The food was great and the portions were substantial. We were a party of 30 folks and the Breadline staff handled it like pros. All the food was on time and hot. Such a cool place in good ole Omak! I made it here with a couple of my best friends. They invited me up here for dinner and concert here (The Paperboys from Vancouver were in town and they rocked the ole "Omak Hotel"!). The restaurant is surprisingly big for this country town. I think a restaurant like this could easily be plopped down in any major metropolis and do just fine. The menu is extensive and has many tasty options. I went with the Prime Rib special (medium well). My steak was well presented, and mouthwateringly good! I had an Azteca Margarita with it as well as a Recess Peanut Butter cup drink (it was near Halloween, so I just had to!). I topped everything with a Pink Cookie: yum! The bar is nicely decorated and built of dark welcoming wood. The ambiance, decor, and layout of the dining area is inviting and dare I say living-room-ish (by this, I mean it was welcoming and comfortable). It was so cool to be having some world class food right here in downtown Omak (town famous for the Suicide Race in August). Perfection was achieved by having our meal with a very cool band. My friends and I got up a time or two to cut the rug----hey, if some ska is to be played, nothing can keep me from skankin' to the beat!! If you're in Omak, do make a visit to the Breadline. I visit Omak a couple times a year, and every time, I have to hit Breadline Cafe. Breadline is in a funky old building and is decorated wall-to-wall with vintage photographs, advertisements, and other memorabilia. The name comes from the fact they have a buffet-type bread station with different varieties of bread and sauces you can try upon ordering (in other words, a "bread line"). It's truly a unique (and delicious) experience! The service here never disappoints. I always sit at the bar area so I can enjoy a drink there and get some food to take back to my hotel. Even though I don't live in the area, the bartender has come to recognize me and we always make small talk. He's a good bartender and also makes great entree recommendations! I absolutely love their drinks. Lately I've been hooked on their Cowgirl Lemonade, which is lemonade, vodka, and PLENTY of sweet strawberries served in a cowboy boot-shaped mug. It's so delicious, and at $6, can't be beat! As for the food, I have never gotten a bad meal here. My all-time favorite dish here, though, has to be their jambalaya. You might not think you could possibly get a good jambalaya in a small town in central Washington, but let me tell you, this is some good stuff! It's loaded with bay shrimp, prawns, calamari, chicken, sausage, and mushrooms, and cooked in a yummy red sauce that packs just the right amount of kick. It's served with a nice medley of veggies and steamed rice. I do wish the rice-to-seafood ratio was a little more balanced (there's tons of seafood with a pretty small scoop of rice), but that's a small complaint given how much I adore this dish overall. In my opinion, Breadline has the best food you can get in Omak. Whether you're just passing through, staying a few nights, or live in Omak, Breadline is a must-try! read more

Based on locale only, this is the best restaurant in town. It missed being the only restaurant in town by two. Well, I'm exaggerating that slightly. The food here is on the upper end of decent, what really stands out for them is the bakery they run out of the back. In my opinion, their menu is much too expansive for them to really excel. They do have a small local only section that features dishes made exclusively from ingredients grown or produced right here in this region. That is pretty cool I think. I must warn you- do not come here if you have any sort of time constraint. You will most certainly be late. Multiple times I have been in and waited over 40 min for sandwiches, soup, or salad. I can't quite figure out what is so complicated about those orders, but every time a 40+ min wait. Sigh. Alas, I just can't come here for lunch--ever. Other than that, if you're in Omak and you don't quite feel like Mexican, The Breadline really is your only choice. read more

Omak was a stop overnight for us after costing the north cascades. Ample town - people very friendly. This cafe was highly recommended and close to our hotel. We arrived late and were struck with the diversity of their menu, eclectic atmosphere, and fun setting. Service was a bit slow...but it was made up for by the quality and quantity of food. We had the Caesar salad, the cod, the teriyaki chicken, and grandmas best pork (probably the weakest dish). For dessert, the berry lemon tart special was excellent...but the bread pudding was a bit soggy. However the bread bar was unique and good too. Definitely recommend! read more

