Decided to get out of town for the night so we made the drive from Tacoma. We got the standard pet friendly room. I made the reservation on Booking.com and when I completed the transaction it said that I had not selected a pet friendly room. I immediately called and the lady that answered switched me to a pet friendly room. The room itself was pretty cute, bed was comfortable. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the beach but its a nice walk down discovery trail. We didn't use the pool because I forgot my shorts, but it looked nice. Absolutely thrilled that we found this place! The online reviews had me reluctant, but our usual Long Beach place that we love was booked, so we ended up here. We had a one bedroom ocean view condo, with two adults, two kids, and a large dog. We were very pleasantly surprised with our condo. Not only was it very spacious, but it was nicely appointed, with all of the kitchen utensils we needed, a king size and comfortable bed, and very high quality furniture, with a sofa that pulled out into a bed - easily the most comfortable pull out bed I've ever found. Our unit was spotless, had great water pressure,, and plenty of storage. Linens were fresh, kitchen appliances and dishes were clean, and it generally felt well built and well maintained. Very cute beachy decor. LOVED it. I realized while here, that the folks who are complaining about the hotel versus the condos in these reviews, have mistaken Breakers for an adjacent location. Breakers does not have a hotel. It is purely privately owned condos that are maintained by private owners and managed by the "resort". As such, each unit is different. I confirmed this with staff. They have a great indoor pool and hot tub that's open until 11 PM. Facilities are clean. Parking is free. Can't wait to return! read more

We love this place. We discovered it by accident years ago. Every room we've stayed in has been wonderful. They have dog-friendly rooms, which is important to us. I stayed here again because a family Member paid for my stay. I wouldn't have come Here any other way. They offered. To make a long story somewhat shorter after staying here a 2nd time I do not want to come back. I thought they might've changed after 2 years. I was wrong. The rooms are really outdated unless you have a condo. People run up and down the hallways all night. Other guests are completely rude including one lady in the B building yelling at us for walking by "her" window. My room was very outdated. Looked like the 80s. It needs new paint, phone doesn't work. It it is not modern at all needs USB port chargers. The bathrooms are tiny. Walls are paper thin so you will hear everything. The only redeeming qualities are the pool and hot tub. I called today 8-7-21 to inquire about it I could Get some towels. Mine were dirty and used. They said no towel service today and I would have to walk to go get them. Everything is so far apart. The hotels themselves are on 24 acres of land. The receptionist was less than friendly. They do have rental bikes and DVDs to rent. My other issue is smoking. I get it that people smoke but it smells like marijuana everywhere. You can smell cigarettes cause people smoke on patios which shouldn't be allowed. They also are definitely not view rooms. You cannot see the ocean from any room here I have asked. It's almost a 10 minute walk to the beach . People play music very loud when quiet hours are 10-8. I also could not leave my door open for a breeze to the patio to cool off because of all the cigarettes smoke outside coming up. read more

I hate to book a place I haven't seen, but I couldn't imagine going to a town as small as Long Beach on a festival weekend without a rock solid reservation. Yelp is so helpful there. Two of the big selling points for me were the 26 acres and the prospect of a private beach. I love kids and dogs, but only my own. I did not have my dog with me and specificly requested a 'no dog' room. I didn't want a room that smelled of wet dog or sleep in a bed someone's dog had slept in. The reservation people were good with that. I don't recall our room number, it may have been 402 we had a ground floor 1 bedroom condo with full kitchen. Being the dutiful Yelper that I am you will see lots of photos. I would go here again in a heartbeat. I think the room was about $200 a night but with just a step out the back door we were under the stars and could listen to the frogs (we don't have many of those in LA, neither frogs nor stars). There was no drought, no road rage and no litter. There were hoses to clean your beach sand away, beach cruiser bicycles,and it was a lot like using a friend's condo. There were very few dogs there and very few children. The dogs we did see appeared to be clean and well groomed and there is a leash rule. It was not noisy where we were, Forth of July weekend or a time when more kids are present might be a different story. . Regarding the beach front, beach view, there are dunes between the property and the ocean so if you are ground floor you won't be seeing the ocean, we knew that but wanted ground floor. The beach, ocean was about a 15 minute walk and much of the path was asphalt. This is not easy walking distance to downtown Long Beach but that's OK. It was an easy ride on the beach cruiser. Fireplace was a nice touch, it wasn't until our second day we discovered the place had 3 thermostats, so I was a little cold the first day. the bed had a blanket and a comforter and two more comforters in the closet, about the caliber of what you might see at Target or Walmart but they kept us warm. Went for my wife's birthday weekend and it wasn't bad but room was a little dated and small, blinds weren'tas nice as curtains for example. Sauna in the room was a nice addition although not needed. Room was noisy also between next door room and upstairs, carpet upstairs might help and more insulation between rooms would be nice.. Pool and hot tub were OK, there was 30 min time slots during covid but not enforced so it was busy. Gazebo with BBQ was busy and volleyball court. I feel for the amount of rooms (when busy) they aren't enough amenities. read more

