We had a lovely stay in Bungalow #5! It really is the ideal location. Before arriving, I received a text from Kathy, the manager, just letting me know to let her know when I got there. She greeted us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the bungalow and showed us how to work everything. She's very friendly and lives on-site. This particular bungalow has two bedrooms. I'm pretty sure it's the only one that does. It has 2 queen sized beds. TV's in the living room and both bedrooms. Bathroom necessities, a small kitchen with all appliances, cookware, and utensils, fresh coffee with a grinder, and a coffee maker. Also, cream and sugar for your coffee. 1 box fan, which I took over, and a really nice deck with a table and chairs. For our family of three, it was perfect. Note to tall people. My partner is 6'. A few more inches and he may have hit his head, but it worked for us. We have already booked for next year. read more

My husband and I had pleasure of staying in one of these quaint 1930's bungalows over the week of the 2019 Washington State International Kite Festival. It's central location made it easy for us to travel and explore the peninsula by bike, and not to mention being able to walk to the festival everyday. Waking up each morning to enjoy freshly ground organic coffee and then ending each day with a soak in a jetted tub was more than we could have asked for. Kathy, the property manager, was very kind, friendly and helpful. Everytime we saw her she was either greeting us or other guests with a smile. The experience was more than we could have asked for, and we will definitely be staying here again. read more

We drove 3 hours btw. Just tried to get a room here, looked like. Great place to have our honeymoon for the night, but even trying to call an hour before they closed (closed at 9pm), went to voicemail, came to the place, no one in the office (15 min til close), called the number on the sign that says to call if u want a room or whatever. Called and the lady was so rude. Says she didn't want to get out of bed since we were just staying one night. What a horrible horrible reason and she sounded really rude. read more

This is probably my new favorite place to stay when in town. The bungalows are nice and spacious, and since they are bungalows you don't have to share a wall with someone. It's walking distance for just about everything. And most importantly they allow dogs. There is an extra fee but it's worth it to have a place with a jetted tub, kitchenette, and quiet when sleeping. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is I don't want to many other people to start staying here and causing them to raise the prices too much read more

After a long and exhaustive search of a beach getaway for New Years Eve, I settled on the Akari Bungalows. The prices were right and very reasonable and the location was excellent - a short walk both to the waters edge and downtown. We stayed in Bungalow #1 which is a one bedroom with a very comfortable king-sized bed, a small but cute living room with a couch, and a small but usable flat screen TV with a DVD player. Additionally it has a kitchen with a gas 4-burner stove, full-sized refrigerator, and a small table with seating for four. The kitchen also comes with all the utensils that you'll need for simple to moderate cooking. I hope that we have many opportunities to return to the Akari Bungalows and I have already recommend the accommodations to many friends and coworkers. read more

We found this place randomly driving around Long Beach after deciding to stay a night. Can you say love at first site...ok not that far but it was a great stay!! The Bungalow's are cute on the outside and inside was wonderful. Great colors, a fire place, king size COMFY bed, flat screen TV, mini kitchen, dining area, eco-friendly, and a view of the beach for only 115.00!! I would have given five stars except how low the ceilings were in the bathroom, and that the DVD player didn't work. I heard they allowed pets which is awesome too. Then there was the evening snack. We got a wonderful bottle of wine and some unbelievable truffles. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY. We got up the next morning after an amazing night's sleep and had breakfast. The meals were so inexpensive and superb! Great atmosphere and the portions were huge. When we got home I asked my boyfriend if we could go there again the next morning (we live two hours away), he laughed but we highly considered it. We stayed at Akari this last weekend. Basically, the end of tourist season so not a lot of things going on, but perfect for the boyfriend and me and Olive the Wonder Dog! The bungalow was tidy and well appointed. Everything I needed to cook our meals were available such as pots and pans, dishes and silverware. Bedding and towels were clean and once we turned on the gas fireplace the little bungalow warmed up quickly. The desk clerk was very friendly. The bathroom, though small, was not ridiculously tiny. They provided tiny shampoos and soaps, EO product brand and they smelled lovely. The kitchen had a microwave, a tiny gas stove, a mini fridge and coffee maker. The plates and silverware were mismatched but I found it charming, like when I had my first apartment, but everything was clean and put away in its place, unlike my first apartment. They provided coffee from the local roaster and a grinder to grind it in. We stayed in bungalow #7 because I read it was the best view, might be the only view on the property. There are condos and a parking lot directly behind the bungalows, but then I wasn't there for the bungalows necessarily, I was there for the beach and the town and the cranberry museum and the antique malls. The Wifi was intermittent and a bit weak, but then I was not there to be on the Internet. It would have been nice but there was plenty of other things for me to do. The bungalows are close to Scoopers, the best I've cream in town, maybe a little too close. They are situated at the start of the Long Beach boardwalk and when you walk out to the beach at night the stars are lovely! If you want the staff at your beck and call all through the night, this may not be your place. The office closes at 6pm and they are not back till the next morning at 10. There is a number you can call if there is an emergency, but there was none so I did not need to call them. A previous reviewer remarked that the bathroom was too small and the ceilings too low. The ceilings are probably at 6-1/2 feet. You might feel them too short if you are used to taller ceilings. You willbe fine if you are not a pro basketball player. The bathroom is small, but by no means tiny. Boyfriend is a little on the rounder side and had no problems in it. I am not a tiny woman and still had ample room. Akari Bungalows in not the Hilton. It is lovely little place but if you expect it to be a luxury hotel you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a cozy, clean bungalow by the sea them it would probably work for you. read more

