So we have always gotten to-go, which has been underwhelming, but wanted to try Sherry's in person to give them a better overview and rating. It was very quiet when we went on a weekday, and service was fast and friendly! The girls working were so sweet and were successful in getting the line moving. There was a small rush after us in line but overall in the dining area there were 4-5 tables seated by the time we left. Fried chicken I have gotten to go and was soggy previously, but I see it is freshest in person at the line! Seasonings have been changed for the better and all the sides were above average. The peach cobbler was the only side that was an uncertain result for me as the peaches were great but surrounded by nothing but dough, not crust, which I also like some of. Atmosphere was quiet and cozy. Will continue to give them a try here and there to find what I enjoy the best, especially for local biz! read more

I came here on a Tuesday to grab a quick bite. The service is always pleasant & the staff is just nice here. I tried the beef tips & rice for the first time. I also had two veggies ( pinto beans + fried okra). I didn't like the beef tips and rice. This entire dish was bland and the meat was very tough. I absolutely hate buttered rice so all of this was bad. I always enjoy the fried okra here and the pinto beans were good. Overall, Sherry's is a pretty solid meat and three option in Trussville, Alabama. read more

I enjoy a good home cooked southern meal and unfortunately, there isn't many places that offer southern dishes around here. Sherry's Cafe has a great selection of food each day of the week. I'm shocked that I haven't written a review on this place. I went here on a Friday afternoon and they had chicken and dressing as one of the main dishes on the menu. I also got macaroni and cheese and fried okra on the side. The food was delicious and next time I'll ask for an extra protein on the side since I felt like the chicken and dressing they gave me wasn't enough. The service was outstanding and will definitely be back soon. read more

I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and sweet peas. The mashed potatoes had a good flavor to them, and you can go wrong with sweet peas. The meatloaf reminded me of the meatloaf they served when I was in school. Don't get me wrong it was good. It does have a sweet flavor to it if you like that. The gravy for the mashed potatoes was flavorless. I'm glad I got it on the side. This is a decent meat and 3. I will be back to try their other menu items. read more

This cafeteria style restaurant had friendly waitresses, and line server. Today's choices were hamburger steak, chicken breasts, chicken/dressing & fish. We both chose chicken and dressing. I had green beans and lima beans, both needed a bit more seasoning but were still tasty. My husband had okra & Mac n cheese. He thought the Mac n cheese was a bit different with the shredded cheese on top but he still said it was good. He said the fried okra was excellent. We shared slices of chocolate silk and peanut butter pies for dessert. They were both delicious. read more

Food was huge disappointment. Both taste and texture; potatoes were dried out and too heavy on onion. Okra was overdone and crust was greasy. The only thing barely passable was corn. Overall a disappointing experience. read more

I'm pretty good at taking pictures of my food, but at the very moment this cafeteria-style food hit my tray, the thought of taking a pic or two didn't even cross my mind. Let me tell ya, I got the hamburger steak with brown gravy and onions....MY HEART BE STILL. Round it out with perfectly cooked fried okra and a generous portion of macaroni and cheese like grandma used to cook, and BAM! I didn't think food like this existed anymore. Got there round 1:30. Just me and a couple a little ol ladies eating. Wasn't starving so I thought I'd just go with a veggie plate. Got creamed corn, field peas and fried okra. Cornbread and some peach cobbler. Cornbread was cold and VERY crumbly. Couldn't spread any butter on it without it just falling apart in your hand. Cream corn tasted like it came from a can. Field peas and okra probably frozen. Peach cobbler was passable. But I was willing to overlook these thing (even though it's all served in styrofoam cups and plates which I find to be extremely annoying.) But the kicker was when I went to pay for it. They had their prices posted on the wall by the register. I noticed a 3 veggie plate went for 5.43. I had 4 veggies so I was expecting maybe $7 or so. When she told me I owed 10.78 I nearly fell out. What??!! When I expressed my disappointment at the price, I was told to "talk to Sherry". I informed her that that was not how it works. She had the gall to ask me if I wanted to take a menu with me. LOL! As I told her.....I am ONE and DONE with this place. Why do people think they can open a restaurant and charge "fine dining" prices but serve cheap product on cheap plates. Sherry's is pretty good. I have my favorite dishes, of course. The Awesome Skaw is delicious. Fried (boneless) chicken breast, sweet potato casserole, pot roast, and salmon coquettes are some of my favorites. The fried green tomatoes and okra are really good. In the winter they serve beef stew -great with her cornbread muffins. read more

