After staying the previous night in a terrible place just a bit to the south, we were happy we moved to The Breakers condo/hotel. Our room 316 was nicely decorated, and we enjoyed the balcony. The hide a bed wasn't super comfortable, but it was passable. Quiet and peaceful this time of year, room was right at $200. Kitchen, dinette, living room with a fireplace and a complementary duraflame log too! read more

The most unacceptable thing happened to us not once but TWICE. In 2016 room 228, we had found a condom rapper, along with a hypodermic needle near the head board of our bed, at that time we talked with Laura, she moved us to another room with the up most sincere apology, and we called it a night.   At check out they offered another weekend stay at their expense between the none peak months. So at that point I figured it was just junkies using the room to do whatever, whenever. I was wrong.   Now May 2018 we are back with our now 3 month old son, traveled 150 miles for our first family outing to the beach. We checked in as usual at 11:34pm at night with this sweet lady named Penny, she informed us that the room we requested was "Unavailable", didn't have a reason, but when I called 3 days before our check in date no one informed me that there was not an issue.   She sent us to room #314, non-smoking, none pet room which was outdated, smelled musty with the window open and heat off. It was freezing in the room when we walked in, I thought it was weird that the window had been left open, but I just closed it without thinking anything. We proceeded to unpack our things, get our son off to bed, when we found yet again paraphernalia!! The room we had requested abled us to have our sons pack-n-play in the bedroom, but this condo did not. So we had to make due and move the mattress out to the living room so we could sleep side by side with our son. Once we moved the mattress we saw the disgusting issue that we had to deal with AGAIN.   I could not believe it.   WE FOUND A RAG WITH BLOOD ON IT ALONG WITH TIN FOIL SOILED WITH A BLACK SUBSTANCE.   We left ASAP. Had Penny call the Manager DEBBIE ROBINSON, when she arrived didn't seem too surpised, wasn't apologetic. Keep your familes away from this place. I have four pictures but I am not sure how to post them. read more

My husband and I stayed here last night. The room was super clean and pleasant. Staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. Parking was easy. It was quiet and restful. Location was great, I'm sure we will stay there again. Thanks so much Breakers for helping to make our visit one to remember!! read more

My wife and I stayed at the Breakers for three nights at the end of September. Off-peak for Long Beach, the condo complex was empty, the town empty, the beaches and state parks empty. The management team was glad to have us, very accommodating and pleasant. We rented a 1BR condo, which was comfortable, roomy, well equipped, and well maintained. Since there were few visitors, our request for a no-pet unit on the west end on the third floor (for views) was easily granted. Else, this condo was very affordable off-peak using a Groupon, little more costly than a motel room. Complementary cruiser bikes made use of the Discovery Trail, which starts right from the Breakers property, a requisite and unique experience. Our only small nitpick is that the ocean is 1/2 mile walk away, and the ocean view is mostly of dunes. Else, this is a good romantic getaway off-season, and a nice family vacation home on-peak. A few must-do's: Hiking Cape Disappointment and Leadbetter State Parks, Long Beach Coffee Roasters, Captain Bob's chowder. read more

This place is great, especially in the cold months. I think there were about 5 cars parked in the entire place. Nice and quiet. Rooms were clean and had everything we needed. I loved cooking breakfast with a fire going and an ocean view outside my window. Great place to decompress and get away with my honey at a reasonable price, thank you! I deducted 1 star for the bed that could have been more comfortable. read more

Worst place to stay at! If you want to be relive the 1980's highly recommend it. Honestly have never seen anything this bad before. Never again Adrift is where it's at!!!! This place cost more then a hotel in NYC and has nothing to show for it! read more

