I use the Downtown Hopper Trolley while visiting Downtown Greensboro. The name "Hopper" is a…read moretribute to the Grasshopper Cannons from the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. On the inside of the trolley are historical photos. The service is free and has stops on most blocks in Downtown Greensboro, as well as stops at the Moses Cone Hospital Campus, State Street Shopping and Revolution Mill. There are stops at the Marriott hotel, Tanger Center, the International Civil Rights Museum, and Center City Park. It goes down to the railroad tracks and makes a loop back through, possibly, a residential neighborhood. The trolley is to come around to each stop about every 15 minutes. It operates on certain days of the week, but the hours have expanded in 2026. The trolley is accessible, though the driver's ability to pull over safely depends on the lane traffic and turn radius at certain stops. When I first started riding in 2023, you could get on anywhere and be dropped off anywhere on the route. But I noticed in 2025, they were stricter about picking up and dropping off only at the stops. I don't think there were as many stops in 2023, though, so every block makes sense. I think ridership would increase if it made all stops. As I've never seen many riding the trolley. It didn't stop for me at the marked stop, likely because the driver had to make a wide left turn into the one-way street while the stop was on the right. Since ridership seemed low, he probably wasn't expecting anyone to be waiting across the street from Corner Slice, but he was very kind and apologized when he pulled over farther up the road.

Four out of the 10 had bikes, so after getting them off the train they either carried them up the area (a good number) or used the elevator. Once you're at street level, you're on the main road in downtown High Point. We didn't step into the station until we were boarding to go back, but the interior is lined with hardwood and they've preserved the old time feel and look with the floors, walls and even the ticket counters. There was no attendant inside when we were there, and you have to get the restroom unlocked. The boarding platform is very long and has benches lining it. Before heading downstairs, take in the view of the skyline.
