Yes, there is fresh produce, baked goods (a line about a block long for one particular vendor), and all sorts of things you absolutely did not plan to buy. But the real hidden gem is the free people watching. It is top tier. You will see stylish shoppers, not so stylish shoppers (yours truly) sleepy parents, tiny children weaving through the crowd like they pay taxes, and dogs who clearly believe this entire event was organized for them personally. The whole place has a fun, happy energy, and even if you came only for tomatoes, you will leave with a pastry, three unnecessary purchases, and at least one strong opinion about someone's hat. Also, pro tip: bring your kitchen knives to be sharpened while you shop. Nothing says "productive weekend" like artisan bread, fresh peaches, and a newly dangerous chef's knife.

I'm a huge fan of local honey (I grew up with parents who were into beekeeping and extolled the virtues of local honey) and of a good, natural beeswax lip balm. Imagine my delight when City Bee offered both! The lip balm is so yum: peppermint-rosemary scented that easily trumps a certain well-known brand with yellow packaging. Further, their city honey is sublime: not at all floral and has a very distinct taste that encapsulates our fair city well.