I guess if I had kids and/or dogs, and wasn't as concerned with cleanliness, this place might have been a little more appealing. We went as a couple and got a room on the middle floor in the middle of the building (surrounded by other rooms). The walls and ceilings were PAPER THIN. There was no possibility of sitting in the room to relax/read if you are at all annoyed by people stomping above you or having conversations in the middle of the night. I kind of wanted to meet our neighbors after staying there for 3 nights, b/c we heard them so much it felt like we knew them. The worst thing for me was the cleanliness level. It was poor. I always inspect the bed when I get to a room. I usually form an opinion about the rest of the place on the cleanliness of the bed. The bed had black hairs in it. Not just one, which could have fallen from the maid's head, but QUITE A FEW HAIRS in the bed. I assumed this was a lazy maid who decided to skip changing the bed after the previous guest. It was disgusting and the first night we put towels down over the sheets and made sure to order new sheets the next day. Also, the blanket and bedspread did not appear to have been washed at all between guests. Not unusual with the bedspread, but the blanket grossed me out. The bathroom looked nice until I looked closely at the counter of the vanity. Not much surface area to clean really, but guess what was there? Yep, more black hairs! They looked like they had been wiped into the corner of the vanity. Maybe the maid had poor eye sight? All of the light fixtures had the new energy efficient light bulbs. Since these bulbs are so bright (not cozy), when I turned on the bedside lamp, it really illuminated the base of the lamp. It was covered with a thick layer of dust/dead skin. I covered it and the bedside table with a towel for the duration of our stay. The carpet was extremely industrial strength (read: rough) and multicolored to hide stains and dirt. Who knows how much human DNA is/are in the rugs. Bring flip-flops to wear if that bothers you at all. We probably just got a really bad cleaning before checking in, but it pretty much ruined the room for me personally. As mentioned in other posts, the decks were not very private, and on the second floor didn't have much of a view, even though they told us it was "ocean view". The bedroom window (which looked out on to the deck) opened sideways. The blinds were regular blinds. This would have been fine, if they had worked and I could have pulled them up. Nope. The blinds were broken. Kind of a let-down when I wanted to open them all the way (not just turn them open). The kitchen was nice decor-wise. No elevator so if you get a second or third floor room, get ready for steps. The disposable key cards that you get at hotels that you can throw away when you leave? At the Breakers, they charged $1 if one was lost. I guess it was just another way for them to make money. We love the beach and the sound of the ocean. Couldn't hear much of that due to the people out in the park/bbq area partying late into the evening. It kind of felt like we got ripped off. But we didn't use the hot tub or pool, so maybe if we had taken advantage of that it would have been a better value for the money we spent --but I think the black hairs would have still negated any good things. Next time we will definitely be staying somewhere else! read more

It is so disappointing to be in a nonsmoking room and have everyone outside on their balconies smoking! We couldn't have windows open on a 90 degree day because of the stench of cigarette smoke. The room was really dusty and not clean under the beds or in the closets. Why was there someone's leftover ham in the refrigerator? Why was the dishwasher full of dishes and why was there a dirty rag in the kitchen sink? And, seriously, with the high price of the rooms you charge more money to borrow DVDs from the front office? I can't recommend the Breakers read more

I'm sure there are nicer rooms than the ones we stayed in, but we were stuck in a very outdated and old one. Expensive for what we got but fine since it was clean. Supplies were all stocked and available. No complaints really as the whole family had a great time at the hotel, beach and pool. read more

My bf and I visited Long Beach just after Christmas for a weekend and stayed here. It was fairly empty so we got the room (not a condo) on the first floor closest to the paved walkway leading to the beach. The room did not have an ocean view, but we knew that going in. The hotel is beach front, NOT ocean front just for clarification. The room was pretty standard and nothing special with one main room with a queen bed, one smaller room with a twin bed, bathroom and a small fridge with a microwave in the closet. It was clean, maybe could use an update. The roof is tin, I think, so can been noisy when raining. It was pretty quiet, but I can see it being louder with more people in the busier seasons. The beds were ungodly uncomfortable. I mean the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. My bf and I had back issues after this stay and we've stayed in a lot of hotels, friends futons/floors, and pull out couches. The price for 2 nights was about $270 total, not exactly a bargain. The front desk staff were courteous, but we did not request their services other than checking in and out. I know a person who has stayed in the condos section of the hotel and enjoyed their stay. They also mentioned that The Breakers offers discounts on a regular basis and have stayed there for $99/night. So I would take advantage of those offers if you were to stay there. It was ok. I'll probably be looking into a different accommodation next time. read more

Great place! Nice size rooms, good view and close enough to everything you would want to do. Really nice for family or people like us with a dog. They are very accommodating offering towels and sheets if needed for our pup. Each room is different and unique. The only thing I'd really ask for is better beds. read more

We were in the one bedroom condo on the 3rd floor. It was very comfortable for us. We had 4 adults and two small kiddos. The kitchen was bigger then the one in my apartment! The living room and bedroom were also large. The decor is straight from the late 70s early 80s and it smelt kind of old until we opened all the windows. You can see the beach from the balcony..also right into the room that could be connected to ours to make a two bedroom condo.... that was awkward. The blow dryer was broken but replaced promptly. There were complimentary bike rentals and they are in great condition. The pool and hot tub looked nice but we didn't have time to use them. The walk to the beach was kind of a trek with kids but still relaxing. I would return with my family. You get a lot for what you pay. It's outside of town a little ways so don't plan on riding bikes into town or walking. read more

Nice place to stay on the dunes. We were on the third floor so we could see the ocean over the dunes. They have free bikes which can be used on the paved bike path that comes right up to the property. We drove our bikes about a mile to town and had breakfast at the bakery. The accommodations are nice and clean but a little dated. We did ask a neighbor to turn down the TV because a lot of sound comes through the adjoining door. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. read more