Everyone is helpful here. This is really a gem, first they take pets and I love bringing my dog to the beach. The rooms are big, great kitchenette and dining area, which gives it a family feel, a great hangout for family. The hotel is outdated but clean. Views are beautiful! Walking distance to The Cove,.. rain or shine we walked over had drinks and dinner and walked back. We only stayed one night, I plan to book a weekend so we can enjoy longer walks:) read more

Cons: Generally not what I consider clean. When we arrived, there was hair in the drain, pillows had drool stains, table tops were sticky, couch grease stained. Beds are a bit on the old and uncomfortable side. Fixtures are older. Showerhead is bottom of the line and seems 20 years old. You can listen to your neighbor snore or whatever they are doing. My boyfriend and I wanted a weekend getaway, so we decided to look through Groupon. As a result, we found this condo deal for 2 nights. The drive from Seattle to Long Beach was quite hectic because we hit traffic. When we got there to the resort, it was already 10 pm. The front desk lady was very nice in telling us about the check-in process. Our unit was not very hard to find, and my oh my.... the unit had the view to the ocean plus a big playground area. Additionally, the kitchen was fully equipped with pots, pans, knives, utensils, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, refrigerator, and dishwasher. The bedroom and the bathroom were very clean. The wifi connection is actually not bad at all. If you want to feel fit in the daytime, the resort also allows you to rent bikes for up to 60 minutes. There was a nearby market in the next town, so we were able to stop by there and bought some food to cook at the condo. There were also restaurants nearby. I mean...this resort is quite awesome for being located near the beach and there were things to do nearby. If you want a quick weekend getaway from the crowded city, consider Breakers Resort at Long Beach for the accommodations. read more

We were the FIRST of over 50 people on our rod run. After over 5 and a half hours later, we were finally able to get our room. Meanwhile EVERYONE else got their rooms immediately. Our room was not in my opinion worth the money!! The room smelled musty, had garbage on the floor, bathroom had not been cleaned, coffee on the bathroom counter, dirty sbower with pubic hair on toilet, counter and shower. Sticky substance on the comforter. This little gem is certainly worth coming back to year after year whenever you're in the area! I couldn't see the ocean from my "ocean side room" which was lame but I did leave my door open on the balcony and fell asleep to the sound of millions of frogs! OMG it was super romantic! Then in the morning the sounds of the water and sounds of birds chirping - it was spectacular! The pool is HUGE!! They are dog friendly and there is lots of places to wander around with your pup. My only "complaint" was I had a room with a murfy bed and it was super uncomfortable so next time I'll request a room with an actual bed bed but I will be back for sure! read more

So this was the last stop before going home. We were really excited because it's only about a 10 minute walk from the ocean. And they allow animals!!! Each place is different, because they are private condos that get rental out. We chose to get a one bedroom place. We loved it. The only down side (like any place you could stay) was our neighbors. One group was really odd to say the least. The other group was loud and just rude. They do have quite hours from 10pm to 7am. This group had the rest of the party coming in after 1030pm. Wouldn't have been to bad if they hadn't been yelling and banging on things starting at 8. And just getting louder as the night went on. To the point we ended up calling the front desk. They were quick to help fix the issue, finding the best option was for us to move to a different room. By 11 pm we were settled and finally able to go to bed. Even with the issues that night. This is still on our stay at again list. The hospitality/custome service was good. read more

Nice grounds and the pool and spa are exceptional. The view is wonderful however our room left a lot to be desired. To begin with the blinds did not work and the carpet was the DIRTIEST carpet I've ever seen anywhere. When the sun came into the rom and warmed it up you could smell the pet urine (we do not have pets). After I took my shower I did a few things in the room and when I went to get in bed my husband noticed my feet were filthy. The blanket on the bed looked like they bought it at a garage sale, it had multiple holes in it and was so thin it virtually was of no use. It looks like they spent a bunch of money on the kitchenette, new fridge, dishwasher, microwave and stove. $179.00 a night is an outrageous price for a room with these issues. The Breakers are condos that are privately owned but shouldn't the company have better standards? They were painting the outside but more attention needs to be paid to the rooms. This was our 50th wedding anniversary and unfortunately we spent it in a filthy place. They should be ashamed!! We won't EVER return to this place. It depends on the room you get and how housekeeping is feeling that day. We arrived and were excited to explore the area and thoroughly enjoyed the beach and dinner out. However the next morning (7am)we realized there was no more toilet paper, and the kitchen was a mess. Crumbs behind the toaster and in cupboards. Grime on the pots and pans and no dish soap. With Covid concerns we Lysol'd and disinfected everything. And brought it to the attention of front desk who told us to let Linda know about it check out. When we did that she told us they're doing the best they can and are lucky to even be open! IMO if they can't keep rooms clean and stocked between guests they shouldn't be open. read more

