Clean, tidy space. Great for a few nights, but not extended stay. I recommend for anyone who likes great company and conversation.

What's with the high Yelp reviews?…read more The Guest House Raleigh is not a "Bed & Breakfast", it's more like a shared AirBnB. There's no host to welcome you into their home. I had to search for the door code in a text after we arrived. I felt the entire check in process was cold and impersonal. Once you're inside, then you'll see the beauty in the details for Guest House Raleigh. The open kitchen is welcoming. You can't cook or use the oven but it sure looks nice. This is from their website: *The kitchen is not available for cooking or food storage. The proprietor must be a tea lover, there are 10 tea choices with assorted honeys. I started driving from Miami, I want coffee and I want it strong. Tea is not on my wish list. I used the Keurig in the kitchen but I hate those things. The coffee tastes weird and its a lot of microplastics. Not a fan. Once we closed the door behind us, the room was like being in a spa. Light woods, comfortable bedding and good shower products made the entire stay feel like more upscale. Someone wrote they had linen sheets, Its October and linen season is over. Overall, it was a nice room and I enjoyed the shower. (Once I figured out how to use the hot water) I texted my brother in law in the morning. Come to the kitchen, they're making Brioche French Toast! He was up like Hong Kong Phooey screaming: Where's the syrup! When he saw me eating a cup of yogurt with the gluten free-vegan-unsweetened granola? His face dropped. Sadness. *Proprietor - If I'm not going to meet or see you, then make me feel the hospitality! Bake a pound cake for breakfast, offer cups of waffles with a waffle maker, something other than yogurt and a banana. I mean, can we agree on Hard Boiled eggs? Raleigh isn't my final stop, I need to drive another few hundred miles. Street Parking is something I must point out. There is no private parking lot for The Guest House Raleigh. *There is free street parking on Bloodworth Street with a 2-hr limit weekdays 8am-5pm, and unlimited after hours and weekends. We left before 8am, just keep in mind if you want to sleep late, you'll need to feed the parking meter. The town is doing road construction on Bloodworth Street, they are making their way up to The Guest House Raleigh. The question is, would I stay here again? I enjoy both the Bed & "Breakfast" when I travel, tough call.

The centerpiece of the house's interior is a rotunda supported by four Corinthian columns and lit by a stained glass window located on the roof. Walking into the foyer you cant help but embrace the timeless grace, where every corner whispers of history and a bygone era. There is a quiet serenity to the space, as if time slows just a little bit inside. The modern touch added to the old renovated mansion does come with a bit of a sharp, sterile elegance of a modern mansion. The Parlor is a great place to enjoy a delicious craft cocktail and even better, ADULTS ONLY! There are also many other lovely seating arrangements throughout the property, including outdoors, and a few even come with fire pits. Regardless of your intentions for visiting the Heights House, I am quite confident there will be no disappointments, unless they have a private event. Cheers!

Everything is lovely and though it is all modern and sleek, it still feels fitting for the original era of the house. The cocktail area takes up most of the main floor, with a stand-up bar just off the entryway with a few tables and then a larger lounging area with sofas and chairs just beyond. The drinks are exceptionally good, and the spirits menu is creative. They also offer a few small plates. There is plenty of paved parking immediately next to the hotel for guests only, so that is not a hassle as it can be at some B&B/inn-type establishments. At check-in, you are offered a complimentary glass of sparkling wine to set the tone. The rooms are comfortable, but I will say that the entry-level ones are quite small (which is apparent on the website), but for the rates charged there isn't even a place to sit and read a book other than the bed. There's one small, delicate wicker chair that would be for tying shoes or whatever, but not lounging. The bed is luxuriously dressed, and there is drawer space and a minifridge, but no closet -- hanging items can go on hooks by the door out in the open. The bathroom is spacious enough, with a broad sink and elegant tilework. The lighting fixtures throughout are nifty. I found the breakfast sort of average for this type of place. I came later on, so perhaps there is more earlier, but there were a few pastries, some hard-boiled eggs, and fruit when I arrived. There's also a fancy coffee-drink contraption, but those aren't my thing so I left that alone. It's a very easy walk across the Boylan Bridge and down a couple of blocks to the area of the Dillon with several restaurants, and the performing arts center is not far beyond that. Location-wise, there's plenty that's walkable but also more an easy drive away.

Everything was landscaped nicely and debris free in the lot and walk up. The parking lot was adequate size, however most parking is side and rear. A nice greeting on check-in and no hiccups on an early arrival. Luggage carts were a welcome sight. The lobby is spacious with decor modern and attractive. They have a convenience area to purchase candy, drinks and even children's books. They also have computers for guest to use. My king room was ready for my arrival. I loved how much room there was and the kitchen with cook top, refrigerator and microwave was all I needed. It also comes with eating utensils and plates. The bathroom with adjacent sink outside the door was a nice set up and worked. There was also proper supplies of towel and soap. The climate control kept the room comfortable. I utilized the FREE breakfast once and found it more than adequate with a lot of variety of both hot and cold. There was visible staff attending it and they kept the bar and dining room clean. I did interact with the staff quite a bit before departing due to a snow short that hit the area. They were nice enough to lend me items to clear my car. The lot unfortunately was not cleared, but few businesses were. I do plan on returning to this terrific property. 4.5, rounding up.

You have to pass thru the Marriott parking lot to get to the Inn and their sign is small and hard to see. Check in was quick and pleasant. Our 3rd floor room faced trees and was very quiet. We booked a 2 queen room for just the 2 of us as it was lower rate than a king bed room. (Why?) Bed was a little firmer than I like but overall the room was comfortable and quiet. Bathroom had Dove products, enough towels and really good water pressure. There was a fridge, microwave and a Keurig coffee maker with pods. There were enough ports to connect and charge our devices. I have vision problems and I really appreciate that this hotel has nice wide hallways that are well-lit with no dark corners. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold food, coffee and tea, fruit and pastries. There's also a small area across from reception desk where you can buy snacks, essentials like toothpaste and microwaveable food. The only thing missing was beer and wine. The hotel does not have a license to sell alcohol but the Marriott next door (short walk) has a full bar. The hotel has recently gone thru a complete renovation and everything looks and feels upgraded. Every staff member we interacted with (front desk, housekeeping, breakfast staff) were professional, helpful and well trained in hospitality. We'd gladly stay here again when in the Raleigh area.

I surprised my parents (who were in town) with a Rickshaw tour of the city. Showing them all the new spots and all the places my wife and I hang out. The driver was super nice and knew a ton about what was going on downtown. It was like our own little-guided tour of the city. We went from the capital to the warehouse district and back. All they keep talking about was the Rickshaw tour and how much they love Raleigh and how we're so lucky to live here. I recommend using Raleigh Rickshaw for quick trips around downtown, but I really recommend it when you have visitors in town and you want them to get a good feel for the city. The driver was super nice, super professional and the whole experience kind of made my parents trip. 10/10
