We live in Tampa and happened to be on this side of town. First time at this Place and was pretty impressed with the Food. We had Breakfast for Lunch. I got the Feta Omelet and partner got Western Omelet. Had Grits and Hash Browns on side with Rye Toast. That Omelet was Phenomenal !! So Fluffy and Light. Full of Vegetables. And ...you did not need extra salt. The Hash Browns cooked just the way I like !! Tea is Just Right, not Southern Sweet but just Right. For those who complained it ain't seaweed enough, it is Sweet Enough . Thanks for an Amazing Lunch. And Please be Patient, they have an Amazing Cook and 2 Wonderful and Smiling Ladies running the Show. If you're in a Hurry, pass on by cause we don't need that mess. Stepped in at 9:30, by 9:32 the server had given the warmest welcome and taken my coffee order! The coffee was a little weak; more like tea than coffee in flavor profile. Ordered the western omelet with home fries and white toast. The service was fantastic! The best part of the meal. The price point is excellent! My portion of the bill was roughly $12. By now I'm a regular and I've downed everything on the menu that's gf - which is a lot for sensitive folks in fact, more than enough! I love to hear the clergymen in prayer in the back room, and the regulars with their polite nods of acknowledgment remind you where you are. The community outreach is deeper than can be spotted in just one visit since good deeds are done so silently behind the scenes. The consistency and flavors still cannot be beat for the price as they insist on undercharging seniors while egg prices continue to go straight up. Tipping decent and participating in toys 4 tots and school supply drives seems the best way to support these peeps. Carpet dining forever! I came to Holiday, FL for vacation. We wanted something close to our Airbnb and found The Broken Yolk. It's a small place - a simple diner. Nothing special about it. We were seated quickly. We got our coffee first, which I found very weak, almost like watered-down. They didn't have flavored creamers. We ordered just an omelet with a two-egg breakfast. We waited 35 to 40 minutes for our food. The place didn't seem to be too busy. The food was just OK. This place is not for me and we won't be coming back. read more

There are a lot of locally owned restaurants here, and I just think you can do better finding one. The food is ok, definitely not fancy, in fact just ok. The service was for the most part, satisfactory. Nothing outstanding. The ambiance is bad. Imagine a restaurant from 1972, that hasn't been updated since. Now, add an occasional dead bug on the floor that's still there a week or so later. I just wonder how clean the kitchen is and if the health department in the state of Florida ever does inspections. Add to this the obnoxious odor that's near the entrance. Grease trap maybe? I don't know. As I said earlier, there are a large number of restaurants in the area. The in-laws like diners. I'm not sure why, but they do. Anyway... this is definitely a diner. The atmosphere is sad and badly in need of Restaurant Impossible. The server was amazing. She was acting as hostess and waitress for the whole place and doing it well; she was definitely harried but kept her cool (hence the two stars; if it had been poor service, I'd have given it one star). They have zero gluten-free options. When I asked the server about gluten intolerance, she said, "I've heard of it." I had been going to ask questions about the menu, but given that response, I immediately changed tactics. I've been gluten-free for a long time, so I ordered some generally safe options: the sirloin steak (that night's special) with coleslaw. There was pudding for dessert. Solid no frills breakfast spot with a lot of options and always a full cup of coffee. The decor is definitely not anything notable, but it's clearly a small, family owned business with TV's donated by some boat company (as they are noted). I've never been for dinner, but gone a few times with my parents for breakfast which they love to do and find the quality of food and service pretty consistent. They've got specials posted on a white board. I got a veggie omelet, so a good filling omelet, toast, and home fries for like $6? What's not to like? There's not a lot of seating and the tables are pretty close, but I've never had an issue waiting on a table or bumping into someone. read more

