have you ever been in downtown Raleigh and didn't feel like walking all over the place? Well wave down a Rickshaw!!! the guys awesome. they ride up and down DTR giving people FREE rides to a location in the area. every chance that i have had to ride in a Rickshaw was a fun experience. My daughter loves riding on them and the driver makes it fun for the kids as well. its a really convenient way to quickly get around and see Raleigh. all though the service is free, the only thing they ask for in exchange for services is your soul......................nah just kidding. A nice tip will do read more

Our Raleigh Rickshaw ride was the HIGHLIGHT of our downtown Raleigh sight-seeing. First off, the rickshaw seats are surprisingly comfortable! Second, the rickshaw cyclists are cute (in my humble opinion). And third, IT WAS SO FRIGGIN' FUN!!! Have you ever wanted to speed downhill on a busy street with the wind through your hair while a bunch of pissed off cars pile up behind you?! YES???? MEEEEEEE TOOOOO!!!! Raleigh Rickshaw completely fulfilled this fantasy and it exceeded my wildest dreams! I don't know what else to say, you can find them circling around near the Krispy Kreme on Fayetteville. The drivers are all friendly and non-creepy. They don't charge a fare, but I'm sure they'd appreciate tips for all that hard work! read more

These guys. Bless their little hearts. They'll tool up and down Glenwood, carrying whoever signals them to carry them however few blocks and then start over again. Next to the Segway cop, these guys are the unsung heroes of Downtown Raleigh. On the occasion that I've taken a ride (usually towards the end of the night), these guys have been polite and chatty in spite of the fact that they've been carrying drunken bar-hoppers to and fro for hours. Nice kids. I will warn you of one quick little thing. Our local NBC affiliate has taken to putting cameras in the Raleigh Rickshaw aimed at the drunk. Then they put what's said into those cameras online. So just remember that, while one of the true saints of Raleigh is carting you around, you're never as cool as you think you are when you're drunk. read more

We were approached by a few pedicab drivers this weekend in downtown Raleigh, who offered to give us a lift to War Memorial Auditorium. We were wearing gowns and heels, so we graciously accepted their "no charge" ride. All they asked was that we tipped whatever we felt the ride was worth. That seemed fair enough to me. The drivers were super friendly and in shape, and they got us to the auditorium in a jiffy. They even did a few loops so we would feel like we had a true "ride" instead of just a straight path. It was much more than a mode of transportation, in fact it was entertaining! I will definitely hop on another one the next time I'm in Raleigh. read more

We had a little more than an hour to kill before a concert and found a cyclist of the Raleigh Rickshaws, Jack. Jack was very helpful as we were trying to find a convenient store to aid my coughing. Jack kindly waited as we went into the convenient store, took us back to our car to get a phone and then a historical tour of downtown Raleigh. He was very informative about Raleigh's history and various historical sites around the city. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! We rode through a path made of cobblestones. Jack informed us that the path was from the old times and that this was how roads were made. After the tour, Jack kindly dropped us off the at Memorial Auditorium once they allowed early entrance for the concert. When we asked Jack what his rates were, he replied that it was free and that we were welcome to tip him according to what we thought the ride was worth. Please be courteous and tip the rickshaw cyclists! We ended up tipping Jack $30 because we felt like jerks (since Jack acted as chaffeur for us lol). It was a really nice experience and you should definitely try for yourself. It's a great way to impress a date! Jack definitely made my trip to Raleigh very memorable :) BTW, I think if you call ahead of time, the rickshaw cyclists will gladly pick up large groups after an event. read more

DO NOT BOOK FOR WEDDINGS! I would give them a zero if it were an option. I booked the wedding package from Raleigh Rickshaw through the owner, Donald Mertrud, in June for our daughter's wedding October 19, 2019 and they never showed. I received an email confirmation of the booking at the time of payment, with an invoice number and payment information. Several calls were made to confirm the booking. When I called him the Monday after the wedding, he told me they didn't book any rides in October and would get me my refund "as soon as he got to a computer." Donald has still not refunded my money and will no longer answer my calls. Very disappointing! read more

Won't respond. Paid for wedding in October a month ago. No response. Maybe out of business??

