We also each got one free drink at the bar! I do wish there had been a little more Christmas feel in the room itself since there wasn't any holiday decor inside, but the hotel and surrounding area were gorgeous. The park right behind it was lit up beautifully with activities, which made it such a fun place to walk through. Parking unfortunately wasn't great since there were only a handful of spots, so we had to park a bit far away and walk back any time we left. The bed was super comfy and cozy, and room service comes from their restaurant so the food was delicious. The woman at the front desk was incredibly sweet and accommodating, and they also have extras like toothbrushes and other essentials if you forget anything. It is on the pricier side, but if you want to treat yourself for a special occasion, I highly recommend it. We're already talking about making it a tradition.

To 99% of people a suite is defined by a larger space, in hotels, even low-end ones a suite often includes an operate living areas. And in the smallest of hotels it's typical to have a chair, a dest, and in suites it's usually larger and operate from the beds. Ok, this hotel had no desk, no sitting chair, not work area, no seating area at all. No closet. In every sense it was not a suite. The bed, you could hear and feel the springs. Enough about that. Our credit card number was stolen, the only person who saw it or touched it was the front desk. In fact, I never used this card the whole trip other than to check in. Yet I had multiple fake charges that night from all from nearby stores in a town I'd never been in before. Let's keep going. I chose this location because it was close to where I needed to go. However, it was almost double the cost of other brands including Hilton brands nearby which were less expensive and I will be using them in the future. It looks like this was once a nice place, the surrounding grounds are nice, the lobby and lounge area were nice too. It's so sad they have let everything run down and pretend to be a suites hotel when it clearly is not. I found this misleading.

The easy parking and convenience to local establishments are good sells. There is a continental breakfast that I did not take part in, but I did see in action. None of the eaters looked displeased, so I guess that is a good thing. As far as the rooms go, its basic faire with a few peccadilloes thrown in. For instance, in my room, there was a chair that was primed for sitting in and reading. But the standing lamp was placed way on the other side of the room. I'm kind of nitpicking with decor issues like that, but they become big deals should someone wish to...you know, sit and read under a light. Another reviewer mentioned the thin walls? I have to agree, because every time somebody in a nearby room flush the toilet, I heard it. Not the biggest problem, I'm just lucky I wasn't placed next to anybody loud. And speaking of bathrooms, mine had a door that was badly installed, making it very difficult to close as it rubbed against the floor. That's just clown shit. The water pressure was terrible and it never got hot. It could very well have been one of the worst showers I've ever had in my entire life. I'm just about 100% against coming back here for dread of a lame shower experience. However, sleeping was good, with choices between firm and soft pillows. I think the toughest situation I had to deal with was getting online. For some reason, neither my phone nor my laptop were interested in finding the log on page. Fortunately, I carry an old phone just to play games on and it zipped right to the login page. So all I had to do was copy that URL to my other devices. Nobody who worked there knew how to get around this. If I ran the hotel, I'd have that page address written on the hotel wifi instructions sitting right there on the desk. Now that I think about it, my stay was not even "okay." It was merely fair.

One key didn't work so that was a minor irritation. Room was clean and comfortable. Beds were firm and had 4 pillows. Beds have a light blanket so if you are cold natured, you may have to get more blankets. Free breakfast is what you would expect it to be. Cereal, toast, waffles, yogurt, juices, fruit, eggs and link sausage. Eggs were barely passable. Wonder if they were powdered? They weren't very good. Sausage was what you'd expect. Light on the flavor. But it filled the empty spot. Early check out due to graduation ceremony. Nobody at the front desk when We checked out. Kinda annoying so we left our keys in the bin. Three stars for decent accommodations. The breakfast, although technically free, doesn't measure up.

Breakfast is low-quality and management appears to have taken a conscious decision to stop putting it out an hour before close unless guests actively ask for it. The front desk makes a conscious decision not to replenish what is already a paltry spread until someone asks for an item that may or may not be out - an hour before breakfast ends. The wifi is also awful and totally unreliable - you can't do anything online. After checkin, we found our rooms directly across from the elevator. Not only was this unseemingly noisy, but it also started literally raining in our room our first night. Credit to the manager, Mr. Naik, for quickly moving us to another room the following morning. However, his hotel is not up to any known standard that Choice Hotels sets forth. What an incredible disappointment and miserable stay at a shoddy location.

With lowered standards, an average outcome can feel like having a great hand in high stakes poker. Hidden in the back of the middle of Apex (huh?), it's altogether no frills when it comes to checking in. Also, the elevator is small and slow. They gave me a card that didn't work and I felt a pain in my neck upon realizing I'd have to take that sloth-like lift back downstairs for a new card. The entire stay was devoid of bells and whistles, but for $60, I felt like I got more than my money's worth. That is also to say that I got almost nothing in terms of extras. There's no guide for the TV, so unless you've memorized the channels, you're on your own during surfing. And deliveries can't come up to your room, meaning you're back on that damned elevator to get your food. But it had everything I needed and that goes a long way. The fridge worked great and the bathroom was okay with its measly one soap/one toilet paper roll combo. And though the bed was literally six inches away from being a true twin, it was comfy and clean (though I didn't bring my black light with me, so ignorance is bliss.) Like I said, for the money, I think I scored pretty well. But if Oliver Twist were to stay here on some old "Please sir, I want some more" type tip, he'd be heading to bed hungry as hell. Alive, no worse for the wear, but not particularly satisfied in the slightest.

I don't ever remember giving five stars to a hotel before but this place deserved it. Our room had two king beds which is unheard of. It made the room larger than most for adequate space. The hotel is still going through some renovations but our room was clean, the bathroom was spotless, the shower didn't leak and actually had water pressure, the paint job was not sloppy, the mini fridge and microwave worked well, the beds themselves were nice and firm, the hallways were immaculate, and the staff were pleasant. The free breakfasts were fine; one tray of eggs and bacon or sausage, and a small selection of pastries and waffle station. They also had small yogurts and hard boiled eggs. Coffee, tea, and the powdered juices were available. The pool is an outdoor one so it was closed for the season. I don't know if there is a high time for this hotel, but it wasn't crowded at all for the three nights we stayed. One negative I'll mention is for the staffer running the kitchen. You were very nice to all guests, but no one wants to hear you singing along or just listening to "Happy New Year" by ABBA for close to 45 minutes on a loop. I know it was that long because I suffered through it outside of my room in the kitchen area so my family could get ready for the day and timed it. I thought what a pleasant change when Mariah Carey came on with What I Want for Christmas only to be tricked 30 seconds into the song by going back to ABBA for another long hair-pulling set of the same damn song. Get some headphones. About $435 total for three nights. The hotel also is across from a gas station, Arby's, and a Waffle House. It was quiet at night and you could not hear any traffic. If we return again and had to stay at a hotel, this is a great place.