DON'T bring your family here they have black mold in the windows they can't keep up with thire maintenance the door to my deck was broken and as I go to unlock the door the door flys open because then door nob was broken all I can say is I'm happy that it was me that it went flying in to and not my 4 year old because that door nob could have took her teeth out and my Second room inside of my room didn't even have a door to it and I go to wtach the tv and it doesn't even trun on and then I tell them all this and they said they are still going to charge my card but they gave me a 20% off but what's messed up is that they charge my card when I checked in so how did they give me that 20% off this is the worst hotel on the whole peninsula I say go to the chautauqua way better and cheeper and there rooms don't have black mold read more

Dirty dirty dirty. First off we Found garbage behind the trash can, black hairs in the bed, and dirt and dust everywhere the eye could see. Second there was only five or six people staying at the hotel while we were there. They have about 100 rooms but still had to put someone with three kids and a dog directly above us. When I went down to ask if they could ask him to be a little quieter the lady at the desk told me he was a owner and shrugged her sholders. Don't know what happen to the breakers but it use to be the best get-a-way in long beach, and now I will never go back read more

The Breakers is awesome! I show up in Long Beach on Friday (end of August), without any reservations and start calling around. Finding a hotel, especially one that accepts dogs, isn't always easy. Boy am I lucky I found the Breakers. The suite was very nice, with a large kitchen (for a hotel room) with a full size fridge, stove and oven. The internet was fast, the view was great, they had a lot of extras, like bicycles you can borrow from the office. The customer service was great from the moment I called. The true test was later when I made a mistake that could have really left my vacation on a sour note. Upon arriving home, I realized that I had left a wallet with $500 cash, hidden, in the room. I called the front desk. The night manager (it was after midnight) was very friendly and reassuring. The next day they found my wallet, converted the cash to a check and mailed it back by certified mail. I've traveled a lot, stayed in a lot of hotels, and I can tell you that the customer service I received at The Breakers, puts them in the top 5% of places I've stayed. read more

Great room (#205) that is perfect -- wonderful queen bed, well appointed, a good bathroom, spare cul de sac with a twin bed for the kid, microwave, fridge, a blu-ray player and an HDTV that shockingly just works and works in full HDTV mode with no atrocious useless for-profit interactive "menu", clean, great service, great location. Just plain great. Anytime we're coming out here again in the future, this is our place. It should be yours too. Extra perks: great little playground for the kids that's usually teeming with kids, so lots of playtime. A stupidly short walk from the beach (maybe 1/8th of a mile? a quarter mile?). This was lovely! So family friendly. We got an awesome room 208. (Ground floor, opens up to the playground, and right next to the pool house) only a couple min from the beach private entrance. Staff is more than helpful! I love that there is a kitchen in the room, totally helps keep food costs down. Plus there is a TON of extra comforters in the master closet, sweet for cuddling up on the porch while the kids burn extra energy at the playground! read more

No, this is not a fancy pants review where five-stars means I had caviar and snails, but it is so much more than that as far as environs. These buildings are set out at a good angle to prevent damage from the high winds, and yet still provide views of the ocean - this is a hard put-together, and The Breakers does it well, no doubt because they have many owners of the properties who just loan them out occasionally or year-round for a fee. Some are dog-friendly - and proudly sport a wall medallion if so. There are no people running around asking you how you are doing. This is, after all, the Long Beach Peninsula. You gotta live here to know what that means. We moved here because of the 'ambiance' and this place was our perfect gateway back in 2004. At that time we discovered this gem, and the long hikes to the beach, so worth it, and the dunes so other-worldly, and by gosh! the staff is superb. Can I repeat that? The. staff. is. superb. They found my gift certificate that I bought when fighting with my mate - I "invited" him to a $500 gift certificate at our local hotel. I lost the darned thing back in '08, and then, when we needed to use it, after many years in Portland and trying to rent out our clam shack up there, they took an hour and half and found my old gift certificate and honored it - five years later. If that is not superb service, I don't know what is. I love the vibes here, the clothing on sale in front is very sturdy, let me tell you - I still have my two items I got there in 2007. One is a treasured windbreaker that is no longer available. Love t his place. Ask for the "suite" where you get a full kitchen with normal (wood-burning) fireplaces, regular stoves and ovens and mitts and coffee pots - you get the bedroom and a nice bathroom like a little house. I love this place. I now live about 10 minutes from here. I sometimes want to ask them if I can just tour the grounds, as it reminds me of why I moved here. Bravo you guys. read more