This was probably the -worst- day to come and check them out, so I will have to come back again. Why was it the worst day? Their gas was being fixed. We stuck around anyway. I ordered one of the quiches and mom got the chicken salad. I have to say that the chicken salad was tasty - she let me have a bite. It was served with a luscious piece of cantaloupe and some seedless watermelon. I had the ham and cheese quiche. Honestly, I wasn't impressed, I know it was re-heated with a microwave and due to the heat being out, it wasn't the best it could have been. This is a cute little place, but it's old. I've had the breakfast and lunch here the chicken salad and tuna salads are the reason this place is getting 3 stars! Otherwise the other food is very bland, I got biscuits and gravy, sadly the gravy was so tasteless threw it away. (The biscuits were nicely toasted on both sides from what I saw and were kind of crispy which was a nice touch but BLAND!!) corned beef hash tasted from a can (my fault for ordering it should have known better). I've ordered just chicken salad on the side 2 scoops and was charged over 12$. Little expensive so FYI don't get scoops of anything on the side they're RIDICULOUS!! It's a hit of miss with their other food I guess but the salads are on point!! read more

My husband and I have been planning to visit this place, and so glad we did. I love that it feels homey and getting a deliciously cooked meal. Our server Tamara was so wonderful and knowledgeable. The Yelp community has not been very kind to this particular restaurant, but I have to admit that I really like it. It's got a greasy spoon, Diner type vibe with inexpensive, non experimental American fare. So far I have tried various omelets, sandwiches and the Greek salad. I haven't had a bad meal yet, and the service is always fast and friendly. We obviously live close to Tarpon Springs, so Greek salads are pretty common around these parts, and I would say that there's a slightly better-than-average. I do make a modification to it though by adding a grilled chicken breast. I know that's not standard practice for most, but to me if there's no meat involved it's not a meal, it's a snack. I look forward to many more inexpensive meals here. read more

food was eh. only went for mimosas for my friends 23rd birthday. server denied me a drink and told me I was under 21 even though I showed her a valid id... weird. think she just read it wrong at first and then got nervous but I told her she could scan it.. its real lol. she then told me she had to check w the manager so we waited patiently for him/her to come speak w me about it and they never did. she only came to the table three times the whole meal. first to get our drinks, second to drop back off my id and said the manager said no (never spoke or saw him/her) and the other to drop off the bill. another lovely lady came to refill my mothers coffee, and someone else brought out food who was kind. makes me sad this was not an enjoyable experience as I work in the restaurant industry myself as a server so I know it can get hectic and maybe she was super busy and misread it but I will not be returning. wish y'all the best. *****(Update: while going through my camera roll deleting old photos I found a video of a small bug/roach we saw and totally forgot to include. Had a great omelette and breakfast here a few years ago so I came back. Not making that mistake again! I ordered an omelette with sausage, cheddar, spinach, & mushrooms. It looked good, but after 2 bites of the end with mostly egg and 1 bite with everything in it, I started feeling very sick to my stomach. I got my check and told the waitress the problem. The owner was insulted, but I'm a RN and if something doesn't taste right and the food makes you feel sick you don't eat anymore of it. Now I am sitting in my car dry heaving and trying not to get physically sick. The owner said I ate too much and only gave me back 50% off my omelette price. We moved to the area a little over a month ago and we're really sad about leaving our old breakfast dinner spot. Thankfully, we found this place just a few days after moving and it does not disappoint! The service is quick for pick up, staff is very friendly, and prices are super affordable. Large portions and the food is pretty good. I was so happy to find that they served hash browns, aside from home fries, and they were so crispy and delicious. The eggs for omelettes or scrambled eggs are the liquid eggs, so keep that in mind if you don't like that. I usually get mine over easy to avoid that but if I'm in the mood for an omelette, I get it anyways because they're big and still very tasty. I've had the French toast and the waffles, both great and fluffy. I highly recommend this local spot, it's close to my house and I feel great about supporting local small businesses VS big chains like dennys or ihop. read more

First time here this morning for Mother's Day brunch. We called ahead and made sure they had a table available. We were seated immediately but it took probably 10 minutes to even get a drink order. Another 5 after that probably before getting a food order. Food took about 45 minutes to come out and my order was missing the bacon. Food was good and servers were relatively friendly but service and communication were extremely lacking. Another customer actually caused a scene while we were there because it was taking so long for food to come out. Maybe just understaffed? Wouldn't recommend. read more

Went there today and was extremely disappointed and upset at the lack of professionalism and customer service. Sat down was served coffee and then watched other people come in after us and place their order. Still no one came to take our order. When someone finally did we advised the waitress that no one has taken our order yet and the other customers came in after us. The waitress with an attitude said "no one told her and what do you want". We got up and left.
