I was not disappointed in my impulsive decision to eat here. I ordered the veggie tofu bowl. I wasn't expecting much to be honest but this was the best bowl I've ever had! The flavors were outrageously divine. I typically can't eat spicy foods and this had a bit of a kick. Normally, I would have stopped after the first couple of bites. It was so good though my brain ignored my tongue's pleas to stop eating such deliciousness. I'm not sure what all was in this bowl but it was dangerously addictive as I had to talk myself out of ordering another one! I highly recommend.

But I finally gave them a try and I'm glad I did. I got the lava bowl - seaweed, edamame, ginger (I love me some ginger), tobiko, jalapenos, and lava sauce. I chose ahi tuna as my protein and brown rice as my base, which helped cool off the spiciness of the dish. I do wish it would have come with a drink, but that's ok. I might omit the jalapenos next time, but overall, it was a great dish, and I would definitely order it again. I am sad I waited so long to give this place a try, and will definitely be back!

I was really curious to try the only Korean Hot Pot restaurant here in the Hoover/Birmingham area…read more It was alright; I think because I've had so many really good hot pot experiences growing up, I held my expectations here a bit steady. But I think it's great that they have a place like this here. So, the menu is limited, but it is great for a novice hot pot customer because they won't be overwhelmed. There is only one type of noodles you can get (glass noodles), and only a few selections of red meat and vegetables. But hey, I won't complain, because you can't get it elsewhere. The meat I received were super fatty. There were some when the fat was around 80% of the meat itself. Veggies were good! They have a bar of sauces and other foods you can get and add to your hot pot. Broth was fine, it wasn't anything particular to rave about. The service was great - people were so friendly and nice. They tended to us pretty well. The ambience was really cool! They have screens around the restaurant that play K-pop music videos, which was a super cool touch. 5/5 for the ambience.

The decor is very modern with lot of technology around. As soon as we sat the waiter was happy to explain how the menu worked. My boyfriend and I both did the kbbq and he did the hot pot as well. We really enjoyed the option to try to many different foods. They aren't stingy with the portions at all. They do have seasonings you can pick up but we realized a lot of the meat is pre marinated. We will definitely be back with a smaller group. Having so many people at the table did feel a little crowded.

They have multiple seating options; the first floor has booths that can accommodate smaller and large groups. The bar area is very inviting and fun to be able to watch your drinks being made and upstairs offers a more private area. When not seated at the bar they do have someone to come around to make sure you have what you need. The servers are very nice and tend to remember you, which is a great feeling. The menu rotates seasonally, which makes it easier to try new things. My favorite menu item so far has been the cheeseball that was on the menu around Christmas time. It had a great flavor served with crackers the only thing is when we came back after the first of the year it wasn't on the menu anymore. On my most recent visit I had the queso which also had great flavor, served with blue corn tortilla chips. When it comes to the drinks I like how on the menu they let you know how strong it is using toucans. Many of the drinks feature rum, but they do still offer some gin and tequila options. Everything I've had has been good and something I would try again. I would like to note that many of the drinks are fruity and can be somewhat sweet. At Christmas time they even had holiday themed drinkware which I felt was a nice touch. If you are not a drinker, they also have options for mocktails. Which has been great for me the last couple of months. I didn't care for the Phony Negroni, but I think Negroni itself might be an acquired taste

And of course they had me at poke bowls. It's one of my top 5 things to eat, honestly. But I ordered a Buddha bowl because it's almost the same thing and I felt a little lazy to DIY (not to mention, the Buddha bowl looked tantalizing!) They have other veg options, but I set my sights on that bowl as soon as the friendly counter guy suggested it. It's overloaded with goodness--avocado, deliciously marinated tofu, edamame (yes, it's a protein-rich bowl), tomatoes, shredded carrots, diced cucumbers, greens and more. You're literally devouring the rainbow here, friends. For drinks, they have a modest but decent selection of beer, wine (a decent bubbly in a can!) and sake in addition to soft drinks. The place is so beautiful (and spotlessly clean) with plants dangling from the ceiling and beautiful murals throughout. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd be here all the time.

Every time I go, the food tastes super fresh, which is something I really pay attention to. Nothing feels heavy or overly processed; it's just clean, simple, and really good. I usually build my own bowl with brown rice, cucumber, edamame, crab, avocado, and either salmon or shrimp depending on what I'm feeling. I always get the samurai sauce on the side so I can control how much I add. The combination is so good, and everything tastes fresh and flavorful together. The staff is always quick and efficient, which makes it a great option when you're in a rush but still want something healthy. The restaurant itself is also very clean and has a nice, simple atmosphere. Overall, I'd give Ono Poke 5 stars. It's one of my go-to spots when I want something fresh, filling, and actually makes me feel good after eating.

We took advantage of their 2-for-1 deal on regular-size poke bowls and loaded them up with raw salmon, raw ahi tuna, cooked shrimp, and nearly every available free add-on. The bowls were excellent -- fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. Even as a big eater, I was more than satisfied with the regular size. The 2-for-1 special easily stretched into several meals, making it an outstanding value. The seaweed salad and fried gyoza were also delicious and made for the perfect sides.