Decorated in an updated beachy theme, the kitchen stocked with everything you need! The staff was very welcoming, took care of all our needs. The beach was fabulous, pool was clean and warm. First, I think it's important to be clear that each of the condos is individually owned and decorated. We stayed in 422 for two nights in November and found almost everything to be quite nice. There were enough amenities to make the Breakers a bang for your buck. Nothing super fancy, but had all of the ingredients for a great time. First of all they take dogs, an uninterrupted view of the beach & dunes, free bike rentals, fireplaces, and plenty of space to spread out and relax. 422 loses one star because the bed was super underwhelming. The cheap blanket had a number of holes in it, they only provided one old pillow each and the mattress was old and uncomfortable. We found ways to spruce it up, but it wasn't the type of bed you'd want to lounge in. We found the Breakers office staff to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would suggest finding an online coupon to make your stay even more enjoyable. read more

This place needs a serious update. Most of the furnishings look like they're from the 70's. We started in a standard room. Very small and the toilet didn't seem to be properly bolted to the ground. Asked what else they had and moved to a 1br condo for $40 more per night. That was ok but still couldn't shake the dirty feeling. This whole town seems a bit run down, so I doubt there's much better out there, which is what keeps them in business. Wifi is very choppy and you can't maintain a signal on your devices for very long at all. You will hear your neighbors conversations like they are in the room with you (walls are paper thin). Not very cool when your neighbors are up at 6:20am and acting like everyone else should be, too. Indoor pool and outdoor hot tub. read more

The Breakers has gone way down hill in the past 2 years. We have been going there for 20 years but no more. Their prices have doubled in 2 years and with covid, no services like housekeeping, garbage removal or fresh linens/towels. The last time we stayed, the place was dirty (the toilet had not been cleaned and the kitchen floor was sticky). I emailed them my disappointment and have not heard back. We have rented a VRBO for our annual Christmas holiday instead. read more

Had a fantastic time! We got a 2 bedroom condo with a ocean/beach view for our family of 5. By far the most helpful and friendly staff on the whole peninsula! The rooms were fully stocked with normal hotel essentials including a log for the fireplace and extra blankets and sheets for the pullout couch. Our rooms could have easily slept a family of 8+ comfortably! They have a nice pool and hot tub, a playground for the munchkins, and everything is very family friendly. They even offer free bicycle rentals to fart around Discovery Trail. The hotel is located at the end of Long Beach so it's quiet and serene even in a busy beach town. We accidently left our air purifier behind (never travel without it) and they promptly contacted us and shipped it to our home. This coming from a town where my wife had her new Seahawks hat stolen by a resturant employee! Astounded by the amazing customer service! Thanks for the awesome memories guys! read more

The Breakers turned out to be a good place to stay with our dog. We stayed in a pet friendly unit for an overnight stay. The place is a motel/condo so the rooms vary as far as decor. Our room had a dolphin theme to it and was painted in a calming blue color. Our room was cozy. The beds were clean. Carpet did need replacing though as there were some brown stains on it from coffee or?. The balcony wasn't as private as we would have liked as it was to close to the neighbors balcony, but we and our dog made do. The room could have been quieter. The walls are on the thin side and you can hear people in the unit above walking to and fro. The lobby service was friendly, fast to get us checked in and out, and willing to help. The rates were reasonable. Amnemities include an indoor pool, jacuzzi (outdoors), basketball ct, large yard, childrens play area, BBQ area. We asked for an ocean view and got a partial view. The room though not overly spacious was sufficiently sized. Though next time we plan to get a suite there. The distance from the beach to the hotel is aprox 1/4 to 1/2 mile trail (one trail is paved btw) . In all we had a great stay at the Breakers and plan to return again. read more

We loved staying here. The condo was like a mini apartment that had recently been given an update. We stayed in a dog friendly condo. The pool is getting rebuilt so that was a disappointment that that the old pool was so gross. You can tell they are saving their money so they can build a great new pool but while they are doing this it doesn't make for the most pleasant pool. The one good thing about the pool was that it was very warm which my daughter loved. The only reason I am giving this a 4 is because both days we were there the maintenance guy was mowing for roughly 4 hours each day. It seemed like he was going over the same areas on the second day.
