As pictures from Holiday Inn Hillsborough show clearly: trash was blowing in the entrance into the lobby and no effort was made to keep clean in the middle of the Covid-19 Pandemic! There was lots of paper and garbage in the hallways. Trashy. Sloooooooooooow elevator.. Rebel review: 3 No internet, no wifi, TV power outages

Because the staff was extremely friendly and helpful I am still giving the hotel two stars. My 83…read moreyear old mother and I stayed in the same room while in town for a wedding. My mother booked the room. First, the refrigerator was barely cooler than room temperature. The mattress were beyond their time, were soft and had permanent body indents. The sheets were clean and neatly pressed. The room was extremely dark with no overhead lighting, even with all the lights on, it would be uncomfortable to read in bed. All that said, it was the condition of the bathroom that earned this low rating and review. The toilet seat was so loose, you had to be extremely careful while sitting and you had to hold onto the counter and side of tub to get up. The floor was missing large chunks of grout and filled with dirt, the shower head was pulled from the wall, hair was stuck to the wall above the shower, and last but not least, there was mold on the walls by the tub. With my mother being 83 and physically weak, she did not want to go through the hassle of switching hotels- however if it had been just me, I would have left immediately. I have attached pictures of the bathroom.

From the…read morehotel staff to the rooms themselves, we experienced a very special and highly refined impromptu "escape" that was embodied with all the finest aspects of Italian elegance. IMO anybody who has actually been to Italy would agree, every detail evoked the charm of a Tuscan villa but with the perfect amount of modern luxury. Our room was well designed and clean, and the overall experience felt truly elevated. But the true highlight was dining at II Palio (their signature Four Diamond restaurant). Simply put: the food was phenomenal. From the perfectly crafted brisket and short rib burger--to the house-made meatballs and incredibly seasoned, fresh oysters, every dish showcased top-tier ingredients and culinary precision. Finally, the overall service was exceptional: Hotel staff were welcoming and gracious as well as knowledgeable, and genuinely enjoyable. That said, the addition of II Palio is second to none! This hotel and restaurant isn't just a "hotel restaurant"--it's a memorable destination AND we're already planning our return!!

The hotel is now a Hyatt property and the renovations added modern touches to the sleeping rooms and lobby and restaurant. We parked overnight and the valet and front desk and all the staff are extremely friendly and hospitable. The standard rooms come with showers so I paid an upgrade for a bathtub. The rooms come equipped with a mini fridge, robes, a lovely Nespresso machine, and very comfortable bed. We had a delicious dinner at Crossroads and also a fantastic brunch buffet on Sunday morning. The hotel is known as a wedding venue so it is a great place to host rehearsal dinners and weddings and have the guests stay overnight. It is the university hotel and has the Carolina charm and history and is a great place to stay for alumni, weddings, or other local events. You are within walking distance of the campus and right by Franklin street. Thank you for making our staycation so fabulous!

Although note that you can't really walk to the main campus from here (although they provide a guest shuttle option). Check in was quick and easy, and staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable, and was stocked with luxury amenities like Nest bath products and a stocked Keurig machinene. The Rizzo Center also had a full-sized gym, complete with two stationary bikes, a rowing machine, a peloton, a cable machine, a couple of treadmills and machines, and full dumbbell sets. They also provided a guest pantry, which was open 24/7, and stocked with ice cream, soda, coffee and tea. They also had several laundry machines on each floor, free for guests to use. The complimentary breakfast on the first floor was great, and included oats, grits, fruits, yogurt, pastries and hot foods (frittata, scrambled eggs, french toast, sausage/bacon, etc.). Definitely recommend staying here when visiting the RTP area.
