Stopped in on Sunday afternoon and it was super quiet. It was much bigger than I expected with a wide variety of seating options. Plus darts and pool. Had great service, including and employee noticing someone had followed us in to ask us to buy them food and quickly addressed it. The burger was decent. The steak empanadas were amazing. Fries are very unique. A little chip-fry marriage with good flavor. The apple pie empanadas did come out a little dark on the edges. Went for a night to celebrate a friend's birthday. The drinks are fantastic and being able to make a wide variety of cocktails is definitely a plus, but the noise level really sucked. Standing right next to someone and not being able to hear them isn't ideal or fun. I understand that it was closer to peak late bar time, but my hearing was muffled even after leaving. So I have been to Milwaukee a few times now and it's truly a wonderful place. However, this was this first time I heard about Water Front Brewery. I stumbled across this little gem off the beaten path and to my surprise the beer is phenomenal. We were served by two wonderful ladies Elle and Trinity, who explained to us the history of the brewery and walked us through the great beers they had on tab and for purchase to-go. The place looks very historic on the outside and can definitely be misleading. But when you walk in, boy did they do a great job making this bar come alive. Now we weren't able to stay long enough for the live music but I'm sure it only added to the great beers they serve. If you are in Milwaukee please stop in for a beer. This is a great bar with great food in the daytime. The manager EV was very kind when ordering and working with the staff everyone is very friendly and smiles, and the food is phenomenal. The chicken tenders are something to die for. The pizzas are also very good. However, when it is a warm summer night in Milwaukee, Wisconsin The restaurant, then turns into a bar with mostly middle to younger aged kids, this is one of my favorite bars and all of Milwaukee. This would be a good place to bring picky eaters as everyone will surely be able to find something they like. We tried a ton of different options including chicken skewers, fries, loaded tater tots, sliders, and chicken tikka masala. The food was all pretty good! Probably not 5 star worthy but definitely better than expected for a brewery/pub. Ambiance is a little mixed. Dining area seems modern/trendy. The server, who was clearly disinterested in serving delivered our flat sodas and informed us if we wanted more we can feel free to go to the bar for refills. Apparently my attempt ask a question sparked her flight or fight response so she fluttered off mid-sentence. The whole QR ordering system and blasting music added to the dystopia experience. I've lived in mke for 6 years and had never been here and now after the renovations my friends love this place and are always trying to go. It has a small dance floor, plenty of seating, large bar that you don't have to wait long for a drink. It does seem the crowd is slightly older than fresh out of college. I walked in and lowered my expectations as I seen a "seat yourself" sign and had to scan to order. Then faster than I could process the actual charm of the place, my drinks arrived. I had the Honey Lager, it was a spectacularly brewed beer. My fiancée had a passion star martini and I thought it was lovely (I'm not a fruit drink guy). Food was decent. You order from your table from a QR code which is fine. But you can't keep a running tab open. So every time you want to order another drink or add on to your bill, you have to re-open a tab and close it. There are food runners to bring the food out but then never come back to clear plates after appetizers, etc. Or after your first round of beverages. So the table ends up quite full. It seems like they are going through some kinks, hoping they figure out some of the service issues and are able to adjust the payment system so you're not constantly opening and closing tabs from your table. read more