We stayed at the breakers over fathers day weekend. We were very pleased with it. Our only real complaint was the wifi didnt work to well from our room. Seemed to work better by the other buildings. Booked a sub-par room for two nights that has never been updated since 1974. furniture circa 1970s. Old wore-out uncomfortable bed.. I confirmed on the phone that we would be in a different building in the complex where we prefer to be then they switched it on us when we showed up and got this so called view room for the same price as good rooms we have rented in the past. and the only water source in the room was the bathroom sink. and they advertise WIFI. it didn't work all weekend and when it did, there was not enough band with to open websites read more

This is a decent hotel. Its a little old and a little rundown and, personally, I don't think its worth the price. The walls are very thin, we could hear our neighbors bathroom fan running all night. The bed was uncomfortable and our mini-fridge didn't work. But it is very close to the beach with a decent trail leading towards it. The views are spectacular. And the staff is very friendly. A little updating and better soundproofing on the walls and this place could be a great deal! But as is, not worth the price. read more

This was our first time staying in an apartment type hotel room and I just loved it. We stayed in section C. Each section is owned by a different person and varry slightly I've heard. We had a separate bedroom and a couch that made into a bed in the living room which the kids got to sleep on. It was very nice having some privacy while on our vacation. Not to mention the money we saved being able to cook our own food in the full kitchen rather than eating out for every meal. The apt. was stocked with fire logs for the fireplace, all the supplies you'd need for the kitchen, board games, and more. They had free WiFi which my son was happy about. We were able to check out movies to watch & were given free charcoal to BBQ in their covered BBQ area. The heated indoor pool & hot tub were very nice and they have a park area to fly kites & a playground for kids. The beach is just a short walk from the hotel & there's a paved hiking or biking path (up to 8 miles if your up to that far!) . There's horse shoe pits & a basketball court. Balls & horse shoes can be checked out of course. Our dog was able to stay with us as well for a small fee. We had a balcony with a ocean view which was very nice. My only complaint was their horrible housekeeping service! On our first day the housekeeper came in & emptied our trash & put new trash liners in & took the old towels in & stocked the bathroom with fresh towels. That was it! The second day the housekeeper barged in the room early without evening allowing time for my sleeping children to answer the door. And all she did was place a stack of fresh towels on the FLOOR. Really? We called & complained and asked that she at least come back to take our garbage out & take the old wet towels. When she returned we asked her to please vacuum. She refused but said she would come back later. Well she never did. Not once was our bed ever made by the housekeeper. When I'm paying that much for a room I expect my room to at least be cleaned. I wad very tempted to give an overall score of 3 because of this, but because of all the other great amenities & service I went with 4 stars. Had the housekeeping been better they would have received 5. read more

My husband and I decided on a last minute break from our daily lives. We booked on line. The reviews were good. We received a confirmation call right away. When we arrived less than 10 hours later we were told the grounds and beach access were flooded and had to drive a mile in either direction. Why weren't we told this on the phone? It is the highlight of their hotel. The disappointment kept coming. The room was so small you had to stand sideways to pass one another. No place to hang your wet shower (no water pressure) towels. The neighbors water usage was so loud had to turn up the tv. Parking was sparse too. Wouldn't go back. Oh and the pool was green. We passed. read more

My family just stayed at the Breakers for 2 nights (11/9-10 2012) and enjoyed our stay. The location was within walking distance to the beach, had a nice playground, and the staff was friendly. We were able to get a bottom floor unit that allows for dogs. The property appears to have been built in the 70's to early 80's, but was clean and well-maintained. We were even greeted with a fun beach bucket filled with local jam, salt-water taffy, kettle corn and fudge. I'd stay there again. I ordered this deal through Sharing Spree which was great because a portion of their proceeds are allocated to non-profits. :) read more

Got a great deal on Groupon and was expecting an adaquate hotel ala hotwire. Blew away all my expectations. Room was clean with hot shower. Fully stocked kitchen with a refrigerator that my wife was tempted to take home. Lots of books, board games, and movies although there is so much to do we doesn't watch tv or read much. The beach is a short walk across dunes and almost pristine. We enjoyed the maintained BBQ grill and the complimentary charcoal. Didn't get to try the pool or hot tub, but we will on our next visit read more

