My husband and I have come here 4-5 times. This time we brought our 2 year old and 2 dogs. Needless to say this place is not what it use to be. We stayed four nights and paid $920. $160 for two dogs and a $75 cleaning fee. On the last night of our stay we came home from our family dinner with a note taped to our door (I will post in comments). it stated we had accidentally left our door open and management had thankfully closed it. Next mentioned that out trash, that was tied in a garbage bag, doesn't belong outside our door and we should use the dumpster next to the office. With the cost of the room and cleaning fees our rooms should be serviced daily. Not to mention management walked past it multiple times to leave us a note and could have taken the time to throw it out. What do you pay cleaning fees for? Next the note mentioned we brushed our dog OUTSIDE and "it looks pretty bad". I guess the dog and cleaning fee is only reserved for inside our cottage? My husband thought he was being polite to save them the dog hair in our room... Next if you are staying here don't leave any sort of dog toy in the pet friendly areas as you will also be reprimanded for that. We use to love to come here and will never be back. If you want your room serviced for $200 a night... go anywhere else. read more

The good, they allow pets, they have cheaper rates, close to the beach. The bad, there are multiple issues with unit, they have hooks to hold the doors closed, the managers are rude. There was only two rolls of toilet paper and I asked for more, they gave me one more roll of toilet paper and then when I asked for another, they had an attitude and hung up the phone on me. I asked for their manager and they continued to argue with me and said I needed to go buy my own. Mind y'all I have 6 kids and 2 adults in this unit and they knew that! There is no where in their policy about being stingy with the toilet paper. The units were dirty, there was leftover coffee in the coffee pot, the supplied dishes were dirty, and food on the floor. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The customer service was the worst I have ever experienced. read more

We've stayed here several times with our dog and it's always been a great experience. They have several funky, fun, clean and cozy beach cottages on their property, including access to a private trail that leads directly to the beach (5 min. walk). We love using the fireplaces that are included in most of the cottages, and we usually rent a movie from the Redbox in town to watch on their updated TVs/DVD players. The cottages are priced well and we always love taking a last minute look at their books online for a quick weekend getaway- sometimes you get lucky and they have something available. I'm so happy to be back at my home away from home. Showed up and to our surprise, we didn't apply a coupon from online to our reservation. They usually have one for buy two nights get the third one for free. I didn't see it on there, but the lady noticed I didn't apply it and was more than happy to give us the coupon discount! I was super surprised and so happy to have been treated to such an unexpected perk. I truly think they read these reviews which tells me they care. For them to go and help us out like that, which I was not expecting tells me that they are trying. I don't know about everyone else, but that means a lot to me. Good or bad, I will always come back for reasons shared before. So for anyone out there who might not have had the best experience, I ask that you try once more. Just made reservation for Cottage 3 on 1/21/20 for 3 nights ... Later: the cottage was clean, and included a living room with a complete kitchen in an ell nook off of it, and a separate bedroom. I would describe the ambience as funky/cozy. If you want conventional, modern sleek accommodations, seek elsewhere. The management was informal and friendly. This was January and my sister and her friend (in a larger unit) and I were the only people staying there, which was great, but more sociable guests might find the mostly vacant cluster of cottages a little eerie. I imagine the place feels very different during the busy summer months. In the winter it would be a good place for a writer to hole up. read more

I can't really write a review about the cottages, as I don't get to stay there. I made a reservation 6 weeks ago by phone with someone named Beth. I originally booked for one date, on a Friday and Saturday night, but had to change the date. Beth and I confirmed the dates several times, with me reminding her "Friday and Saturday" several times. I get this phone call today: Me: Hello? Beth: Why didn't show up for your reservation? (no greeting, no checking to see who I was) Me: Because I told you we wouldn't be in until late Friday night, after 9. We aren't driving down until I get off work at 6PM. Beth: You were supposed to be here last night. Me: No, the reservation was Friday and Saturday. Beth: I always confirm and you reserved Thursday and Friday. Me: Why would I reserve Thursday when I told you we wouldn't be in until late on Friday night. Beth: You said Thursday. Me: No. I didn't. Beth: Well, you can come tonight but you can't stay Saturday. I reserved the room to someone else. Me: Are you kidding me? And then I proceeded to her inform her that the group of people I had been traveling with (including two VERY excited little girls) would be incredibly disappointed and she could look for this review. I cancelled the whole trip. She didn't even offer to call the other people and explain the mix up to see if they'd come another time. I am so furious, and my daughter is in tears. Her attitude was brusque, rude and dismissive and I will not hesitate to let everyone i speak to know that she ruined my Mother's Day weekend get away. Thanks for nothing, Beth. read more