This place is fantastic! My boyfriend and I found it while driving by. Affordable prices and very quality units. The bungalows are beach chic & SO CUTE! Our unit had a deck which was perfect for relaxing outside with a glass of wine. Great for private beach getaways. Only down side is the wifi is slow/fades in & out. read more

I would give them a 5 star but I took a star away for not having the room cleaned out when we arrived. BUT, I do give them the benefit of the doubt that someone had rented out the Bungalow the previous night & didn't have it in their system. && besides they treated us to a free lunch; which was pretty tasty. The workers there were really nice & as for as "house keeping" was concerned they did a great job at not disturbing us & basically letting us have our little bungalow to ourselves privately. The bungalow has a spacious sleeping area with a hot tub next to it, plus it has a kitchenette with all the necessary tools & dishes that you would need. The only thing you'd probably need to bring is the food to cook & oil because they did have everything else. There are different sizes & kinds of bungalows but Bungalow #7 (the one we stayed at) was really nice; not to mention we had a pretty good view. There's a lot of great things I could say about our Bungalow & our stay here, but it's not the same as actually experiencing it yourself. read more

Maybe 3.5 stars at best. I thought I had reviewed this place on the last day of our stay there, but now I recall that the WIFI was not working the last 2-3 days of our visit, so that is why I didn't post a review. The other reviewers here leaving 4 and 5 star reviews do a pretty good job of outlining all the good things about these bungalows...so I will list a few of the not-so-good points... These are not all free-standing bungalows, many of them are connected. They are bordered on both sides by parking lots with other buildings on the other sides of both of those parking lots. That said, I loved the fact that these were perfectly situated in the very center of town. That made up for the lack of views. As I mentioned, the WIFI went out partway through our visit and even after notifying the "front desk" (across town at the time) nothing was done about it for the rest of our stay. Luckily most of the restaurants in town had WIFI. No, I did not have a smart phone when I visited. The bungalows are small, and the low ceilings accentuate that fact. The bathroom was extremely tight. If you are claustrophobic, or a larger person, this warning is for you! Another complaint I have is that I noticed some garbage on the ground outside the entrance to our bungalow, near the door, when we checked in. I didn't bother picking it up then because I assumed housekeeping would get it. Well, it was still there when we checked out four days later! They are cool little bungalows though, I guess you could call them cute. And when it is raining outside, it had a cozy feel. The retain that vintage feel as well, if you are into that kind of thing. read more