They will not let brides and grooms ride in the rickshaw without buying their "wedding package." I didn't want the decorations or anything wedding related, I just wanted a sober person to drive my husband and I back to our hotel. In fact, the owner told me about a different rickshaw company in downtown Raleigh and didn't care that he was losing my business. If you need them for wedding transportation, do not tell them you're getting married. read more

After a night of crazy speed dating I got a lift home on a rickshaw. Unlike others I have been on he didn't have any jams to play so the driver didn't get my singing skills on the way home. However the driver was super nice and got me home super efficiently. read more

My wife and I got married at the end of March in downtown Raleigh. We thought it'd be cool to leave in a rickshaw after the reception. We reserved it, paid for it in advance, and thought everything was squared away. We walked out of our reception to find NO rickshaw waiting for us. No phone call, no text message, no explanation, no nothing. It simply did not show up after paying $115 for the wedding package in advance. We didn't think it could get worse... We informed the owner of the situation after our honeymoon the following week. After saying how sorry he was and how he fired the employee that didn't show up, it took OVER TWO MONTHS for him to refund the money after multiple phone calls and emails. He also promised a $100 gift card to Capital Club for our inconvenience. Shocker here... that gift card never showed up. He was nice enough to send a free rickshaw ride coupon, which I would rather light on fire at this point. If you're looking for a wedding rickshaw, don't waste your time or money here. read more

Brides beware, their wedding package is a complete scam! I coordinated a reception at the Stockroom (in the heart of Downtown) this past weekend. Needing a ride for the bride and groom to the Marriott (a 2.5 block ride, mind you), I called Raleigh Rickshaw. I was told that they would not send a driver, as the bride's parents had not booked the $115 wedding package. My response being, "if I called and asked for a ride for 2 people right now, would you send a driver, if they were not a bride and groom?" The response was "yes." Asking for an explanation as to why a newly married couple is any different from other patrons of Downtown establishments, I was told "one is wearing white." The operator promptly hung up the phone. I proceeded to call Raleigh Rickshaw's competitor, Crank Arm. Their operator was friendly, straightforward and had a driver parked outside of the reception venue within 10 minutes of my initial contact. Unfortunately, Raleigh Rickshaw seems to operate with a significant, and unethical, wedding tax. Brides, save your time and money and go elsewhere. read more

This has to be one of the absolute worst services I have ever used, we used this service twice today going from the pnc arena to the NC State fair, both rides the drivers were the rudest people I might have ever met, going to the fair we it took 4 rickshaws to get our group to the gate, coming back we had a few less people so we only used 3, when the ride ended I asked the driver what we owed him and he said $12 I said no problem I want to pay for all 3 cars he said well it's going to be $55 I said I'm sorry what? $12 x 3 is $36 sir he said you're paying all together so that makes it $50 , I handed each driver $12 and walked away. We will never used this service again!!! read more

DO NOT BOOK FOR WEDDINGS!!! We booked and confirmed a ricksaw to provide transportation from our reception. On the night of wedding, our ricksaw never showed up despite us being outside at the stated time. Our bridal party was forced to try to hail us a cab and not participate in any send off. Then, when I asked for a refund, I was told "ABSOLUTELY not." Do not book with this company. They are unreliable and thieves. read more

Whoever was running the front desk phone sent a verbally abusive text message to my friend. My friend called and asked if they would be able to come retrieve us from our destination, the person said, "We do not operate at this time. You should have called earlier if you wanted a ride so badly." My friend was shocked, so simply said "okay, thank you" and hung up the phone. Well, apparently the desk person took that as some massive personal attack and sent a long berating text message to my friend's phone, finally saying "call us back when you grow up" at the end of the text. Outrageous. I go to Raleigh several times a year and these people will see not one red cent from me again. How dare you. read more

Had a great ride to the State Fair gate this week. Nice guy, really helped me out since I was with my two young kids. Very friendly.

I purchased the wedding package for Raleigh Rickshaw to transport my wife and I after our reception. Not only did no one show up, leaving us with no transportation from our reception, but when I contacted them afterwards, they did not even apologize. They also refused to refund my money. I will never use Raleigh Rickshaw again for anything! read more

The rickshaws clearly state that they work for tips only; however, at the state fair, after the ride began, the driver (#14) demanded $15. I pointed out that his pedicab stated that he works for tips only; however, he said that "he did not want to get scammed." Looks like he is the one who is scamming people. read more

I had a similar experience to the only other reviewer on this page. I found the booking process easy enough online and the owner called me to confirm specific arrangements, which I thought was nice. I asked him if he would touch base closer to my wedding date and he said he would call me the week-of to confirm. When my wedding week rolled around and I didn't hear from him, I called to confirm details. (My wedding the was the week of the State Far so I knew they would be busy.) The owner assured me that he had my wedding on the calendar and that they would be there, but sure enough, on the night of my wedding, my wedding coordinator approached me on the dance floor to confirm whether or not I had booked with them. I told her I had. Luckily, she was able to convince the owner to break from the State Fair to pick us up and he obliged and was there on-time. I probed him about what happened and he was adamant that he did not have me on the calendar (even though I called just a few days before to confirm). If you have a wedding coordinator, make sure he/she calls Raleigh Rickshaw the day-of to confirm pick-up. I think the owner is new at the online booking system and is a little disorganized with his calendar. (Or just book some other getaway car service for your wedding day and avoid the hassle and the cost). read more