The soup (lamb and barley) and chicken sandwich was tasty and is at very reasonably price ($6.95), and I know I tasted a very good bread, unwared that they baked it right there initially. Found out there is a bakery at the back selling all kinds of goodies. End up ordering a whole apple bread cake for dessert even we were so full and was not going to eat dessert. And then I bought a few packs of the Lavendar shortbread cookies ($5.45 a dozen) for gifts, a loaf of Rosemarry bread at only $4. Decors are very different with many antique-like stuff., Staff are very friendly, Food served are ofbquality and has good variaty of choices in the menu. Wow, we enjoyed our linner (early dinner) here so much. This place is huge, lots of areas, tables, rooms so no matter where you sit it feels like you're in a smaller cafe. Love all the stuff hanging from the ceiling: bikes, musical instruments, nic knacks etc. This place is a feast for the eyes. Service - great, and of course we loved the homemade bread bar, five different types. In the back downstairs is an area with all their desserts and bakery goods, made fresh. The Breadline Cafe has decent servers, but you'd think a place called "the Breadline Cafe" would always have constantly fresh bread. All the times we've been there, at a variety of times, the bread has usually been stale and hard. The tables look so dirty with that dated plastic tablecloths, the chairs aren't very comfortable, cups are usually dirty and look like they've been around for years (looks like they were once clear, now they've been so used that theres a dirty off-white film). The water doesn't taste very good. They've a lot of people bustling around but it's always feels a little understaffed. They seem to add rosemary to absolutely every dish and it's very overwhelming, especially the pastas, which makes the food taste like flowery bar soap. It's a little off putting. read more

The paté was not what I defined a pré and the artichokes were definitely not the main ingredient in it, and the bread served with it was old. The bread of the sandwich was stale and the beef was dry. The place was stinky. From a look at the menu, we could see that the dishes are a mix of a weird interpretation of Italian/Mexican/French dishes. Not sure about the identity if the place. read more

I am not sure where to begin, It has been a few years since I have been here because of the last eating experience I had here but I thought I would give them another try. I first looked up their menu online and thought I would try to order online and have it to go and eat at home, that was unsuccessful for one reason or another so I called my order in and could not even pay for my order, I was told to call back. When I did call back I was passed around to 3 different people before I could finally pay for my order. My wife ordered the Chicken Fettuccini and I ordered the Steak Cobb Salad with an appetizer of the calamari. The calamari was good for it being to go, except the menu said it came with garlic aioli and it came with a dill sauce instead. My wife's Chicken Fettuccini was tasteless and was very grainy as if it was frozen prior to cooking for us and not fresh. I had the Steak Cobb salad which I have had many times in the past and this time it came and there was something that was very bad and sour in the salad. Neither one of us could possibly finish our meal and for spending over $50, it was quite a disappointment. They are only been open 4 days a week now since Covid, I would recommend keeping all their ingredients fresh and tasty not tasting like they are leftovers. I feel like I could have done better myself at home and only paid a fraction of the price. I don't think I will be returning. read more

My wife and I planned a trip to Omak and during the planning process multiple people recommended The Breadline Cafe to my wife, so she was set on going. I personally am not a fan of soup and salad type places, so wasn't exactly excited about going but I am so glad we did. The restaurant is funky and eclectic, full of off the wall decor and historical art. My wife ordered the Thai Peanut salad, which was essentially lettuce wraps. These were amazing! It came out on a platter with all the fixings and sauces to make it just like you like it. The sauces were good but the homemade peanut sauce was to die for! ****TERRIBLE WAITRESS, Good Food**** This Popped up as one of the best places to eat in Omak and their online menu looked great so we tried it out! I ordered the Alfredo Pasta that came with access to the bread bar (asked what it was because no explanation was offered by our waitress) and the variety of flavors were awesome! Also, the Caesar Salad that came with my meal tasted fresh and delicious! My spouse ordered the Thanksgiving Anytime and very much enjoyed the meal minus the waitress. The waitress was very slow and overall unhelpful; when you order and get your food, just expect that you will never see her again throughout the remainder of the meal until it's time for the check. Our waitress walked past our table countless times and blatantly ignored us after multiple attempts to flag her down for the check. We finally had to push the plates out to the end of the table and eventually get up and go to the counter to get the check because our waitress was USELESS. I asked for a to-go box for my leftovers and she took my meal to the kitchen or somewhere [GROSS! I wanted to do it myself!] to "repackage it" to-go which was the most effort that she put into customer service all night as she never refilled our waters or Iced Tea or bothered to ask if we needed anything. I had some leftover bread that I wanted to take that I had to peel off layers of saran wrap to put it with my food. The way our food was packaged to go was completely ridiculous. I saw other people walking off with nice boxes and I got a cardboard boat with saran wrap. Overall the food was good but the waitress sucked, I will not be back! read more

This is the only restaurant that I can eat a salad and not get an upset stomach. The daily specials and soup(s) are fabulous and even during this time of "to-go orders only" they publish a fabulous daily menu with several great lunch options and re-heatable items for dinner.