My husband and I wanted a weekend out of the city and ended up deciding on going to Akari Bungalows. They were offering an extra 25% off a 2-night weekend stay, which tempted us more to go to this place. We stayed in bungalow #6. If you prefer small town charm over high-class hotel, then this is a great place. We arrived a couple of hours before scheduled check-in time and dropped by to see if maybe our room would be ready. They checked us in, no problems! The room was VERY cold, so we cranked up the heat and after a while it finally got warm and was quite cozy for the remainder of the weekend. A couple of reasons I didn't give it 5 stars...for us, these were mostly just small issues that weren't that big of a deal. The room had somewhat of a stagnant, 'the-heat-hasn't-been-used-in-a-while' smell to it. We got a little air freshener at the IGA and took care of this, though. The water took quite a while to warm up, which was a bit of a bother. Also, the faucet for the jacuzzi tub really needs to be increased in size. It took a LONG time for the jacuzzi to fill up. Lastly, the curtain over the window by the jacuzzi tub didn't actually cover the whole window. I never once saw anyone walking around in the back, private area but it still bothered me. I put up towels in the window to completely cover it. The location is excellent - right by the road to go to the boardwalk and a block from downtown. We were able to just walk to most places, which was great! Everything seemed clean in the room and the bed was comfortable. The jacuzzi tub (once it filled up) was fantastic and I REALLY enjoyed it!!! Everything is small except for the bed, but it was perfect for a little weekend getaway. There are dedicated parking spots for each bungalow, so we were able to park right in front, no problem. The people there were really nice and we had a great time doing small town stuff in Long Beach. Thanks for the weekend, Akari Bungalow! We also had the deck to ourselves which was great for drinks at night. Tub worked great, whole place was clean. Atari Bungalows is our home away from home. We have stayed in #3 (also in #1 & #8) so many times now that I can tell you which key goes in which lock and there is just a process to unloading the car and settling in. You're a block from town, right on the Bolstad approach to the beach. Having the kitchen is a huge money and time saver. Get up, make breakfast, put together some sandwiches and snacks, then head out to the beach for a day of kite flying. Come back in the evening, make a simple dinner, watch a movie and relax. You don't have to drive all over, wait for a table, etc... One thing to keep in mind is this is not a hotel. These are privately owned units. The property manager, Kathy, lives nearby. She's super friendly and helpful. But this is not a 24/7 operation. If you're looking for a quiet, comfy place to settle in for a few days without needing a lot of amenities, this is a great place. If you're looking for five star luxury, with room service and a mint on your pillow. You're probably in the wrong beach town, entirely. read more

Perfect! Stayed 3 nights, and was the perfect getaway. The bed was so comfortable, the fireplace provided instant warmth, the towels were plush and awesome, and the coffee was delicious. The beach and boardwalk were a straight shot from the bungalow. Kathy (manager) was so attentive and friendly. We brought our dog and 5 week old baby. Kathy gave our puppy a dog treat and his own doggy towel. Our Pack & Play fit perfectly at the end of the bed for the baby to sleep in. We can't wait to be back! read more