I am beyond disappointed by this establishment. We were out for the Milwaukee st patty bar crawl and wanted to have app and drinks at The Brewery to cap out afternoon off. We are walking into the establishment and the bouncer looks at one of our friend and says "your a liability, no entry". He would not explain himself or his reasoning behind the statement. I would like first explain the bar was letting in plenty of other members from the bar crawl into their establishment that were heavily intoxicated. Again we were coming to the brewery for apps and drink to end our day. The bartender denies our friend entry and refuses to give reasoning behind his decision. I don't have a problem with his decision but I have a problem with his disrespect for letting 1 person out of our 8 group party into the establishment without reasoning. Not one server came over and took my order and I'm sitting there looking at all em them trying to make eye contact and they start going to serve people who came to the bar after me......2 of the bartenders took shots with a guy and I'm just still looking. I rarely write negative reviews but water street certainly earned one. First the good. It's a cool place. Classic old Milwaukee vibes with a modern brewery feel. Not too crowded or loud even during dinner time on a holiday weekend. Nice diverse selection on food for a crowd. And a decent drink menu. Unfortunately that's where the good ends. I ordered an old fashioned and it came back with 2 bugs (!!!!)floating in it. The waitress quickly brought a new one once I pointed it out (no comped drink), but it's a little hard to trust the cleanliness replacement drink - or anything being served for that matter. Add that to the little 6oz glass they serve cocktails in and I figured I'll save my $10 for something larger and bug-free In the future. My girlfriend got the chicken schnitzel which was actually decent. Well prepared with creative sides and good flavor. I got the Wisconsin hot chicken sandwich, which was probably one of the poorest sandwiches I've ever had. I was expecting a subtle fried chicken sandwich in a Nashville hot chicken style. Instead It's a huge chicken breast dipped in a low rate buffalo sauce between two pieces of Texas toast. Probably 6" tall so it's truly impossible to eat. I end up taking it apart and just having to eat the components individually. Was it the worst sandwich I've ever had? No. But it was, Poorly executed, unbalanced, and it ended up with half of it being left on the plate. Save your money and go to one of the other 40 breweries in town. I love micro brews. I love even more going to restaurants that make their own beer on site and have decent food. Water Street hits it with great food and great beer. Stopping in during the dinner hour on a weeknight, the hostess brought me to an out of the way table where I could surf away on my laptop using their wifi. The waiter took some convincing that yes, they do have a free wifi and he went off to ask someone for the password. I started with the beer sampler, which has eight small glasses of beer ranging from their darkest to their lightest. A great idea if you're not sure what you want or you'd just like a refresher course of different beers. I was reminded that I don't care for stouts and I really don't like fruit beers - the raspberry weiss was the only one I didn't finish. With seven empty glasses, I asked the waiter to bring me a proper serving of their honey lager, the one I liked the most. With the beer order complete, I requested their hummus mezzo platter. A huge amount of food, which was slightly unfortunate because their burgers looked excellent too. I'd recommend this as a share for two or even three people. A few felafel, a large bowl of hummus and feta cheese and tzatziki and plenty of pitas for dipping. Delish with the beer and easy to eat while surfing on a laptop. This one was within walking distance of Old World 3rd Street and given the rain & temps, an easy choice. It's not going to affect the number of stars but the layout of this place sucks. We were seated in the booth area where these steel graded cross-hatched plates create incomplete views of the restaurant. There is no ambiance here. Getting to what's really important, the food here is decent. I had the Water Street club and a side of fries. The sandwich was pretty good, the fries were intolerable. My wife got the Brew Tons, which are large, tasty won-tons filled with chicken, scallions and cheese with red pepper ans aioli sauce on the side. Those suckers are good! My son ordered a basic cheese pizza which was also pretty tasty considering it came off the kids menu. I only had room for one beer and choose the special Pumpkin Ale. Decent..but nothing to write home about. I'm at three and a half stars here. Prices are a tad high for what you get. Cheers. read more

My husband and I, along with 4 other awesome folks, were in town for the Eric Church Concert on Friday, 3/29. My husband travels quite a bit for work, and he *thought* he'd been here before, so we called a Lyft, and came in. We were sat quickly (luckily arriving juuuuust before the Friday dinner smash), and a server got our drink order right quick. We all ordered our food - 4 burgers of some sort, 1 patty melt, and I went with the Korean beef tacos. Our food came out WAY. FAST. Sometimes a concern, so I was initially a bit worried, but THERE WAS NO NEED. Everyone loved their food. I think I won the food contest, with those FLY AF tacos (omg so good, get. perfect heat level). The building itself is also really cool, neat decor. I would go back. The wife and I went on a road trip to Milwaukee and were in need of a few beers. We stopped here simply because it looked good and did nothing other than drink. My wife ordered the flight, which is multiple beers brewed by the brewery (see multiple photos on Yelp). I think it was 8-9 beers and it covered most of the beers that the brewery produces. She enjoyed them for the most part. She liked, and I also tried, an interesting raspberry weiss beer. I recommend it, but maybe only for a taste as part of a flight. Not sure that I could drink 5 full size raspberry beers. I might switch it out to the weiss or amber after 1. I ordered Bavarian Weiss, which was good. Neither of us ordered food so this review applies to the beer only. I would go back here on my next Milwaukee road trip. The server was friendly/efficient. read more

