I've been to Corkshire a few times now and have been impressed with everything including the…read moreselection and quality of the meats and service. I was first drawn to them after calling and finding out they had plate beef ribs to make those "dianasaur ribs" you see on TV. Yep they had them, along with other exotic meats I never thought I'd run into in a small butcher store in northern Alabama. Since then, it's been my go-to store for special event steaks and such where I want something a notch above what we find in the stores. Yes, the pricing is a little higher, but your paying for the quality. Actually it's still a savings compared to what you'd get in a restaurant if you went there for the same steak! I live in Florence and have to travel to get there, but it's worth it. Their service has always been friendly and welcoming each time, so giving them my patronage is also worth it to me to help keep this gem in business!

They take orders of fresh meats and seafoods and can source almost anything fresh: think exotics, thanksgiving turkeys, and in-season seafood. Crown roast of pork is the "fanciest" meat I have ever prepared, and the hubs doesn't eat red meat. That being said, their meat selection is excellent, and the dry aging process is so intriguing to me! Dry aging intensifies flavor and promotes tenderness. The equipment to dry age like Corkshire has is apparently pricy. I was impressed by their price points on nearly everything, beef to seafood! This shop is beyond clean, the staff are friendly and for me, it's just fun to see what's on display in the dry-aging section. I'm excited Corkshire is in our little town and offers exciting options in terms of meats and seafood. Thanks Salty Cod and Corkshire!

Oh my Patrick, you are amazing and so is your amazing locally owned and operated Market. Not only…read moredo you have a wonderful selection of meat, the steak we picked up you cut for us to our desired thickness. So you are looking for a huge steak, or a wicked good deal on chicken breast, or actually those square lunchroom pizzas from your child hood memory, Guess where you go, Patrick's. Yes, crispitos, cheese sticks, Mexican pizza, square pepperoni pizza, you name it, and they have it (unless they are sold out). But don't kid yourself, you really have to come here for the steaks, some of the most tender cut of beef I have ever eaten. All steaks are cut to a 1 inch diameter that is in the meat case, but you can request 2 inch cut or 3 inch cut, whichever your heart desires. And 2 inches of a NY Strip or ribeye with the correct seasoning and grilling method. Amazing! We got to meet Patrick, he was actually the one who asked us if he could help us find anything and shared a little bit about the market. We asked if we could get some steaks cut and he was more than enthusiastic to help us. Our special request and within seconds Patrick's disappears to the back to cut our requested order. Exceptional service, amazing values. They also have a seafood case (we didn't try but almost got some scallops because they look amazing). We will definitely be back,we will drive out of our way to purchase here and get amazing steaks. You are definitely missing out if you don't go here at least once.

Pretty cool that you can buy both in here and I went home with a bottle of wine. I also purchased a dinner that you can take home and cook in the oven. It was a chicken and rice dish that I enjoyed but it didn't say that it was made with smoked chicken so the husband and the kid hated it. The dogs enjoyed their share though. I suggest that if you buy one of the premade meals that you first ask what kind of meat is in it and how it is prepared. I got some fresh chicken breasts which were very nice w no fat on them. I also brought home a peanut butter pie which none of us really cared for. We were pretty disappointed since we love peanut butter pie. I took a picture of the Doux South products that they carry and sent it to my friend who was very happy to see that they have her favorite jarred tomatoes. Overall not a bad store. I will try them again and hope for better luck next time.