The owner is HORRIBLE! I refuse to stay there because she is inflexible. On her off season she refused to cut a price break when I was going to rent 3 of 10 cabins. Who does that??? This place is absolutely amazing. Everything about it we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was friendly, it close enough to the beach and only 5 minutes to town on a bike. They had bbqs, and activities set up (volleyball, ladder golf) stuff like that. The back area is wonderful. We can't wait to book for next year. Thank you very very much. We rented Cabin 1, smallest they have. Now, the context of my rating is this: 1) kind of a princess wife who was quite disappointed at the small size, no view, no fireplace 2) big German Shepherd who (to me) stinks 3) lots of rain and humidity (i know that's what you get in LB in Feb) 4) clothes & coats hanging in the room smell But, hey, other than that: a quiet, launch pad to rest up and explore the surrounding area. "A home away from home" This accommodation so lovely, one almost doesn't want to say anything, for fear it will become so popular it's unavailable. My family and I stayed in cottage #10, which has two bedrooms, full bathroom, full kitchen, and a lovely spacious sitting and dining room with lovely furnishings and a wood-burning fireplace. It was cozy, but not so cozy we became stir-crazy in the rainy weather, and the beautifully supplied kitchen made it extra fun! We were able to cook delicious meals without needing a single utensil or tool. I think the only thing I didn't find was a meat thermometer... but that's not to say it's not there. The cottages are located a short walk from the beach, maybe 10-20 minutes depending on your speed, not far from downtown Longbeach (about 2 miles), and a short drive (or pedal, the cottages offer bikes to borrow) to Seaview. The bedrooms were tidy. The mattresses firm, yet comfortable. Towels were fresh and fluffy. The bathroom was original fittings (maybe the 50's or 60's), but kept fresh. It was nice to see the travel-sized hand soap offered was made my a local company. We were visiting in October, with cold, wet weather, but windows have clearly been updated with double panes (well insulated), along with small room-to-room heaters and (of course!) the fire place, we kept plenty warm. They offered a great selection of DVDs to borrow at the front desk and the bookshelves were filled with lots to read as well as cards and boardgames. This location, and certainly this cottage, is perfect for a holiday weekend away, where you can prepare a full holiday meal and enjoy family time together. Sid's IGA (just south in Seaview) will have all you need for to fix a wonderful meal. I believe cottage 10 can sleep up to eight (very cozily)--using the bed plus bunks in one bedroom and the fold out futon couch in the living room. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area. We used to come here more often before we had kids, and made a return trip this week for the first time in over 15 years. The rates are a lot higher, and everything has a "new" (to me) coat of paint, but it's still the same old Anchorage - in a good way. I'll always love this place but the rates may dissuade me from returning too frequently. read more

We love Long Beach and had a great time renting Cottage 1 at Anchorage Cottages! It is a cute, clean and quiet cottage that has lots of amenities -- a fully stocked kitchen, great books to read, movies to watch & games to play. Plus they put the cutest little locally made soaps in the bathroom and give you locally roasted coffee to make in the morning (yum!). For the price and location (short walk to the beach) we will definitely rent again! read more

I love this place! 10 minute walk to a pretty private beach area (wear long sleeves though because the path is swarmed with mosquitos). There is some awesome game set up behind the cottage called Ladderball. It was so much better than your typical hotel, it's kinda more like staying at your Grandma's house (in a good way haha). The manager was also very accomodating, I accidentally cancelled my reservation, and she reinstated it without a big hassle. Would definitely stay again. read more

Wow, judging by some of the other reviews on here, I'm hoping that my family didn't just happen to be lucky this weekend. We actually had a very nice stay here. The cottage was clean, cozy, and well-appointed. Our pups loved it, too. When there we played basketball (too cool!), watched two family movies in the evening, snuggled by the fire, and drank wine at sunset in the garden area. Nice cottages, feels more like staying in a friend's home than a hotel. The main reason I give it 5 stars is the beds. After all, you're paying for a place to sleep, so the bed is the single most important feature for me. Their beds are insanely comfortable, absolutely top-notch. Very quiet. The beach was very nice, and totally covered with Velella in places. Good place for razor clamming. The beach is a 5-10 minute walk down the path from the cottages. It goes though some shady wooded areas where the mosquitos are VERY aggressive. It's worth the walk, but I recommend either wearing long sleeves and pants and lots of bug spray, or simply taking a few minutes longer to walk down the main drag and take a different nearby path that doesn't go through the woods (there are several). The beach itself is bug free and pleasantly secluded. We didn't come within a quarter mile of another person the whole time. They also have bicycles that guests can borrow and there are cleaning stations for fish and clams. No AC but not usually needed on the Coast. There were a few self-lighting logs for the fireplace which was nice in the morning. There are a few idiosyncracies to take in stride but that is expected since this place is not really designed as a hotel, and that's part of the charm. Would definitely stay there again. read more