Very neat place. The wait was quick for a Saturday and for how busy they were which was nice. We were able to get beers at the bar while we waited. The bar smelled a little funny, may just be me I don't know. The waiter was amazing. He was polite, helpful and fun! The food we got was pretty good. The pizza we got was average I wouldn't go out of my way to get it. Overall a good experience. The environment is nice and Peaceful and my wife and I were able to have conversation. So. Hmm. I have to agree with many other reviews. This place is where we take visitors when we are heading to the marcus center. They all seem to love it. Paper menus....check. Many of their own brews....yup. Feel of thebTV show cheers....suppose. Problem for me is nothing food wise is amazing. Not horrible. Just not "wow". The beer (for me) is weak tea. And many taste almost identical but YMMV. We have so many choices for craft beer in our 414 so I wouldn't put this in my top 10. Now it is an institution and I suppose everyone needs to visit at least once. They are part of a restaurant group that owns the tex mex place next door and the two "Irish" bars around the corner. Again not terrible. Just in a town with so many amazing places the bar (luckily for us locals) is quite high. read more

Checked this brewery out for the first time the other weekend when I was staying downtown. It was a pretty short walk from the Hilton, just a few blocks. I try to see as many different breweries as I can when I come to Milwaukee, and half are more of a taproom and the others more like an actual restaurant. This falls into the restaurant category. While I sadly didn't have time to get any of the food, I was able to take advantage of their sweet $3 house drafts happy hour deal (M-F 3-6) I got the punch you in the eye and cascadian nights beers. I liked both, though I'd say I liked punch better. The decor inside was cool, kind of old timey pub style. The bartender was very nice and friendly and talked to me a bit at the bar. If I'm ever staying downtown again, I'd definitely be down to stop here and again and hopefully get their food as well. read more

The beer here is great and my favorite is the Raspberry Weisse! Tarty, slightly sweet, mildly effervescent, and so smooth. They have flights so you can sample everything that interests you. I found the serving sizes to be overpriced and very small for a "large" plate. The ordering process wasn't service oriented, "order at the bar" or order via your phone. The servers are not attentive for refills, mostly to just bring your food. We have to walk to bar to get our refills. Clearing tables was poorly done. The espresso martini was delicious. I have visited WSB several times over the past two years while visiting MKE. Each time we have been there we have easily been able to get a table for a group as large as 10 people. The wait staff has always been prompt and very nice with no problems whatsoever. Food has been pretty darn good and the menu has something for everyone. My favorite may be the Wisconsin Cheese Curds. They are so far the #1 best Cheese Curds we have found in Wisconsin. Beer is always cold and they serve both local and national beers. Nice atmosphere and convenient to places like Marcus Center and Pabst Theater. read more

One word I can think to describe Water Street Brewery is: fine. It's fine. Don't go expecting top notch service or mind blowing food, but don't go expecting to be disappointed either. The service is...fine. It is quick enough, which is always appreciated, but is also consistently impersonal. The food is...fine. You're not going to get a gourmet meal here, but you're likely not going to leave super disappointed either. The grilled cheese is pretty tasty, even though the bread is huge. The french onion soup is actually a pretty safe bet if you're into that kind of thing. Bottom line: I don't love it, but I definitely don't hate it. WSB is a solid choice after a show at the Marcus while waiting for the parking structure to clear out. read more
