I have tried some of the newer $$$$ seafood restaurants( bc my son wanted to go ) but I have always left disappointed. The fish market gets your food out hot & they do have great service , (this is why they're still in business.) I've been eating here at least 30 years - I like the casual ambiance & the oysters are to die for . In my humble opinion, this is the only place to get reliably great seafood ( & it has reasonable prices)

We were seated promptly handed menus and about 30 seconds later approached by the waitress for drink orders. We asked for a drink menu as there was nothing to advertise what drinks they were serving. She returned with 1 drink menu for all 3 of us and stood there waiting until we decided. We asked for some time so she left and returned about 2 mins later. We ordered drinks and she returned 2 mins later to take our food order. We ordered appetizers, salad and main courses. The drinks came quickly, the salads came right after and then about 3 mins later, the appetizers came out. 3 mins after that, the main courses arrived so we had plates stacked everywhere on the table and quickly tried to finish our salads and appetizers before the main dish got cold. The waitress never returned to the table until she brought the bill. The plates were all cleared by someone else. We saw her leave a bill at the table next to us and wait until they checked it over and figured out a payment method, so when she arrived at our table we just handed her a credit card. The food was average but the overall experience was terrible. I realize she was probably new and this may have been her first night but some training would go a long way! For $180 dinner, we expected a lot more.

This place is beautiful. It is located in the Stadium Trace shopping center between Alabama Goods and Grimaldi's. When you walk in, it gives a tropical vibe with the decor. You feel the relaxation wash over you. I went to the cashier and she asked for my name. My food was ready right on time, and I grabbed my bottle of Sprite from the front cooler before I headed back to work. I got back to the office and dug into the bowl. The flavor was bright and fresh. The creaminess of the avocado and that extra "crunch" texture helped to tie the flavors tighter together. Everything tasted really good. I will be back to this place soon to try some other bowl combinations. Keep being delicious, Ono Poke!!

This Hoover location is convenient to I-459, but the shopping area it is located in seems to lack sufficient parking spaces for the volume of people who come to all the restaurants at peak hours. But at non-peak times, parking is not an issue. And this Ono Poke has a cute little outdoor seating area that will be nice when the weather cools down some. The interior is very trendy and modern, selfie-friendly. They do have high chairs, and changing tables in both rest rooms. The service is friendly, but sometimes the servers don't always know the details about what they're serving. My go-to is the spicy tuna poke, and I load up my bowl with a ton of toppings and finish it with wasabi aioli. I don't usually add a side dish as the poke bowl is very filling on its own. But this time, I decided to try the gyoza and the fries, since I was with friends who could share with me. The gyoza was pretty good, perfectly fried to a light and crispy texture, with a tasty chicken filling. I don't think the spicy mayo that it is served with actually complements the gyoza well, so I ordered ponzu sauce instead, which went nicely. The fries were well-cooked as well, but the furikake seasoning is just sprinkled on top so doesn't really add too much to the flavor. Now here, the spicy mayo was a good complement, but needed a higher ratio of sriracha sauce to mayo. My friends had never been to Ono Poke before, and they very much enjoyed their bowls. Everyone left full and happy.

This Cousins food truck is from Birmingham and has been to the Fly Wheel craft brewery a few times in the last year. The staff seem like a nice crew, always friendly. The lines have been usually very long but on this cold Saturday (15 degrees) the line was short, but remained consistent. The menu is short but good. We got the Maine and Connecticut versions, lobster tots, clam chowder, shrimp taco, and some whoopie pies (I know, I know but my wife doesn't like lobster, before you start thinking "what a fat a..", our daughter was home for weekend, the other lobster roll was hers, though I'd happily eaten both rolls). Lot of comments about being pricey, but it's cheaper than at any restaurant, and the portions are the same, so prices are about right if not on the cheap side. The rolls were very good, my daughter and I preferred the warm buttery Connecticut version. The taco was also good but probably be better with lobster. The clam chowder was delicious, with large chunks of clam. The tots paired well with the rolls and the taco and contained a good amount of lobster. Most people get it to go and leave but some stay and dine in the brewery which has a few long tables. They also have a nice stone patio with a fire place to warm up. When they're in town you should really pick up some lobster rolls for a nice lunch or dinner.