Let me start by saying that I really wanted to like this place. It seemed to have a lot going for it; it's really close to the beach, it's pet friendly, and it is located right next to a little organic market. The pictures on the website looked cute, the prices seemed reasonable, and I love to support a local business. So for a two night getaway with my boyfriend, it seemed the perfect fit....... But it was a HUGE disappointment. We stayed in bungalow #6. When I went to take a bath in the jetted tub (which was a big selling point for me), it took an hour and a half to actually fill up. When I pulled the plug to drain it, the water immediately rushed up out of the shower drain in the bathroom and flooded the entire bungalow. We called the manager Tammy, who informed us that this flooding is a recurrent problem with several of the bungalows. She made no apologies, no offer to move us to a different bungalow, nor to send someone to help with clean up. She just sent her daughter down with more towels, as we had used all of ours to mop up the floor. Trying to roll with the punches, we shrugged off this incident as a minor inconvenience. The next day we left early to go exploring. After a wonderful day on the coast, we returned to our bungalow, which had been left unlocked by the housekeeper that had come to clean while we were out. As my laptop and valuables were in the room, this didn't make me very happy. When we asked Tammy why the room had been left unlocked, she again made no apology and said that 'We just don't have problems like that here.' She also informed us that while we were out, the plumbers had been to our unit to look at the plumbing issue-something that she had not let us know beforehand. Again, it's the principle of it- I would have liked to have been informed that non-hotel staff were going to be in my room so that I could choose what to do with my belongings. Although nothing was stolen, it was more the carelessness and disregard that really bothered me. I should mention that the sliding bathroom door didn't shut. I don't mean that it didn't shut all of the way, or that it was difficult to open and close, I mean that it didn't shut AT ALL. It was completely stuck and try as we might, it would not budge at all. So every time one of us had to use the facilities, the other had to either stand on the other side of the room (which amounts to still only being about 6 feet away), or go stand outside. It was obvious that other people had run into the same problem, as there were marks all along the edge of the door where they had tried to pry it out. Needless to say, this killed the romantic part of our romantic weekend. Add to that the fact that the heat didn't work (thank goodness for the little fireplace), the glassware was dirty and caked in lipstick, it took the water 20 minutes to heat up, the narrow check in times (3-5pm only), and the general lack of true cleanliness, we were not entirely satisfied with our stay. We are not the type of people to be picky about our accommodations, but this was just too much. When we checked out, we asked to speak with someone about our bill. We felt awkward asking, and we have never done anything like this before, but we felt that all of these things had added up. After all, we had spent $250 on a room that, among other things, had no bathroom door, no heat, and had flooded. The guy at the counter was very nice, but told us he didn't have the authority to do anything about it and told us to call Tammy later that afternoon. We did, and got the voice mail. We called again...nothing. She finally called back and left a voice mail saying that she would issue a 10% credit, that they would NOT be issuing any further refund, and that this should be the end of our contact. There was (once again) no apology. Needless to say I am deeply disappointed. Maybe the other bungalows are in better shape than #6, but it was the neglect from the management that was really upsetting. Even a little communication and care would have been enough for us. We were not treated with respect, and feel as though we were ripped off. The moral of the story?.....DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

I'm not one to usually write a review but I believe everyone's way of living is so different now days, especially after seeing all these 5* reviews? I heartedly felt I needed to write a review on my experience at Akari Bungalows in Long Beach Washington. It was my husband and I's first year anniversary and his birthday this last weekend. Last year we went to Lincoln City Oregon on our honeymoon and stayed at the Pelican Shores Inn, we absolutely loved it here and will go there from here on out. But we wanted to venture out on the Washington coast...so.... I need to first tell you when they say 1930's bungalow that is just it....If this at all bothers you or you question should you stay..please read on....If you are use to comfortable, clean, safe, up to date accessories as a tv, very basic cable, kitchen accessories (dishwasher) we barely had any dishwashing soap, it was this Eco clean stuff... meaning it did not clean the dishes well. The bathroom was tiny, it also had a mildew smell, you had to sit on toilet at a slant due to how the toilet was positioned. The floor in the bungalow #4 was completely uneven, when you slept in the bed because the floor is uneven you felt like you were falling out, I felt like we were camping with a little luxury of having shelter over head...there is no privacy our neighbors would smoke outside our bungalow, which I thought was rude. Being a non smoker! The price is ridiculously high for what these bungalows offer. For two nights we paid $288.60. Crazy amount for what we were thinking we would have upon arrival....It didn't help that one of those days it rained all day. Kathy was very nice to us, even said if there was anything we need to let her know! By the second day I just wanted to go home I was so uncomfortable Honestly I don't think Kathy could of helped us we were pretty much screwed...I'm all about helping small business owners, but these Bungalows are just not for us...It was a learning experience!!! I feel bad, not giving the Akari Bungalows five stars. The establishment is seriously cute and perfectly located. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly want, from a blender to long-stemmed glasses to a pasta-serving spoon, and all the little touches in between. The bed was massive and felt great. The DVD player worked (after I found someone to come and help me with it; the first person I talked to just wanted to back carefully away from the issue). The decor is "beachy" and attractive, and when you want hot water it's there. And even with all that going for it, in the end the bungalow had the one overwhelming drawback I personally just can't stand. It wasn't really a stand-alone unit. Each unit appears to be a stand-alone structure, but they all share a wooden fence-like backstop that runs behind and connects them so that when my neighbors arrived with their multiple kids and dog after 10:00 p.m., I heard every single impact of their luggage and their many, many feet on the floor. I was jolted out of a sound sleep by a thunderous impact and couldn't believe it at first because the sounds seemed to come from above me, which just wasn't possible. And I continued to hear every one of them, all night and until they left the next day. Now, if that would not be a problem for someone, then this is a five-star place, absolutely. I can easily imagine each bungalow filled to the gills with fair-weather vacationers banging around and thumping energetically and nobody being bothered because everybody's doing it and most of their time is being spent out of doors, anyway. Unfortunately, as it happens, I live in Seattle beside and beneath loudly and perpetually clattering neighbors and am at my personal limit with it. Nesting deep into my own little dreamy beach bungalow for an intermittently rainy weekend seemed like exactly the thing I needed in order to escape all that and, whoa, but it was not, nor could it ever be as long as that backstop remains in place. read more