We went to the breakers for our anniversary and because we had been there in the past when we were younger we thought we would be okay. Honestly it never was the best hotel in Long Beach always had that old needed to be updated type of smell. But since we had been there before we figured let's try it again let me say big mistake. We paid a $159 a night to stay in a $59 dollar a night hotel. It has a rule of quiet time starts at 10:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 a.m.We couldn't even use our jacuzzi after 10pm. We stayed for 2 nights and every single night at 10:00 p.m. the noise began you could hear stomping yelling running up-and-down the stairs it was like exactly the opposite and they did nothing about it. We stayed in a Jacuzzi room what a piece of garbage the Jacuzzi they had in their honestly was from when they 1st opened the place in 1960 or 70 something.I talked to some locals down on the strip Saturday night when we went out to dinner at Doogers and the tavern. They both said sorry to us for staying at the Breakers. They advertise as a 3 star hotel and they are not. They are lucky to called a 2 star. I guarantee unless I absolutely have to I will never stay there again. read more

Sad to see this place fall so far. People break all the rules: loud drunken parties, smoking on the decks, trailers with families in parking lot, barking dogs left in rooms, 8-10 people cramming into a room with one bedroom and always the front desk excuse that they didn't know. I'm done with this dump. read more

Everything about this hotel was ok. I can't put my finger on why I didn't love it but I can't really say anything bad about it either. Our room was nice and clean. The only let down of the room was the bedding was old and the bed was very hard. The kitchen and living space could fit several people and the aminties are pretty nice. It only takes about a min. to get to the beach. The major bonous for this place is they allow pets. Almost every person we saw had dogs. read more

We only planned on staying one night, but that turned in to three. The accommodations were clean, cozy, and comfortable. We had a nice deck with a view of the ocean and a nice fireplace to keep us warm. The frogs are in full force here due to the marshy terrain and they serenaded us by the thousands every night. They have a pool and an indoor and outdoor jacuzzi, which we enjoyed every night. The outdoor one appeared closed for the season. Lura, Mike, and Chris were very helpful and friendly staff folks. We would definitely go back in the warmer months as a well. Looks Like a great place to come with families, as they have neat outdoor playgrounds and BBQ areas. read more

From the minute we checked I could tell this was going to be a good experience. At the front desk, Linda was welcoming and helpful as she treated us with genuine caring and kindness. We just came back from 5 wonderful days at the Breakers, The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even helped carry our luggage to the 2nd floor ( no elevators). Our condo was nicely appointed and very clean. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that you can hear the people above you walking across the room. The other disappointment is that you really have to stretch on the balcony to see the ocean in the distance. That said my husband, our dog Charlie and I look forward to returning read more

I've been going to Breakers for years. It's so dog-friendly and the beach is amazing!! I love exploring the town too.

If we could give it a 2.5, we would. We stayed in one of the regular king hotel rooms after having been sent to 2 other hotel rooms before being sent to the correct room. This place needs some serious updating and if you're going to add personal decor to make things more homey... clean those items. The microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker do not belong in the closet. They are not accessible in there. They need to open up the space, take out the dividing wall between the room and the bunk beds, make the room roomy enough that you can actually walk around. All the paint from the painted dining set was left on the wall where it was constantly rubbing against the wall because there is no space in the room. It looked like the only thing that had been updated recently was the floors. Also, why in the world would you not open up the doorway to the shower? You have to squeeze out an opening smaller than your average doorway. Take the half wall on the shower out and replace the vanity around the sink, don't paint over the scratches on the surface of the vanity! There isn't a fan in the room, so no air movement if you're not wanting to open the window. They did have board games in the room which was a nice touch, read more

Recently stayed at the Breakers with my family. I reserved a condo for 8 of us and it worked out perfectly. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed which allowed us to bring our own food and save money from having to eat at the restaurants in town. The beds were comfortable and the condo was nice and clean. We were able to have our dog there with us and the balcony was nice for the kids to play on. We were also right next to the play ground which the kids enjoyed playing at. We had a view of the ocean which was wonderful. The staff were very nice and pleasant to work with. read more

If you have kids or a dog or want to have a family reunion, apparently this is the place to go. If not, you should stay away. We could not enjoy any of the amenities because there was a large group (perhaps a family reunion) who was everywhere we turned. We thought we might be able to enjoy the hot tub during the adult only hours, but nope, it was full of children. Loud, hyper children, who I also heard through the walls loud and clear, along with their dogs. Not relaxing! The "bed" was really a pull out couch. I've never had a hotel room before that only had a pull out couch. It was about as comfortable as your usual pull out couch. It had an old, moldy shower (no tub), a good sized fully stocked kitchen, and a balcony that overlooked the family reunion or my neighbors balcony. The "ocean view" room did not have an ocean view. If I squinted and looked way off into the distance when it was completely clear, I think I may have seen a sliver of ocean. But a view, no, there was no view. It's a long walk to the beach and is a quick drive (but long walk) to town. No elevator. Definitely not worth 300$ (with taxes and everything) for two nights! read more
