Previously the Morning Glory, very charming and comfortable, the breakfast was amazing! The inn keeper Jordan has done a brilliant job.

Montfort Hall, originally owned by William Montfort Boylan and changing hands several times since…read morehas been fully restored into one gorgeous boutique hotel and event space. The centerpiece of the house's interior is a rotunda supported by four Corinthian columns and lit by a stained glass window located on the roof. Walking into the foyer you cant help but embrace the timeless grace, where every corner whispers of history and a bygone era. There is a quiet serenity to the space, as if time slows just a little bit inside. The modern touch added to the old renovated mansion does come with a bit of a sharp, sterile elegance of a modern mansion. The Parlor is a great place to enjoy a delicious craft cocktail and even better, ADULTS ONLY! There are also many other lovely seating arrangements throughout the property, including outdoors, and a few even come with fire pits. Regardless of your intentions for visiting the Heights House, I am quite confident there will be no disappointments, unless they have a private event. Cheers!

The first thing to say about this is that you will be massively impressed at every turn with the…read morejob they have done in restoration, renovation, and design. Everything is lovely and though it is all modern and sleek, it still feels fitting for the original era of the house. The cocktail area takes up most of the main floor, with a stand-up bar just off the entryway with a few tables and then a larger lounging area with sofas and chairs just beyond. The drinks are exceptionally good, and the spirits menu is creative. They also offer a few small plates. There is plenty of paved parking immediately next to the hotel for guests only, so that is not a hassle as it can be at some B&B/inn-type establishments. At check-in, you are offered a complimentary glass of sparkling wine to set the tone. The rooms are comfortable, but I will say that the entry-level ones are quite small (which is apparent on the website), but for the rates charged there isn't even a place to sit and read a book other than the bed. There's one small, delicate wicker chair that would be for tying shoes or whatever, but not lounging. The bed is luxuriously dressed, and there is drawer space and a minifridge, but no closet -- hanging items can go on hooks by the door out in the open. The bathroom is spacious enough, with a broad sink and elegant tilework. The lighting fixtures throughout are nifty. I found the breakfast sort of average for this type of place. I came later on, so perhaps there is more earlier, but there were a few pastries, some hard-boiled eggs, and fruit when I arrived. There's also a fancy coffee-drink contraption, but those aren't my thing so I left that alone. It's a very easy walk across the Boylan Bridge and down a couple of blocks to the area of the Dillon with several restaurants, and the performing arts center is not far beyond that. Location-wise, there's plenty that's walkable but also more an easy drive away.

What's with the high Yelp reviews?…read more The Guest House Raleigh is not a "Bed & Breakfast", it's more like a shared AirBnB. There's no host to welcome you into their home. I had to search for the door code in a text after we arrived. I felt the entire check in process was cold and impersonal. Once you're inside, then you'll see the beauty in the details for Guest House Raleigh. The open kitchen is welcoming. You can't cook or use the oven but it sure looks nice. This is from their website: *The kitchen is not available for cooking or food storage. The proprietor must be a tea lover, there are 10 tea choices with assorted honeys. I started driving from Miami, I want coffee and I want it strong. Tea is not on my wish list. I used the Keurig in the kitchen but I hate those things. The coffee tastes weird and its a lot of microplastics. Not a fan. Once we closed the door behind us, the room was like being in a spa. Light woods, comfortable bedding and good shower products made the entire stay feel like more upscale. Someone wrote they had linen sheets, Its October and linen season is over. Overall, it was a nice room and I enjoyed the shower. (Once I figured out how to use the hot water) I texted my brother in law in the morning. Come to the kitchen, they're making Brioche French Toast! He was up like Hong Kong Phooey screaming: Where's the syrup! When he saw me eating a cup of yogurt with the gluten free-vegan-unsweetened granola? His face dropped. Sadness. *Proprietor - If I'm not going to meet or see you, then make me feel the hospitality! Bake a pound cake for breakfast, offer cups of waffles with a waffle maker, something other than yogurt and a banana. I mean, can we agree on Hard Boiled eggs? Raleigh isn't my final stop, I need to drive another few hundred miles. Street Parking is something I must point out. There is no private parking lot for The Guest House Raleigh. *There is free street parking on Bloodworth Street with a 2-hr limit weekdays 8am-5pm, and unlimited after hours and weekends. We left before 8am, just keep in mind if you want to sleep late, you'll need to feed the parking meter. The town is doing road construction on Bloodworth Street, they are making their way up to The Guest House Raleigh. The question is, would I stay here again? I enjoy both the Bed & "Breakfast" when I travel, tough call.

Really well appointed, with lots of well-thought-out small details. Great location, responsive…read morestaff, good amenities.

The hotel had a fun design & pretty decor. The staff was super friendly & welcoming, true southern hospitality, especially the front desk & breakfast attendants. I was told at check-in that Tru was designed by Millennials & the thinking was smaller rooms but bigger common areas for socialization & getting together. That seemed to be true - the common area offered a lot...great lounging space with conversation pits, cute work cubicles, breakfast area, TV, pool table, as well as plenty of tables & chairs. They also offered a free breakfast buffet, serving your typical dishes. The room was clean, bright & stylish. It was small but functional with a big bathroom. There were plenty of places to hang things & a good space for luggage. Lots of lightening too. I appreciated the blackout blinds in the morning as well. Overall, at great stay.

While there have been outstanding hotels, this one, The Residence Inn by Marriott Downtown Raleigh, NC, tops them! From the first moment we walked in the lobby and were greeted warmly, to check out when they acted like they were so happy we'd stayed there..everyone was friendly, kind, and so helpful! The lobby is decorated so nicely! The chandeliers are cool! Each one throughout the hotel is different. We found them in hallways, the restaurant, the lobby, near the elevators..everywhere! Just a cool, chic place! We had breakfast in the Overlook restaurant in the hotel each morning of our stay. Each morning was an all you can eat, buffet style, amazing spread! There were scrambled eggs each morning (we were there for three mornings), but different meats, different types of potatoes, grits, oatmeal, cold cereals, fruits, yogurts, an array of breads, juices, a coffee bar with tea and hot chocolate as well, and soooooo many toppings and spreads to go on anything you want. Our room was very nice, very clean, and the shower is huge! The staff was attentive, both in the restaurant and the hotel as a whole. Our tv went out twice, and both times when we called the front desk, they apologized and sent a tech up to help us. The housekeepers checked in to make sure we had whatever ever we needed; and everywhere we turned there was friendliness. Our hotel was directly across the street from the Martin Marietta theater where we had tickets for a show. So, after a yummy dinner in the Overlook restaurant, we strolled across the street and enjoy an evening with Henry Cho! We walked around downtown, enjoyed a weekend away from home, and felt very safe and secure. We will definitely be back, Residence Inn! We were tickled with the stay and the attention to detail you guys hand out! We will be back, Residence Inn!!

I put it in bed this morning and when I came back to the hotel, it DISAPPEARED. We tried everything to find it in our room, looked everywhere on the floor, in the luggages, in the closet, under the couch and couldn't find it after more than an hour of searching. The front desk said housekeeper DIDN'T touch our bed, which was clearly a lie because a towel which I put on bed last night to prevent menstrual blood on the sheets was also gone. I really wish the police can arrest this housekeeper, except I know it won't happen. PLEASE STEER CLEAR AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE HOTEL WHO STEAL FROM YOU.