I will never stay there. I found myself needing a last minute place to stay and called them at 9:30 on Sunday and asked if they had a room and the price. After much grumping and grousing, the woman said "it's 9:30". I said "does that mean you don't have any rooms?". She made a big fuss, saying she had no idea and would have to turn on the computer to check. Then after she moaned and groaned a bit, she said "and if I do, then what?". I said I would take it. Cozy and quiet. You don't have a water view from here, but it's a short walk. The bungalows are within view of the Long Beach arch. I love the location as it's also a short walk into town (be sure to go to the bakery--so delicious). Everything was clean and in working order. The manager was very friendly and even called the morning I was checking out to ask if I wanted a late checkout--never had that happen before! The bungalows are small (the shower especially is tiny), but they have everything you need to be comfortable and to cook your own meals. I would stay here over a hotel/motel any day. read more

2nd year in a row!! My wife and I spent our honeymoon here in 2015. (#7) For our honeymoonaversary (honeymoon anniversary) we decided to come again! This time we stayed in #4!! Kathy is always wonderful, helpful and understanding! We drive 3 hours to come down and often the traffic on the way makes for a later arrival time, but she never makes us feel bad for being late and is always happy to have us! I was excited to get away to the beach for the weekend but was quickly disappointed when we arrived at the so called beach condo. It is not a condo, it is a tiny run down apartment. The carpet in the bedroom was dirty, there was hair on the allegedly freshly made bed, and there was soup growing mold on it in the microwave. Who left it there and why I don't know. We spent as much time as possible outside of the room as it was not pleasant inside. I cannot speak to the bungalows but I am certain that I will never go back to the condo and will warn others not to either. read more

We stayed during 4th of July weekend and loved it. They are only a block away from the main entrance to the beach. And the room was clean and the décor was super cute. I brought my dog, and they had a basket setup with dog bowls, a towel, and a little blanket for him, they even brought him a treat when we checked in. What a wonderful way to spend a stormy Valentine weekend! We stayed two nights in bungalow #8. Cathy the Manager was fantastic. The room was adorable and had everything you could need: very comfy king size bed, gas fireplace, great jetted tub, flat screen tv & dvd player, and a fully stocked kitchen (even had wine glasses)...everything we needed to make a romantic and yummy gourmet Valentine dinner. I'm so glad I found this place online! Their website was full of pictures, allowing me to chose my own bungalow when calling for a reservation. Their off-season special was great and their staff was warm and friendly over the phone and during check-in- providing great dining recommendations and being really responsive about any request. The location is awesome- steps away from the Long Beach sign and the bungalows were cute, clean and had everything you needed (from dishwashing soap to fresh coffee beans for grinding). Aveda products, stone fireplace and comfortable king size bed. The only thing better was that they are dog-friendly. We'll be back for sure. read more

We stayed here not too long ago and I have to say cabin #1 and it was amazing but the best part of our 3 day weekend was Kathy. She made our trip amazing Would stay here over and over due to the fact of the warmth and care from Kathy. She is AMAZING!!! She is the reason we will return year after year. wow i could not even stay at this place. the so called jetted tub was bairly big enough for one person. the fireplace did not work. the wifi also was not working and if your 6ft+ you will have to duck the hole time you are in the room. oh yah and the tv was smaler than my computer monitor, oh wait it was a computer moniter! lol what a joke i paid the cancelation fee and left. there was now view of the water, and if you bring dogs and want to bathe them after taking them to the beach you can't. the shower is bairly big enough for one person, exspecially if you are larger then a normal person. read more
