I tried coffee and a sandwich at The Bridge Café while visiting a few friends in Upland. It's small but cozy and bright on the inside, with several types of seating options - a high top counter, tables, and chairs / couch. They even have a kid play kitchen in the corner, which is a thoughtful addition for families. It's such a charming environment! They have a wall with rotating local art, featured items from small businesses, and live plants all around. I had an Italian BLT and Frosted Cranberry Latte and loved both of my orders. Ciabatta bread can be a little heavy for my taste, but the fresh greens, tomato, and pesto mayo helped balance it out nicely. The sandwiches come with Broad Ripple Chips on the side. I was on the fence with getting a drink, but the latte menu sounded so wonderful that it enticed me. The Frosted Cranberry was a delicious choice, on the sweeter side but well balanced between the cranberry and white chocolate flavors. I would absolutely recommend The Bridge when passing through or visiting Upland. It may be a little wait for your food on a busy day, but it's a lovely space to sit and enjoy while you wait. read more

Thanks Yelp! I would never have found this place without your assistance and recommendations. This nondescript building is setback off Main Street with a small parking lot in front. Fortunately they have a sign near the road and a flat gray sign over the door. If it was me, I would have bright colors and flashing lights pointing the way. This was really good! The interior has a variety of tables in the central dining area with little pocket lounges on either side. There's even a library of books rising to the ceiling on the right. I placed my order at the counter (they have a bell to cling for service if the person who manages the counter is in back.) I was greeted and asked if I wanted something from the all day breakfast menu or something more suited to a later meal. She offered to make some suggestions once she found it was my first visit. I went with the Chicken Salad Sandwich which came on a croissant that was light and flaky, but sturdy enough to hold the ingredients that included greens. The chicken was cooked properly and the taste was delicious. I got Broad Ripple Chips along with the sandwich and those were crunchy and tasty too. The wait time was minimal (maybe 10 minutes), so I was soon devouring my meal and ready to go. Note that if you are interested in simply having water, they have a self serve dispenser and jar type glasses on the end of the counter. They also have a variety of teas and coffees for those who are interested. I found the staff and the interior to be inviting, much like you would find at a nice coffee house, but with some small town charm. I would gladly dine here again when I'm in the area. Upland is a small town. Like, really small (population less than 4,000). So it is so wonderful to have a place like the Bridge where I can count on a warm, relaxed vibe, great sustainable coffee and locally-sourced food, and an always-delightful assortment of local artisanry to browse and/or buy from. My ONLY niggle is that they sometimes they seem to struggle to keep up when things get busy. But if you're patient, it is worth the wait! Proud to be a regular at the Bridge! read more

The ambience is so cute and welcoming! So far I've gotten baked oatmeal with fruit compote, banana strawberry smoothie, and croissant bacon sandwich. The oatmeal and smoothie are so good, but the croissant sandwich was not great. They didn't have much bacon or eggs so it was basically like a croissant. I've been there three times and twice they forgot to give me my smoothie and when I asked about it they apologized for forgetting the order, but still didn't start it for a while. Great coffee shop with a great atmosphere! The source most things locally, from their greens to the barbecue sauce. The menu is small, but used to be more limited. Now they have multiple kinds of burgers and even pulled pork, both of which are excellent. My wife really enjoys the Green Goddess sandwich, and she loves the gluten free items they have. You could tell the greens were fresh and the chicken in the chicken salad wasn't canned or anything. I'm not quite sure what made the salad South African, but it was tasty. After eating mostly onion rings and deep fried stuff, this was definitely a nice change. My husband is a vegetarian and it was nice to have good veggie options. I was in town for a youth conference at Taylor University. As someone who typically drinks espresso 2-3 times a week I was coming in from Seattle I was thinking I would be stuck with what a consider sub-par Starbucks espresso, but was super happy to find this awesome coffee shop that was able to meet my Americano needs. The espresso was a lighter roast and was fairly tasty. All the food looked tasty, but I abstained. The environment was cozy and inviting and they typically had folksy/easy-going jams playing on the stereo, and if I was a student at the university I would probably be studying here on a regular basis. This isn't the type of coffee shop to go to if you're in a rush, but if you have a little time and want to enjoy the quietness of Uptown, this is definitely the place for you. read more

From the outside, you'd never expect the cozy vibe inside this place. High ceilings, wooden ladder, piano and lots of shabby chic. Very inviting! When we stepped up to the counter to order, we were greeted by the friendly manager, who told us the place has been open 4 years and is owned by a woman from South Africa whose husband worked for Taylor U. The dinner menu is small but we had difficulty picking from it because everything looked good. Three of us had burgers and one a club sandwich. Everyone was delighted! Drove almost four hours from central Illinois to come to a baby shower hosted at The Bridge Cafe. The hostess of the baby shower lives on the East coast. When she planned this event she had no idea the type of place she had chosen. She said she just crossed her fingers and hoped it turned out well. This place was amazing. They closed down for a few hours to host our event and what a great time it was. They provided both sweet and savory items for the ladies along with coffee, water, and bottled juices. I tried two items that I enjoyed very much. The first was a blueberry scone that was very good. The biscuit was just the way I enjoy a scone, dry but not crumbly with the blueberries adding a perfect amount of sweetness. The second was a pepper and cheese (feta) souffle that I wish I was close enough to enjoy it again. If I lived in Upland this would be where I would take my little girls for a lovely mommy/daughter lunch. I would also spend a great deal of time here just enjoying the relaxed, quiet atmosphere with a hot drink, a lovely plate of goodies and a good book. Thank you for a lovely day. read more

Food here is unique a bit high cost but well prepared. This is the type you would expect inalarger city but it appears to being doing very well. there's little i don't like about the bridge. the music is calming. the homemade local goods for sale are a nice touch. i love that sustainability seems to be a priority, in ensuring that the food is as local and fresh as can be and that the employees are paid a living wage. i love the vegan options, which can be incredibly hard to find in rural indiana. they also have specials and deals, and the employees are always friendly. read more