Sadly I will not be back here. The food and service is just not good! I got a piece of fried chicken - breading was crumbling off. Green beans had no flavor, creamed corn was runny like water had been added to it. The veggie casserole was just not good. I asked for the fresher looking side of the serving dish... it looked like old had been dumped on top of it. I'm no cook but I can definitely make a better veggie casserole, hands down! The okra was crunchy enough but I felt like it was probably frozen. I had tea to drink. SO, for a boneless piece of chicken breast, green beans, creamed corn, fried okra, veggie casserole, a roll, and tea it was $19.25... definitely highway robbery! I left a small cash tip because the service was terrible. My server checked back once on me after I'd gotten up and gotten my own to-go container for the left over chicken & okra (for that price I'm not leaving anything!) and the bag to carry them in. The person at the register (maybe the owner) was most unpleasant... no greeting, no how was it, nothing... she ignores you for a bit until she decides she's ready to ring you up. She did the same to the person in front of me. This is only the 2nd time I've been in but I definitely won't be back. No clue how they manage to stay in business with the food & service being so bad. AND, they serve food on Styrofoam plates and in Styrofoam bowls... claiming they cannot get a dishwasher. Well, buy more dishes and wash them all at the end of the night! Styrofoam so not cool! I feel bad for the elderly folks who go there because it's convenient and because there's no other decent meat & 3 in town. I love Sherry's Cafe, I go there alot and the food is very good and the portions are generous. I had a small party at my house and ordered the food from Sherry's. I ordered a chicken casserole and fried chicken and awesome slaw and a couple of other items. The food was hot when it was picked up and was wrapped very well so there were no spills. Everyone there thought it was a great idea to order take out from Sherry's and everyone enjoyed the food. I would definitely do this again. Thanks to Sherry and Karen!! read more

My buddy and I who are both in the military ate at this restaurant on Veterans Day. One of the workers asked if we were in the military as we walked up to pay our bill. Of course we said yes. I asked the cashier woman how much our ticket was going to be. The response was "if you use your eyes and read the menu, the prices are on there". I laughed it off in order not to create a scene. As we were paying our bill she told us "if y'all were wearing your military uniforms I could give you a discount, but I can't because you're not in uniform". I went on to explain how we're not allowed to wear our uniforms in public unless under certain circumstances. I proceeded to show her my military Identification to ensure I was in the military, but was rudely rejected and told I'm not getting a discount because I'm not in uniform. I don't know her name, all I know was her father was in the Air Force. I will not be returning to this disrespectful place anymore. I've never felt compelled to leave a review like this, but still a few weeks after Veterans Day it bothers me. It bothers me because if she was rude in that way to us, she was rude in the same way to other veterans who had been to war and came back. A message to the owner of Sherry's: Your place of business is disrespectful. Although I'm sure not all employees are rude like this woman was, she represents your business and did a very poor job. I don't know why you have this rule in place, "you must be in uniform in order to get a military discount". In all honesty I don't care about the discount. We don't wear our uniforms to get a few bucks knocked off our meal. We wear the uniform the fight our enemies. I want you to look a WW2 veteran in the eyes and tell him he can't have a discount because he isn't in his uniform from the 1940's. I want you to look a combat veteran in the eyes as he wheels up to your register with no legs and tell him he can't have a discount because he's not in the uniform that was burned off his body. Your place of business has offended me and I will ensure many people in this town reads this review. It makes me sick to think about how likely it was for other veterans that ate there on that day to be disrespected like we were. read more

The address is correct, so just type it into a map app. I've eaten lunch here a few times a year over the last several years. It's always great each time! If you're in Trussville, it's a great family-owned meat and three. I love the fried chicken, the fried green tomatoes, and the fried okra (yes, I know there's a pattern!). The green beans, peas, rolls, and corn bread are also great! The only thing that's not good is the macaroni and cheese - it just doesn't have much flavor and is sometimes a little cold. They also usually have a few dessert specials, like cobblers, that are wonderful! The menu is different each day, but it always has tons of options. Sherry's doesn't have the same charm or history that some of the big meat and threes have in downtown Birmingham, but the employees are super nice and the food's always good! It's definitely one of the better options in Trussville. read more

This place was really good. Good homemade southern food. I had fried chicken, Okra, Mashed Potatoes with brown gravy and some macaroni and cheese. I certainly could not eat it all but I wanted a good sampling of what was offered. Food is served cafeteria style with a tray and a line in the back. Went there for lunch .it's not bad. Probably the best meat n veggie in the area. If you don't mind driving, nicki's on Finley is the place to go for veggies. I got beef tips w /rice, fried okra and creamed corn.angie got meatloaf, mashed potatoes w/gravy and green beans. The food was good but sometimes it can be a little bland.i guess because of the older crowd that eats there. I really had to dope up the cream corn,though. Meat and 2 will cost you $8.25.
