The proceeds of the bike tour go to Water for Good, a non-profit that installs well water pumps in remote African communities to provide water for those in need. What better than a bike brew tour in Raleigh for a good cause?! There were tiered levels of support- $20 got you a bracelet & 1 free beer ticket, $50 got you a bracelet + beer stein + 3 beer tickets, and $150 got a hat + beer stein + 3 beer tickets. MudLove provided the awesome handmade beer steins. There were 4 different routes (two 18-milers, one 6.8-miler, and one 1.6-miler), and all started at Crank Arm and ended at the Natty Greene after-party. A *huge* thanks to Yelp for supporting this awesome initiative! Sara, Cassie, and I formed the Yelp team as we rode the 6-mile route from Crank Arm - Raleigh Brewing - Trophy - Natty Greene's. There were ~100 people on our route, and the volunteers did a fantastic job of leading the way & stopping traffic for us bikers to cross main roads. In summary, this was a fantastic way to support local craft brewers, Water for Good, and MudLove. I'm a huge fan & plan to do it again next year!

Took it back to then during peak bike repair days for students returning to campus. They may seem brusk to some when being honest about times, conditions, etc. They are HONEST and fit in a same-day flat repair only to charge me nothing saying they found a washer accidentally left in the tire from the last flat fix. AMAZING! Trust the staff, even if they speak frankly. They are VERY up front and honest and, very importantly, do excellent work at good prices/rates.

The husband-and-wife team who run the tours are genuinely kind, easy to talk to, and clearly enjoy sharing what they do. I loved that there wasn't any pressure to ride at a certain pace. The e-bike let me cruise and enjoy the scenery, while still having the option to pick up the speed when I wanted. The history along the route was interesting and told in a way that kept it fun and engaging. The tacos were absolutely delicious, and the margarita was the perfect reward after the ride. It felt less like a tour and more like spending a few hours with people who love their town and enjoy helping others experience it. If you're traveling solo like I was, don't hesitate to book. I lucked out and found a parking spot at Tap Room. It is a small lot, so it may fill up quickly. There is another lot behind the building to the side or street parking is available. There was a street market, so it was harder to find. I did double-check that I could park at the bar when I checked in for the tour. Restrooms are available inside, and food and beverages can be brought on the trolley with a few exceptions. I liked this tour as we got a history lesson while the trolley was moving, and then we got to get off at different stops for a new perspective and not just looking out the windows. I still enjoyed looking out the windows and took some photos from there that weren't part of the tour. St. Agnes Hospital was our first stop. The stone hospital was rebuilt and opened in June 1909. It was during the Jim Crow Era for black citizens, as they were not allowed in white hospitals. We also stopped at the Heck-Andrews House. We learned of a secret tunnel and that there used to be a baseball stadium where a parking lot sits today. Devereaux Meadow was a minor league baseball stadium. I never knew a grand "Castle" (the original Meredith College) once stood near the Executive Mansion. It was a hotel and state office buildings at one point, too. It's wild that it's just a parking lot now! We got to see one of the trolley stops of the Glenwood line. It took people to Bloomsbury Park. It had electric lights at the trolley park. There was even a roller coaster, carousel, and a dance pavilion. Heather was an amazing tour guide and shared her knowledge and love of the city with us. We purchased 2 new bikes online, performed the small amount of assembly required and attempted to…read moreuse them. They supposedly were tuned up at the factory to be operational but we found the gears and brakes to be poorly adjusted and the front wheels on both bikes were out of round. Realizing why the instruction books that came with the bikes began every section with 'We highly recommend you have the bike professionally tuned' we did some research finding that Bullseye has a great reputation and reasonable fees. We first took the front wheels to have them adjusted to them and within a day they had them ready for us. Having seen how competent, conscientious, professional, and responsive they were we dropped both bikes off to have them tuned up one the weekend and we had them back working superbly by that Tuesday. They take what they do seriously and are highly customer-focused. Totally recommend them.

It is BYOB on the bus and there is one stop for about 10-15 minutes during the 1.5 hour tour. We ended up grabbing a beer at the Accordion Club during our stop. It's BYOB but there's a 15 minute at Louella's if you forget to bring something. **Let me just start by saying, if you're easily triggered or don't know how to take a joke, this tour is not for you** The comedian, "Trevor that only works on Sunday's" was hilarious. He started with roll call when we got on the bus and got to know a bit about each person. We rode the bus for about 2 hours learning about Durham. As a Durham transplant, I actually learned more than I thought I would. When the windows are down, it's a bit cold so make sure to bring a jacket! They ended up putting up the windows after our break and it was warm and cozy inside! Overall, I really enjoyed my time at the Bull City Laughs and I'd recommend to my friends.
